Drew Maddox has been given orders by the king of the jaguar Tribe. It’s time to start building the Maddox empire. He has a name on a list. A name betrothed to him at birth. He accepts his mission to track and hunt his mate in order to fulfill his shifter duty.
Francesca March has no idea about her heritage or where she came from. Adopted by humans, she has lived a lonely existence as the only she-panther she knows. Drew knows time is running out. He has to convince Francesca to marry him in less than five days. But with his own secrets haunting him he struggles with how much to tell her without losing her.
Can Francesca face the reality of what it truly means to be a she-panther, or will Drew keep her in the dark to fulfill his duty?
Sparks fly. The sheets burn down. And every time they touch a flame ignites. Will fate keep them together, or tear them apart?

Started really well, but a rushed ending and lot of hanging threads dropped its rating down to just two stars.
Drew (H) is a prince in a jaguar shifter line on a quest to find Francesca (h), a jaguar shifter, to claim her as his mate. Unfortunately, Francesca was adopted by humans as a small child and has no idea about her shifter heritage, shifter culture, or even the fact that there are other shifters. Meeting on the side of the road after Drew's car trouble, they are drawn together like magnets. Drew's fighting conflicted feelings for Francesca versus his duties to the shifter council and the burdens of his quest. Francesca has trust issues after her adoptive parents rejected her when she shifted. But there's a lot of chemistry - so much so that they're even tying the knot about 3 days after they meet. Yet can there be a HEA for someone with trust issues married to someone keeping secrets?
I actually liked the characters, for the most part. Drew lost some points with me for his casual acceptance of the jaguar council orders and not explaining things to Francesca until it was too late. Still, he was trying to change things, trying to support her. But there was still a touch of 'too little, too late.'
The ending left a lot to be desired. Without actually being a cliffhanger (at least for the main couple), there are a lot of questions that aren't answered. Yeah, just way too many empty threads hanging.
There were also a few other plot points that bothered me. Super-whirlwind insta-love, even for a fated mates story (seriously, major secrets being kept, yet lust conquers all at the end, and they are heading to an HEA?). What was the point of the adoptive parents at the wedding? Just to show how badly she'd been betrayed by people in her past? (We already had that idea, didn't we? Quite frankly, the page space could have been better spent answering some of the other hanging questions in the story.) And yes, small town gossip and all, but how did they even hear about it? Also, what time of year was this? They kept talking about the beginning of spring (March, right?) and there was snow and ice on the ground. Totally believable. But they also kept talking about university final exams and graduation. Which are in May. No snow in NC in May.
One final issue. The jaguar mating set-up.
Alternating 1st person POV. No OW/OM drama. No actual cheating or active love triangle, but as I mentioned, the jaguar society is not exactly pro-monogamy. Good characters and some potential in the story outset, but too many weird plot points and waaaay too many hanging threads. Not exactly a cliffhanger, but no real closure on the relationship either. HFN-ish, maybe?
Would I read more? Maybe, if they were other free Kindle finds. It was well written, and maybe in subsequent stories, there might be a bit more closure. Or characters strong enough to stand up to this society a bit more.
Scorch: A Paranormal Shape Shifter Rom (The Tribe Series Book 1) By Terra Wolf, Ally Summers. 4.5 Stars
Drew and Francesca steam up the pages in here!!! You can almost feel the combustion these two ignite on the pages.
When Francesca, a panther, picks up a Drew, a jaguar, on the side of the road neither has any idea what's about to happen. One is on a mission and one just wants to know her heritage. But..... lol....
I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog.
This is a twist on the fated mates trope - Francesca marries Drew after knowing him 48 hours, but finds out he has a list of women to marry. There are several parts of this story which seemed to be thrown in simply to let the reader know there are lots more stories in this world, the ending is just a lead in to the next story. Didn’t really work particularly well for me.
I really liked the two main characters . The attitudes expressed by the council and case will probably be addressed in the next book but I didn't like that she was being manipulated and hurt again. I look forward to the next book to see how this ends. I hope the king gets an attitude adjustment big time.:-)
A sweet story with a happy ending....for now? What happens when a shifter adopted by humans meets her fated mate who knows something he is afraid to tell her? Confusion and distrust that’s what happens. But you will have to read the book to find out the details because I don’t do spoilers. My only regret is that I felt that the book ended too soon.
He is on the hunt for his mate but his secrets could destroy it all.
This is a quick read with both of them telling parts of the story.
It is not the usual mating process in the paranormal romances I have read frequently. She was raised by humans with no idea of what to expect and he kept secrets.
The ending kind of rushed to resolve their issues.
I received this for a honest review. The authors did a wonderful job.
Drew who is a jaguar shifter is royalty. He is a prince part of the Maddox line. He is forced to go on this mission. Now he on search of his mate. I loved how he did not want his brothers or best friend ind their mate before him. It was like fate stepped him and helped him out with that department.
Francesca is a she-panther. She knows nothing about shifters. Being raised by human parents she longs to find out about there shifter heritage. I love how she gave Drew a fake name when she met him. Can’t truly blame her.
I actually felt sorry for Francesca. Her adopted parents did not know when they adopted her that she was a shifter, Francesca did not even know she was a shifter for a long time. Her parents thought she was a monster and scared of her. Know Francesca finds herself along.
Francesca finds herself attracted to Drew. It is not long before she is taking this handsome stranger home. She is also hoping that he can help enlighten her on her shifter heritage. Maybe tell her who her real parents are and where she came from.
Drew finds out that Francesca is his mate. He is keeping some serious secrets from her. These secrets come between him and Francesca. They could even cause her to leave him. Will he be able to convince her to be his mate?
Does have a cliffhanger- they lied. They have a big issue they have to address, they don't know how to accomplish it, there will certainly be ramifications, but he said he won't do what he's told- so I guess that's their conclusion. Mediocre read at best, disappointing.
this book was good and different from the others i have read. she is a panther who was adopted as a baby and hee parents didn't know and thought her a monster. she has some issues and doesn't trust. she meets a jaguar and she has possibilities. will she take them. will her questions be answered. what will happen next.
