2nd Reread 12/2018-1/2018
I just finished listening to a reread on Kindle and it stands up very well to reread more than a year later. I really loved the setup of this book. It takes place in Europe and has a different feel from the previous books. Lissa is a badass, and she meets her match in Casimir. Not quite instalove, but fairly closed, but I loved their bond. The scenes of them beign in love and expressing their love and working together really worked for me.
I adore all the Prakenskiis, but I like how special each one is with their particular woman. Casimir understands what drives Lissa and he makes his decisions based on that. I loved how they are 100% partners. The love scenes are volcanic (as before, the nipple clamps were too weird for me, but they seemed to like it).
I admit I skipped some of the overly descriptive scenes of the widow of one of the men Lissa targeted for revenge being sexually abused by the main villain(s) in the book. I just cannot deal with that right now.
I think this would be an awesome movie. It has such a cinematic feel to it.
I have finished rereading the previous books. Now it's time to finally read Bound Together, with the infamous Viktor, who promises to rock my world.!

I loved the different direction that Feehan took with Lissa's story. Instead of the story taking place in Sea Haven at the farm, this one is set primarily in Italy, and Lissa is not the hunted, but the huntress. I am always satisfied when Feehan introduces another Prakenskii brother. While I adore the GhostWalker men (flaws included), the Prakenskiis have a special place in my heart. Each brother gets near to my favorite. I am pretty sure that it's a bit of a four way tie between Maxim, Gavril, Ilya and Casimir now. I do dearly love Ilya, and I never thought Feehan could top him, but she has, boy howdy. I have a bizarre fondness for assassin leads, and I got two for the price of one with Lissa and Casimir. Lissa is the real deal, and I wish for more heroines like her.
Casimir is perfect for Lissa. He's her match and he respects her for the woman she is, that she's been fashioned into. It takes a strong man to acknowledge that a woman is his equal. While Casimir was protective of Lissa, he didn't try to get in the way of her mission, but is her helpmate. I like that they work together to fulfill their mutual goals, and that their passion burns hot and their love is true.
This book had more of a semi-overt BDSM tone than the other books. I am the first to admit I am not a fan of BDSM. Fortunately, it wasn't over the top, although there was one device that was definitely a little weird for my tastes. I did like that Casimir wasn't about subjugation or domination but mutual pleasure. There is a welcome contrast between their love play and what is going on unbeknownst to Lissa. I didn't like the scene in which certain men abuse a certain woman. It made me sick and I felt really bad for that poor woman. I was glad that Casimir had such a visceral and righteously angry reaction to that situation.
I felt for Lissa in that she was raised with so much betrayal. Despite that, she was incredibly strong and self-actualized. I just hate that she was used that way. When the people you trust and love do that to you, it's even worse. Even though she had her Sisters of the Heart, she had to hide that part of her from them, and that made her feel lonely and isolated. I was glad that she doesn't have to be lonely anymore.
The wedding scene was so touching, and I loved the surprise guest. those Prakenskiis are so romantic! All I have to say is that the next book is going to be something else. The pigeons are really coming home to roost. I am officially giving my seal of approval if Feehan has books for the other guys from the worst of the Russian spy schools. :)

All I can say to Ms. Feehan is, keep the Russians coming, please.

"Fire Bound" was a emotional,suspenseful,erotic and romantic story where Christine Feehan took this genre to a whole another level,and being the fifth instalment in the Paranormal "Sisters of the Heart" series ,old enemies have to be defeated and vengeance finally fulfilled.Lissa Piner goes to Italy to fulfill her vengeance (and to escape a Prakenskii brother) but never saw her new enlisted bodyguard Casimir Prakenskii coming.Together they join into a dangerous plan of avenging their families and finally being free of their tortured past. DAMN IT ALL,Christine never disappoints me and this series are only just getting better!
Lissa Piner (her real name is Giacinta) is known to the world and her sisters as a talented glass blower,but actually are a italian skilled killer shaped into eliminating those who killed her parents when she was a child.She has a huge temper and are red-haired which comes to no surprise at all that she has the gift of being fire bound.All that fire is hidden inside her to succeed in her missions successfully.I love her dedication and determination and intelligence.Whatever those bastards did to her,she still stuck to her humanity and loved and protected her sisters of the heart with her whole soul.But she also saw the pattern and knew that the next Prakenskii brother would come to her and for that she run away.But she never expected the intense need and chemistry between her and Casimir and i love that she accepts him as her soulmate early on in the story!

It made me cry watching six of the Prakenskii brothers together by that fire-Ilya,Lev,Stefan,Maxim,Gavriil and Casimir.They let the Russian government torture them just to protect each other especially Ilya since he was just a baby at that time.My heart went out for them-they may not have known each other,but they still were loyal and ready to give their life for each other.Meeting the oldest Prakenskii brother was like being punched in the stomach.OMG did Viktor Prakenskii shine in just that one scene and his book is the next now and i just can`t breathe!I AM SO EXCITED!

This series is about six sisters related not by blood but of the heart, who find peace and healing from their violent pasts in the small seaside town of Sea Haven. Each sister possesses a different power of the elements.
Fire Bound focuses on Lissa Piner,
I did like that Lissa was a strong, dangerous and independent character. She was kick-ass, able to take care of herself. She was like a secret agent/spy!!!!
Casmir Prakenskii, one of the 5 Prakenskii brothers, is a mysterious and elusive assassin,
And believe me...there's a lot of bad guys and a lot of killings and a lot of violence too!!
Whilst the previous 4 books are set in Sea Haven, this one is set mainly in Italy, which I loved.....
One of the reasons that drove me nuts in this book.....the sex scenes...hell, some of them are spread over pages and pages and more pages...........in fact, a lot of them could have been left out as there was no need for them to form part of the plot...........after I bit, the scenes became so repetitive that I skimmed over most of them.
Look, I love Christine Feehan and I can't help myself.......even when I read one of her books that I have hated...I still continue waiting and reading for each new book that comes out.
I wasn't jumping up and down with glee when I was reading this book. Yes, it was a bit better than the last one...Earth Bound, which I did not like that much.
My favourites in this series are Water Bound #1 and Air Bound #3.

It was a mess. A very hot mess.
I keep reading Feehan's books because I'm curious about her characters and I want to see how the series end...I wish I didn't have this compulsion. She has amazing ideas, but daaaaaamn the execution kills me. Kills me dead.
The story was very unbalanced. I expected them to deal in the 1st half of the book with her problems and then with his. It didn't happen. Feehan used her brand of repetitive writing and managed to cram his story in about 1 chapter, they had sex in 3 chapter(and I mean it lasted 3 chapters), she repeated shit in 3 chapters, and the remaining chapters we dealt with her family shit. I just wanted it to end faster.
I don't think I can deal with this anymore.

Sadly, this is the last Christine Feehan I will read.
For many years I read Christine Feehan's books and enjoyed them. I love continuing series and finding out more about characters as the series goes on. Her paranormal world is interesting and unusual and that always made for a good read. There was always some violence and some sex but there was a story and an emotional connection with the characters. I stopped reading her Carpathian novels a couple of years ago because the sex and violence overtook the books and there was so little story that there wasn't that emotional connection that made the books good. I have continued to read the Seahaven books because I enjoy the emotional connection with the characters. However, the Seahaven series is, unfortunately, following the same path as the Carpathian novels. There were so many murders in this book that it was disgusting. In addition, the sex scenes were so long, so detailed, and so blasted offensive that this is the last Christine Feehan I will ever buy or ever read. I am not a prude but enough is enough.

This on was more to my liking and I can't wait for the last Sisters of the Heart book, OMGosh we meet Viktor and what a BAD man he is. Imagine Kane "Tack" Allen on steroids and in charge of 17 others just like him. (Do I smell a new series coming down the pike? ) Anyway this one was good, there was violence against women, but not to the degree of the last book. The horseback smexy scene wasn't smexy...I giggled through it...it was funny to me and way too over the top. I hope the next book is a long one that we get to be with all the couples on the farm. But boy is Viktor going to be surprised when he gets home. If you like the series, then I think you will like this addition.

Over the top and not in a good way. Too many long sex scenes, one followed every other scene. Bad guy killed, let's have sex. Doing a business deal, so hot, lets have sex. And the author repeated the same things over and over and over.

Abandoned at 43%.
I really tried with this book, even though it meant skimming through the Unending Sex Scene (seriously, how much stamina do these people have?). But the unnecessarily graphic rape scene when the villain rapes a woman whose husband just died made me give up.
Do not recommend.

Another amazing book from Ms Feehan. She never disappoints. I'm super excited to read the next book in this series. The action, scorching sex and the love/commitments/betrayals!!! Wow, an intense read. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way!!!!

Carol Monda was my least favorite narrator in this series. She didn't quite capture the menacing tone of these highly trained yet controlled assassins.
I have been reading this series every month and this is why I tend to shy away from binge reading series. After a few books, this one was more of the same insta-love between a sister of the heart and a Prakenskii. All the other ones didn't annoy me like this one, but the romance didn't move me that much.
Lissa Piner was a sister that I didn't know much about in terms of her special ability. She was definitely a leader and trusted voice amongst her sisters but I didn't know what element she wielded until the book title.
When Lissa goes off on a secret mission, the Prakenskii brothers sent one of Their own, Casmir, to shadow her from a distance.
If you have read the books before then you know what comes next between those two.
The more interesting part of the story was Lissa's background and the role it still played in her actions. That mystery and subsequentl revelation was the intrigue plot that kept me listening to this book.
Overall, I enjoyed the story but I would like the heroes to work a little harder to get the chick!

The more interesting part of the story was Lissa's background and the role it still played in her actions. That mystery and subsequentl revelation was the intrigue plot that kept me listening to this book.
Overall, I enjoyed the story but I would like the heroes to work a little harder to get the chick!

Why do I keep doing this to myself? It's not a good sign when you spend the whole book thinking "yikes this is bad, why am I reading this, ugh this is not good..." I mean there's not even any interest in the plot or characters because it's always literally and precisely the only plot and only two characters she's ever written.
I think Feehan probably has built a book generator program at home by now that churns these out, replete with the exact same physical, emotional, and sexual descriptions of the H/h, and painful cliches. "His eyes should be outlawed." "I cannot allow my woman to be in danger, I am too alpha." "I cannot lie to you, our connection is too strong." "I've been alone forever and no one could really see me, I never thought I'd find someone like you." Add in about 18 ludicrously detailed murders and a completely implausible plot, stir in optional vampires, and you've got another Feehan Special (french fries extra).

Fire Bound is the fifth in the series and focuses on Lissa Piner. Each installment in this series has in some way alluded to the events that happened in the last Drake book-Hidden Currents. This one is a little different in that the story takes place away from Sea Haven and the other sisters and the brothers do not play a large role in this storyline. We also see that unlike the other couples whose personalities are different but complementary, this couple is very much alike from their personalities, to their gifts, to their skills.
The ongoing arc is still in play concerning Ellie Drake but information is revealed that led me to believe it will all be coming to a head soon. You do not need to read the Drake Sisters series in order to understand this series as each storyline is self-contained with a resolvable conflict but the characters and arc do vaguely overlap.
Fire Bound is an emotionally, action packed PNR filled with mystery, suspense, and a very erotic based romance. It is one of the more darker stories in this series and I would be remiss in not warning readers of the explicit scenes of violence and sexual assault. Smooth plotting and strong characterization. Feehan does a good job of introducing us the protagonists and integrating their backstories into the narrative. She takes her time building the tension of the main conflict, allowing us to see every move and thought of our protagonists and the villains. I really enjoyed the assassin(s) plotline and the devious twists Feehan added to increase the sense of danger and anticipation. There was an issue of repetition in dialogue. Both Lissa and Casimir constantly repeated themselves. At first, I thought maybe it was a formatting error but each time there was a small change in the sentence or structure to show it wasn’t a copy.
Casimir and Lissa are very much in tune with one another. This is established almost from the beginning. Their histories run parallel -both have lost their parents to violence and both were groomed to be assassins. Intelligent, loyal, and dangerous; they are deadly individuals who when paired together are almost invincible. Feehan sets up their introduction and romance up very quickly in order for them to begin their story together. Casimir isn’t as dominant as some of his brothers, though he’s still very much an alpha and his protective streak goes into overdrive when he sees Lissa. Lissa asserts herself as his equal right off the bat, expressing that she is not a submissive and his caveman techniques won’t always work with her.
The romance has a strong foothold in the storyline, as to be expected, but I wasn’t prepared for how strong that hold was. I also didn’t expect the multiple sexual scenes nor for how detailed they were. I can’t believe I had an issue with this but they almost overpower the main storyline. It seemed every time I turned a page they are having sex or thinking about having sex. Due to the plotlines and pace that Feehan set, there were no mundane, everyday scenes to offset this. I do wish more time could have been spent building the romance between them; allowing time for them to really get to know one another, rather than using the insta-love bonding plotline. It may have allowed the romance to have blended better with the story. Feehan attempts to justify this fast pace she has set by allowing them to “see” each other’s memories, garnering a sense of longevity in their relationship.
The ending comes at you hard and fast, wrapping up the main conflict and an ongoing storyline. We are still waiting for Ellie and Jackson to return to Sea Haven and I for one can’t WAIT to see what happens then. I predict major fireworks. And maybe some elemental magic. We meet the final Prakenskii brother and get a brief look at what he has been up to. I have a feeling his book is going to be the wildest one yet. There are rumors that this is the last in the Sisters arc and the final brother, Victor, will be the beginning of a new series. I haven’t be able to confirm this rumor so we will have to see. While Fire Bound wasn’t my favorite in the series, Earth Bound holds that honor, it is a good addition to the series and fans are sure to enjoy.

Summary

And Lissa, at first thought she had finally was home free so she could put into play her real plans, but Gavriil sent his brother Casmir after her to protect her. Casmir has lived a life of hardship, having his parents murdered and taken away from all of his brothers and trained in a brutal school in Russia. He wants to do this one thing for his brothers, to protect this one fiery haired woman whom he knows is his but doesn't wish to contaminate her life with his past or that he is hunted. Lissa is out to get justice on those that killed her parents, and to stop the threat against the Prakenskii brothers who have a hit out on them. She will do anything to protect her adopted family even become the killer that her uncle trained her to be. But Lissa will learn truths about her past and Casmir will steady her and help her heal the worst of wounds. Plot and Story Line
Fire Bound was such a wonderful addition to this series, and I had a blast reading this one. I have been in love with the way Feehan has written this series so far, and Fire Bound was a great story. I was able to obtain it through my library through audio, and so it took some time to get through it, but it was so fun to see the way this book unfolded. There were some heartbreaking moments, especially for Lissa and Casmir. It was quite hard to see them go through some challenges here. I really adored both of these characters together and see them fall in love. What I really admired was seeing the slow burn romance that these two build through the story. There is a element of danger from beginning to end, which makes sense considering that they are surrounded by enemies. What I adore about the these two being together, was how well they work in harmony together, especially when it comes to missions. Casmir may be overprotective at times, but he also understands her abilities and how important these missions are to her and respects that and I admired that fully. Especially considering that at the beginning he appears to be such a dominant alpha male, but as the story continues you see hidden depths to him and we see the gentle and kind side of him as well as the hard and brutal side. And another treat was seeing the last brother enter the story for a time. And boy I really liked him and it was quite fun to see him and Lissa go at it hehe
The Narration
The narration was a standard job, the voice was satisfying but not one of those that really stands out. But she did a overall decent job, but she did the Russian and European accents pretty well especially with the fancy Russian words that were put in place. It was very interesting experience, because Carol Monda was a new narrator for me to listen to and I did like how she did the perfect job for creating the right moods for the story. Well Done.
The Cover
I have loved all the covers in this series, but this one is a bit "bleh" to me. Nothing significant and I wish they had done a bit more with it like the other classes.

When two like souls find each other…
I couldn’t wait to start this story—another book in a series I love! The Prakenskii brothers are all alpha, all the time, while the Sea Haven sisters’ strengths match them in every way. Each instalment so far has seen a blood brother paired with a sister (by choice), with each story offering something as unique as the elements around us. What they all have in common is the unquestionable love and commitment they have for each other…
Casmir Prakenskii is a man living in the shadows but ready to do whatever he can to support his brothers. What they endured growing up is what nightmares are based on. They are edgy and distrustful outside of their small circle and you can easily understand why. Being separated very young, I think they try even harder to maintain the connection between them, no matter the time or distance. When called, Casmir could do nothing else but answer regardless of his circumstances.
“He had no home, no name, no past and no future.”
Lissa Piner felt like a fraud even as she lived with her chosen sisters and loved them as her own.
“Practically everything about her was a lie…”
Lissa’s childhood was marred by the violent death of her parents. Every action after that was governed by a deep seated need for vengeance. Betrayal was an ugly word. With not all of it in the past, her final missions were going to be marred with more loss and sorrow than she could have ever dreamed…

It tugged every emotion as it equally entertained and delighted with twisty turns and super sexy scenes. I cried, I blushed… and laughed in between. Oh, and definitely fell in love with Casmir—strong, devoted and someone you can count on to have your back, each and every time. Sigh….
From the depths to the heights, this story took me on a ride I’m reluctant to leave. Thank goodness for at least one more sister/brother pairing in the wings! ~ Diane, 5 stars

I love this series but this addition was a bit of a let down for me. Definitely my least favourite of the series. I certainly didn't hate it but I felt I'm being generous with the 3 stars.
So much seemed to be missing and then so much was just OTT and repetitive, especially the LENGTH and number of the sex scenes, I mean they even did it on a horse, um, nope sorry! The sex scenes on occasion just seem inappropriate in relation to what was happening around them or had just happend, violence etc.
This one was a fairly predictable romance in the sense that Lissa knew about the Prakenskii's and while she was adamant she wasn't interested, she put up no resistance as soon as they met.
We only got a brief mention of the other sisters which was a bit disappointing as they have previously played larger rolls in the stories.
Not much mention of Lissa's glass blowing (she was to busy killing people), I felt that meant we were missing a key element to her character. Also her fire element was not used (other then to warm a room) with only Casimir using his talent????
Bit of a twist with Lissa and her family which kept it a little interesting but I must admit the continuing storyline of the Prakenskii brother's torturers (founders of the school's and who murdered their parents) was wrapped up super quick with minimal input from a Prakenskii, found that a tad disappointing.

I have loved the crazy that is the Sisters of the Heart/Sea Haven series. And it is insane. 7 Russian brothers all fall in instant lust with sisters (not blood related but who have adopted each other and live on a farm together in California) who have violent pasts and also special supernatural gifts tied to earth elements that the brothers also have. The storylines are violent, extremely violent, with most including multiple murders, rape (including children), and torture with the theme of finding love in the midst of all that. I can handle all that if its written in the right way - redemption, power of love, etc. The reason I'm 1 starring this one is that it has all of the above, but several scenes weren't needed, didn't provide any benefit or take away in relation to the story line, and were so sickening that it ruined the other parts of the book for me. As other reviewers have noted, for example, there is an extended rape/murder scene - and I mean page after page of the scene - that didn't show anything to the reader we didn't already know (the bad guys were already firmly established) and killed a minor secondary character that neither added or subtracted to the story line. It was just an extended rape scene for rape scene's sake? My tolerance is pretty high but this was too much. Add to that the other book issues - pacing, a too abrupt ending with no real resolution, lack of true relationship development, and just how little of the plot made real sense - and I just didn't like this one.

I like this author , but her books , and series are getting very graphic. One sexual encounter lasted three chapters, which I skipped. She lets you have a little story, than back to rough graphic sex. I loved the idea of Lissa, who makes beautiful glass blown lights, running the story. She is determined to find those responsible , for her parents death, and destroy them. A body guard is sent along to keep her safe, Casimir Prakenski, one of the brothers we have yet to meet. She rebels, he demands , they work it out in bed...Same storyline. She is an assassin, just like him, and can be as deadly. Just sticking , to the story would be wonderful, with some heat. Victor comes out of hiding , and we get the hint he is already promised to Blythe. Most of the book takes place in Italy , and not on the farm. I missed the other characters. I like when they use their combined skill to work together. This also went into a little kinky, which is ok, if that is,what YOUR into, submissive, etc. She has never thrown that at us before. The men can be protective, but she is beginning to go way beyond. All the demands are starting to annoy, along with the language. I hope Victor has a soft side, because this caveman, you do as I say, I am a jerk , and will rip your clothes off , is getting Old. More storyline, with more characters, and less graphic sex, and language....for each of your series please...The sisters we have come to admire for their strength, you make into sex starved idiots ,who will do anything....Is that the purpose behind this series, and the Carpathians. sure feels like it. I really feel like this is a 2.5 but out of respect for her past ability I gave a three. I want to see Blythe happy but I really respect that character, so please don't turn her into a puddle of mindless lust, to a demanding jerk.

I liked the story better than the last one in the series (can't remember the title) but this one was more violent than the others in the series. Too violent. I skipped over some of the villains being evil. They were disgusting and did nothing to make the book better. It did the opposite. I'm guessing the villains had to be made that evil to justify the level of violence in the hero, to justify that he's willing to torture, not just kill.
There were three or four sex scenes that I skipped over.
A lot happened in the book, but I feel that what should have been the climax was something of an anti climax.
The fire bound thing was kind of an afterthought. It was mentioned in the book that both were passionate and fire bound but not entirely what it meant, just that they were special and could effect fire somehow or at least the hero could.
It was a bit long but considering all that happened that's understandable. It was worth reading and above average. The depravity of the villains was distastefully over the top. I liked that the books are interconnected with common characters, it makes that world the books are set in a bit richer imo.
I flew through the book, it was an easy read. I liked it and recommend it. I rate it 3 1/2 stars.
There were three or four sex scenes that I skipped over.
A lot happened in the book, but I feel that what should have been the climax was something of an anti climax.
The fire bound thing was kind of an afterthought. It was mentioned in the book that both were passionate and fire bound but not entirely what it meant, just that they were special and could effect fire somehow or at least the hero could.
It was a bit long but considering all that happened that's understandable. It was worth reading and above average. The depravity of the villains was distastefully over the top. I liked that the books are interconnected with common characters, it makes that world the books are set in a bit richer imo.

Just as action packed and un-put-downable as the previous installments in this exciting series. It’s just that since one has to buy into the whole “insta-love” thing in that paranormally way (which I can totally do) in order for the relationships to really sink in and seem real, I need a bit of time before all the sexcapades.
Sure, we can believe a “gifted” person can know immediately that they have found “the one” but still they are going to need to get to know each other at least a little bit before a reader (at least THIS reader) can truly buy into all the wham-bam sex/love for eternity stuff. This story didn’t allow that. It was EVERYTHING within the first couple of chapters. Because of that, the relationship never did really gel and feel real for me.

Oh, such a great book! I enjoyed it so much, it was so great, and I just can't wait for the final book in the Sisters of the Heart series, and then the next Sea Haven series!

Alright. So, for an honest review of this book. I have to start at the beginning. You see I decided a couple of days ago that I missed the library. I missed holding an actual book in my hand and the smell of the pages. So, I went to the library and there I picked up this book. Now, keep in mind NOWHERE on this paperback book does it say it’s a series and this is book 5!! I was expecting a one night stand not a six book relationship!!
Now, that I have cleared that up! On to the actual book review. As far as the writing and book as a whole it was okay. However, a lot of improvements could have been made.
First, the switching of point of views! It is a great tool when done right. However, this was done very wrong!
The author didn’t mark it or notify the reader at all of a POV change. It was strait up savage! I would get lost several times. Also, this is not “shoot your shot” POV! If your gonna change to more than two people POV you really need it segregated by chapter.
Second, the sex scenes were horrendous!! How in the world one scene lasts four chapters! Don’t ask me but this author did it! Also, they were very repetitive. Then half of them didn’t even make sense it was like they were thrown in there!
Third, this book was incredibly slow! There was several times I had to put it down. I swear it was like it just kept going even though it talked about the same house for the last page and a half!

I liked that the heroine is trusted and allowed to actually be on her own and do her thing but I didn't really feel like Casimir was the brother to come after Gavriil.
*I should add that Lissa is a badass assassin type physical person and her first, well into her 20's, sexual experience was described as having a "barrier". Again. Can we just get away from this idiocy in romance?

Casimir is my new favorite Prakenskii. He has a far different feel than his five brothers. Casimir is ruthless and dangerous when roused, yet he is not as dictating as his siblings, while more approachable and easy to like. I like how susceptible he is to self-doubt, occasionally hating the person the assassination training school turned him into. I love how Casimir understands Lissa's fiery disposition and the demons that continuously plague her. He better than most can empathize with her being a fellow fire elemental and orphaned tragically as a child. I especially like that he behaves as Lissa's voice of reason and grounds her from reacting too impulsively when patience and planning are necessary for success.
Lissa is everything I enjoy in a heroine: strong-willed, independent, and able to think for herself. I love her persistent insistence not to want or accept a Prakenskii mate yet she is the fastest to fall. Lissa recognizes her faults and quells her fiery nature to achieve her ultimate goals. I like that she is not too obstinate or stubborn to outright deny the truth Casimir reveals to her. Lissa is smart enough to rationalize when she needs help, and she is not too prideful to accept Casimir's assistance when necessary. Casimir and Lissa are beneficial to each other, where he acts as her grounding stone, she abolishes his destructive belief of being a heartless monster.
FIRE BOUND is book five in Christine Feehan's paranormal series, SISTERS OF THE HEART. It is great to see six of the seven Prakenskii brothers coming together for a fleeting moment, behaving as siblings. I especially enjoy the deepening aura of mystery surrounding the last and oldest Prakenskii. The author drops veiled nuggets about the man and his reasons for going off the radar.
FIRE BOUND is an enjoyable story about two fiery-tempered souls willing to sacrifice everything to ensure their loved ones' future. I enjoyed this book alot. It had many things I enjoy in a story--interesting characters, some organized crime, betrayal, and of course, love. However, I will advise you that elements of this story can be a bit harsh to read. Both Lissa and Casimer are tied to the fire elemental. Lissa is one of the Sisters of the Heart--a group of women who came together after undescribable violence in their lives to form a tightly woven family. Each of them are tied to an element and will mate with one of the Prakenskii brothers. Lissa is on a mission--she is avenging the murders of her family but must come face to face with a betrayal she never imagined. I liked both Lissa and Casimer although it took me a while to warm up to Casimer. It also set up the last book in this series well. Each book can be read as a standalone but I always recommending reading in order.

UGH...the ONLY thing it was missing was that horrible 1970's boom-chicka-bow-wow music and it would have porn! Setting, story line, character development...basically EVERYTHING...was secondary to sex scenes and bad, pretend D/s sex scenes at that. Possible trying to keep up with FSoG?? Not something I would read to anyone that enjoys an in-depth story.

ARC/unabridged audio/romance: I got the CD version from Goodreads in lieu of an honest review.
This review contains spoilers because it's that bad.
It was your below average romance novel. I had read several of the Drake Sisters books, but I struggled through 80% of the pages in each book because I do not like the author’s writing style, but I wanted to know what happened to the sisters. This Bound series is in the same world, but these “sisters” are women brought together by tragedy and not related. Their men are all brothers. ALL the character, hero or villain, are unredeemable; it’s to the point of the lesser of two evils.
Impressions on the first two discs: I hate the plot so far. It’s a bunch of people with rich people problems. They have so much time on their hands; they go around and seek drama by killing past enemies. This got old.
Then there’s the brothers living on the farm with their “marked” women. You could cut the testosterone with a knife with just one brother in the room, but there were too many cocks in the henhouse. They’re all mysterious assassins.
Then Casimir and Lissa hook up. I know what happened; blame it on Fifty Shades of Gray. Seriously, Casimir needs to go sit down somewhere and wind his watch. How dare he claim “his woman?” The revengeful Lissa does have a day job and Casimir treats her like a piece of furniture he wants to own and sit on three times a day.
Disc three is only unsafe sex and the author repetitive is on plot points that have already been brought up, over and over and over again. The sex is supposed to be steamy, but the dialog is horrible (the narrator does read this part very well, but I kept waiting for her to break out in laughter). Casimir says he’s clean and Lissa the 35 year old virgin is on birth control? Then Lissa agrees to be “psy marked” by Casimir. At this point I was missing Anita Blake more than ever before. Lissa is a doormat. Casimir is a fool. He thinks himself a strong man and and Lissa is a strong woman and they will clash. No, she is gullible and naive. (And Kasmir keep calling her names in Russian and she never asked what they mean. As a reader I think he is calling her a “gluttonous cat”.) I kept on thinking of when Anita Blake found out Jean-Claude “marked” her. She spent the next book and a half thinking of ways she could get away with killing him.
Discs four: They finally get out of bed. Lissa is on the move and again plot points are being repeated. The plot still has no continuity. So Casimir’s enemy killed his family when he was a child. Then sent Casimir and his brothers to a special assassin’s school…hoping they would grow up loyal and not come back to kill them? Seriously? Lissa’s backstory is even more preposterous. It would not be so bad if the author kind of glanced over it, but instead she keeps repeating points like she’s wants to talk me into Lissa and Casimir being heroic characters.
Disc five, six & seven: More detailed backstory on the bad guys; just when you can’t believe a human being can be that evil, the author throws in how one of them killed a child and beats & starves his dogs. Then the other bad guy isn’t bad enough, so the author details him raping his enemy’s widow and planning to put her into sex slavery; no, make that a passenger on a “snuff” cruise. Again, she is trying to justify the heroine and hero killing them later on in the book. Then Casimir has guilt that he’s not good enough for Lissa; for about as long as it takes to get her trousers down.
Disc 8 & 9: the wedding and honeymoon and me rolling my eyes. I guess Lissa isn’t the “strong woman” Casimir thinks she is. I give this “marriage” two months. Seriously, what year is this that you marry some guy you’ve known for a week? You’re not in love, you’re in lust. If you think Casimir’s brother is a “Neanderthal”, look at the guy you just married. And I looked up what entails a Russian Orthodox wedding and they only had the civil ceremony part. Lissa grew up in Italy. Seriously, she’s going to get married Orthodox? I had an uncle who married Orthodox. It’s a big deal to a Roman Catholic or a Protestant. Then they murder a couple of more enemies using their endless trove of cash to buy stuff like guns, explosives, and rental cars (using several false ID’s).
Disc 10: Gross, you don’t demand a woman get on all fours and put her face on a wool rug…on a hotel floor. When Lissa gets up, she isn’t itchy or completely grossed out by putting her face on a hotel wool rug. Then after another murder they commit, they finish their honeymoon. Casimir loves that Lissa is such a strong woman, but he is constantly making her do things that aren’t good for her. Riding topless and having sex in the sun is something a redhead should never ever do. Then there is that thing they did on the horse. Really? Between the lace seat and the unwashed hands, Lissa should have a huge rash on her va-j-j or at the very least, a bladder infection. Casimir is born in Russia and not Jewish, but he’s circumcised? Seriously?
After the horse scene, I decided to give this book one star.
Disc 11: It’s almost over. Nope, there’s another whole disc where our two heroes assassins go after Casimir’s enemies in Russia. The two have guns and large amounts of TNT within days and remember, Casimir doesn’t have a paying job. The bomb is completely explained away on how it was placed in the tunnels. Then when Casimir needs to use the psy-palm thingy, it doesn’t work. So what exactly is his power?...or hers for that matter? She supposed to be this creature of fire? And no, she doesn’t burn any of her victims to death, she just gets hot flashes whenever Casimir is around. The final action scene would have been better if the endless, repetitive narrative, explaining to me one more time, how bad these bad guys are was omitted.
For the final sex scene, Casimir waits until Lissa is about to climax and makes her promise to retire as an assassin, stay at home and make babies. Hate to break it to you Casimir, but that don’t count.
In conclusion: This book was awful and the editor needed to cut about 200 pages out and fix all the continuity problems. I did not like or relate to either of the main characters. Lissa is going to regret marrying Casimir. He has no redeeming qualities and no job skills. I guess he can get a job parking cars or tutoring Russian at a community college.

Another hot installment in the Seahaven series. For some reason I like Casimir the best. He’s domineering but still has a deep appreciation for Lissa’s strength and abilities. They meshed well together and the danger and intrigue was perfect for them both. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and the hot hot romance made me melt. The romantic suspense was so riveting that I forgot it was a paranormal romance, and I liked that. Overall it I enjoyed it very much and cannot wait for the next brother to have his turn.

My Review:
I've been waiting for Cas's story but I'm insanely disappointed. I don't know what has happened to Christine's writing. It started off okay but I'm at the point that I don't think Christine is the one writing her books anymore.
I just can't believe she would fail this way. One book after another, every series has been horrendously affected by the increasing violence against women in her work.
I didn't understand the relationship I don't get the dragged out plot, the repetition of information we already know, I don't understand the fact that I can't tell who is the bad guy from the good guy or who is supposed to be the good guy because the heroes are just as violent and manipulative as the criminals.
The thing I used to love most about Christine's characters were that the women were empowered and the men embraced and cared for their women, now they just mess with their heads, their emotions, and treat them like dirt. Its an extreme change that has continued to the point where I'm wondering where or if it will end.

I have only read the first book in this series and then this one so during parts of the book I felt a little lost but overall I enjoyed how Feehan had these two bad ass characters come together.
Lissa is a glass blower and her work is getting noticed all over the world. She is set to do some special pieces for hotels overseas. Although she is going to miss the women who she lives with this is something she not only needs to do for herself but in the income that she will make will help on their farm. But Lissa is keeping secrets from the ones closest to her but getting revenge on the people who took her family needs to be taken care of before she can return home to the life she has made.
Casmir grew up as an assassin and hasn't seen his brothers in a while. When one of his brothers calls him to enlist the safety of Lissa while she is away he agrees to help. What Casmir didn't expect was to learn that Lissa is his other half nor that she is also an assassin out for justice. While their nights burn hot during the day they team up to get the job done so they can start their lives together but around every turn danger lurks and they can only hope they make it out alive.
I loved how this couple was assassins! I thought it was unique and creative of Feehan to build her characters that way. I really liked these two and how well they connected and understood each other even if that happened in such a short time.
This story had a lot more sex scenes then I was expecting. They were a little on the long side and what I mean by that is pages but they were detailed and didn't come off as meaningless. This couple took their time figuring out what the other person liked and I love how Casmir was so alpha. It made him even hotter!
As story begins to really unfold and the truth behind who murdered her family is revealed I thought Lissa did a great job in holding things in and only let Casmir in on how deep it hurt her and the betrayal that went with it. I never expected that person but I love how Lissa still wanted to finish the job even if it meant killing who she had too.
Is this book worth the read? Absolutely! I couldn't get enough of it and makes me want to start the series from the very beginning. It looks like one book is left if this series and after meeting the next couple I can't wait!!!
