<1>There’s a reason they call him “Ten,” and it’s not just the number of his jersey…1>

Dalton Cole is a jock. A notorious, cocky, foul-mouthed, impossibly arrogant jock. measurement.

... I’m sure that last part is just a rumor. Did I mention he’s also an underwear model? He’s slept his way through half the woman in Georgia, and he’s got his pick of any girl on campus.

Not me. I’m the studious one, the one headed to med school - the girl with a plan. I am not into football or the neanderthals who play it, and I want nothing to do with that smug, cocky prick with the legendary record - or his infamous "package." But it’s not up to me…

The University just hired my dad as the head football coach, and Dalton’s mother just said yes to marrying him. His star player? Dalton. College football’s biggest bad boy is looking to score, and I think I’m the goal…

4 Score! Stars

This one has mixed reviews and to my surprise it was pretty good. It was a bit angsty at times and the Heroine did frustrate me, but overall, it’s a cute sports romance / step brother book.

Dalton is the star football player on college campus. His mom is getting married. Hailey is a nerd wanting to become a doctor. Her dad is getting married. Soon they will be stepbrother and stepsister.

What worked for me

The beginning really got me hooked. I liked the typical Hero, he’s cocky, handsome and he knows he’s the shit on campus. He also knows he has a big dick. He also has sex with many girls and sometimes more than one girl at a time. So you can check that off.

Hailey is the cute girl with glasses, very nerdy and very sweet. I love her relationship with her father and he really took to my heart! It’s super cute.

The banter between Hailey and Dalton is crazy and you will just scream at the pages for them to kiss! Also there isn’t too much side characters to waste space in the storyline. I like the “friends”, but sometimes I feel like authors use too much side character dialogue to make a book interesting.

The steamy scenes were hot.

What needed worked on

The writing can be a bit a bit repetitive. I think if I read the word dick one more time my eye balls are going to fall out of my head. Yes he has a big dick, yes all the girls love it, but it’s said like then thousand times.

As much as I love the banter between the main character, the Heroine pushes the Hero away WAY too much. I was getting whip lash. Every time he makes a comment towards her, she continually makes a comment back about how she doesn’t want him. It was really adorable in the beginning, but by the 75% mark, I was getting really annoyed and I wanted to slap her.

I thought the reporter should have been a focal point throughout the book, just the few times she was sprinkled in, felt like it was just an add on.

Overall, I liked the book and it could have been a five star for me if it was tweaked a little bit. Maybe a little less tension and angst? Then again, I’m not fond of angst, so there you go.

Every cliche. Every twist. Every stereotype. Every scenario. Every sex scene. Every dialogue. Every innuendo. Every Non existent plot twist. Every word. Every "years later" ending. Every giant penis story. Every Alpha Male predictable scene...

Its all here.

You're in
or
You're out
In other words...if you got time to waste. its there.

If you want something better...burn it.

Parting words
I feel like an ass for actually reading all of this. I think I lost as many IQ points reading this as I did when I used to smoke weed. ( but weed was way more fun)
If you enjoyed this its a sure sign that you need a life... Like ... any life. Even if it means donuts and and unicorns. Smoking weed or... Wheel of fortune. Paint drying! Get creative!

Hitting the playing field once again with another foul-mouthed football player and his coach's daughter. Another standard college sports-related romance that was true to the normal format and stretched the imagination far beyond the goal lines. It wasn't anything new or different -- just your usual college guys and gals, frat parties, gods of the sports team and the nerdy girl who steals the guys heart and makes him a better person. Yeah, fun to read but that only goes so far.

FYI - This story ends at about 50%, and a new "bonus" story begins. Wasn't exactly expecting that addition and I would have rather had more of a finish up with "Score."

This book took about 100 cliches from every sports romance and tried to make it work. It didn't.

The author should've done a little bit more research about being a freshman college athlete on scholarship. No way would Dalton be the big man on campus without ever starting a football game. He's still in the "practice" phase of his career, and it's pretty unrealistic to assume he would be the starter. Where are the other quarterbacks? Also, he would not be eligible for a scholarship if he was a "paid" underwear model. Really, an underwear model with a 10 inch dick? And the drinking on the parade float? what kind of college is this? Pretty sure freshman college scholarship athletes must live on campus their freshman year.

The beginning of the book clearly states that their parents are "eventually" getting married. And yet, they constantly refer to each other as "Step" siblings. They aren't!

All his sexual exploits make me want to take a shower. Not sexy at all to be such a man whore...

Hailey's character was kinda bland. Nothing special. Dalton was way too cocky for my liking. There was no humour, which really sucked because I feel as if humour would've made this story so much better. For me it was a quick read, nothing that makes you think.

First sentence:
"Oh my God, is that his dick?"

Well, hello, there. Nice to meet ya~

Highlights:

• Freshman in college.

• Nerdy, goody-two-shoes, smart ass chick... Who's hot.

• Dickhead in love with winning, football, and collecting pussy.. Who's also hot with a "farm-boy grin."

• His mom (dean of their college) marrying her dad (football coach at their school.)

• She says no.

• No one says no to him.

• A bet to get in her pants.

• A huge 10 in. bulge in his jockeys (which he professionally modeled) that is discussed every five minutes.

Uhm, dialogue ...

"God, are you playing with yourself?

"Oh, yeah, I always just start jerking it in front of girls, that's sort of my move."

"Wouldn't exactly be out of character."

"Relax, I'm just warming it back up. That water's fuckin' cold."

*moons her*

Warming it up? Wtf?

Anyway..

When she pulls out a fucking measuring tape just so she can visualize the magnitude of 10 inches, I know this is just not for me.

DNF @ sample - too cliche, too repetitive, cheese dialogue, cardboard characters. Not to mention the author did not lie when she says she knows nothing about sports; she doesn't, and she needs to add college life to that list of 'don't know shit about,' as well.

4 Hail Mary Stars

After reading 2 sports romances this month that didn't feature a scrap of the sport they were written around it was nice finally get a book that gave me a little Football. While I prefer a heavy dose of the sport the book is based on Aubrey told us straight up in the beginning of the book that she knows so little about Football that she would do her best and I can respect that.

Welcome to the world of Taboo relationships: Two college students (both over 18) have their lives intertwined when their parents start to date and after a short courtship get engaged. When feelings start to blossom between the Jock and the Nerd they have to decide if it's worth the scandal to be together or if they should just walk away.

I will definitely be following this Author in the future!
57% - OMG I had to take a deep breathe because Damn it was Steammmmmy!
Roxie- College dorm mate is the perfect best friend for Hails. Nice to see a solid female friendship without drama.
My only negative drawback from this book is the amount of eye rolls all the characters do... I think they rolled their eyes at least 50 times. Just wasn't necessary tick.

Couldn't do it. Couldn't overlook just how insanely stupid this story is.

Hotshot super jock, Manwhore, model, everything going for him hero? Check
Geeky, almost a virgin, has career goals, studious, coach daughter, no interest in sports heroine? Check
Stupid, carefree, non responsible, permissive parents? Check

I stopped because of the last thing I just read. The coach asking a known skirt chasing, arrogant BOY to keep an eye on his daughter because she may just get caught up in chasing her nerdy aspirations!! FFS! Is he for real? Why don't you ask the wolf to walk red riding hood to grandma's?

So the heroine has goals but falls almost immediately under the spell of her creepy stepbrother who has a $1000 bet with his loser team on who is gonna hit that. Nice

I overlooked that. Then his self talk on how all the women want him, he could have more than one at a time if he wanted but he wants the coach daughter because it's a challenge.

That's it. We all know they are gonna do it, embarrass the parents, themselves and then have some sort of change in attitude. Read at your own peril🙃

Rather than repeat the story, I'll give my honest reaction, which was that I really enjoyed this book. This is the first book I read by this author and won't be the last. The slightly taboo angle wasn't icky or overdone, and made sense, especially from Hailey's viewpoint. And though I'm a football fan myself, I liked that she wasn't, given that her dad was a coach. It gave her an endearing quirk that worked for me.

Dalton was a little arrogant--okay, a lot arrogant--and experienced for his age. But there was something endearing about him, like the flirty guy who got by with outrageous stuff because he wasn't an ass about it. I really liked that he didn't sleep around after he met Hailey, even though he still bought into the peer pressure stuff to a degree. It made sense with his character and the circumstances.

The sex was hot, the characters likable, the situations believable, the writing enjoyable. I'm definitely looking forward to other books by Aubrey Irons, and will be reading her backlist now that I've discovered her. Kudos, Ms. Irons!

WILL THE COCKY JOCK WIN THE NERDY COACH'S DAUGHTER?

I have read several of Aubrey Irons's books and have to say they were very good. I really like her writing style. I think in this book she captures the basics to many of the colleges and their alumni recruiting tactics. The book was thoroughly thought out and well planned. The story line worked the characters so that you could see the where she was headed with her plot. I was actually looking for the revelation of Dalton and Hailey's relationship to exposed by a different person than who exposed it. So I have to say that the that was another good point about the book. The surprise element of the revelation by one source rather than another. You have party brawls, sports, victory, defeat, egos and groupies. What more could you ask for in a good book? Oh, I forgot the explosive SEX!!! I recommend this book to mature audiences 18 years and older. You will absolutely love it!

There is a reason they call Dalton Cole "Ten" and it isn't just because of the number on his jersey, or the Ten for Tennessee his middle name. Many find it hard to believe that a certain part of his body measures "Ten" inches. He has been drafted to play football for Georgia State and appears to be the biggest thing to hit the football circuit in forever. He is MVP for his high school team, a media favorite, a underwear model, and a shoe-in to the NFL in a few years. His mother is the new Dean to the University and he is very cocky and sure of himself. He not only thinks he is the King of football, but he thinks he is "God's Gift to Women." In other words he is a true JOCK through and through. He has his pick of any girl anywhere, and yet for some reason he is drawn to this nerdy, red head, green eyed girl who is soon to be his step-sister.

Hailey Garrison is the daughter of the new head football Coach, Jim Garrison, to the college in Georgia where Dalton Cole will be playing and Dalton's mother is the Dean of the college. Hailey has always been a very good student and is only attending college at Georgia until she can get into Columbia University where she will attend Med School. Even though her father is all football, Hailey doesn't like football and she doesn't like neanderthal jocks and she certainly wants nothing to do with the cocky prick who is soon to be her step-brother. Hailey keeps trying to fight Dalton's nasty remarks and advances.....she only has to hold out for one semester. Unfortunately it is getting harder to fight him off since he knows where her dorm room is and she has a room at his moms house.

Can Hailey keep Dalton at arms length, or does she want to? Is she just another one of his conquests or does she mean something to him? Can Dalton keep his reputation in tact to protect his career and that of the coach and his mom? Will Dalton and Hailey give in to their growing need for each other?

No Spoilers. ARC free book given for honest review.

Title: Score
Author: Aubrey Irons
(arch for honest review)

Authors writing style: I have read several of Aubrey Iron’s books and love them. They stories are detailed, heart felt, and HEA endings. There are very well written. I have reread several of her books and it’s why she is one of my favorite authors. This story is about a soon to be step family and everyone finding love. Something everyone search for.
Overview: Hailey and her dad, coach, have been alone for a while. Hailey lost her mom early in life to a sudden accident. They show up at Heather’s house, coach’s new girlfriend, to have a family dinner. But when she arrived, she was hit with two mega surprises. First she meets, Dalton, aka “Ten” the biggest college football player slash underwear model. He is in the pool with two half naked girls and drinking. Then he drops the bomb on her that her dad asked Heather to marry him. Dalton is on cocky jerk in her eyes and she wants nothing to do with him. But her dad informs her that they will be moving into Heather’s house and Dalton is looking after her. Hailey tries everything to ignore him and his social life.
Dalton “Ten” is the newest star to college football. His mom is the Dean, and he has a full ride scholarship to Georgia State. He is King of the campus and can do whatever he wants, whom ever he wants, no matter what. But coach’s new position as a step dad as well as his coach is a tough balance for him. He loves the coach, but soon finds that he is in a bad spot. Coach wants him to look after his “nerdy” daughter. That was going to be a fun challenge that is until he sees the body she has. Dalton soon finds that he is intrigued by her. She is smart, sexy in her nerdy clothes even though they cover her up, and the fact the she doesn’t like him at all. He is willing to do anything to get under her skin that is until she gets under his skin.
Will the two ever find a balance in their new lives? Will Coach understand what is daughter is going to do in her life? Will Dalton continue down the start studded football field life or choose a new path?

Thoughts: First of all, immediately before reading Score, I read another very similar book. Football

QB standout meets Coaches daughter, forbidden love, etc. There were differences of course, but the biggest differences were how much more well-written Score is, how much more connected to the characters I felt and how with her writing I felt their love. It didn’t feel rushed, jumping from point A to point B. It felt comfortable and believable because of the story development.

So yes, Dalton “Ten” Cole is the most cocky, sure of himself jock, your eyes will ever have the pleasure of gazing upon. Actually, gazing sounds weak because one good look at this blue-eyed, underwear model hottie in the flesh will leave you panting and your girlie parts peaked and quivering. Dalton should earn royalties from Victoria’s Secret for all the panty dropping that commences at his feet. His starting QB status makes him King on campus and the King is ready to hold court.

Since Hailey Garrison’s dad Jim started seeing Georgia State’s Dean, Heather Cole, six months ago, Hailey has managed to avoid running into her son Dalton. Despite her father being a high school football coach, and now the head coach for Georgia State, Hailey has no interest in football and certainly not any oversexed, football jocks. She has her college career carefully planned out. She’ll reapply her spring term to Columbia University for pre-med and become a doctor one day.

Upon their first introduction, sparks fly. Ginger red-haired Hailey quickly despises this aggressive, dirty talking, arrogant jock who shamelessly teases her, pulls out all his best lines, and enjoys riling her up. From his perspective, she’s hiding behind that holier-than-thou attitude, librarian bun and nerdy glasses and damned if he doesn’t love a challenge!

Hailey’s cut off shorts are a hit with the team after they help her move into her dorm room. The bet is . . . carnal knowledge . . . no that’s a line from Top Gun. The bet is one grand “. . . to whoever taps that first.”

SCORE-A SIZZLING-STEPBROTHER SPORTS ROMANCE

This story focuses on; DALTON COLE, a traffic-stopping gorgeous, hotshot, buffed underwear model, college QB with high protective instincts; HAILEY GARRISON, a nerdy, fiery red-headed beauty who has the dream of becoming a doctor.

What you’ll find in the story: a cast of remarkably impressive and engaging characters; fantastic story-line, powerful vivid scene descriptions, camaraderie, spectacular banter, action, heart-rending moments, heroic deed, jaw-dropping earth shattering heart-throbbing sensual romance, and a fabulous conclusion leaving you wanting more.

Dalton has it made; he was Statewide MVP in high school, a promising NFL career on the horizon, is the new QB for Georgia State College, can have any girl he wants, but when he meets his step sister to be, she turns his whole cocky world upside down, her I don’t care attitude challenges him. Hailey is the daughter of the new Georgia State Coach, her soon to be step mom is the Dean of the College; she doesn't like football, or jocks. Her step brother to be continually teases her with his dirty talk driving her nuts, and staying away from him proves to be impossible.

WOW/SPECTACULAR fast paced well written read by a truly gifted author. The combination of fantastic dialog, intriguing plot and breathtaking scene descriptions keep you glued to the story from start to finish. I so loved the banter between Dalton and Hailey, and their romance is red-hot and filled with unwavering devotion. Dalton is a most valiant hero, and grows to be a worthy beau. This was a most entertaining read and I so enjoyed it. If you treasure fantasy romance this is a terrific book for your library. In the world of fantasy romance the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservation I recommend this book.

This book may combust in your hands, beware! ;-)

There is this most arrogant, gorgeous football player with a big sized-complex and a cute, glasses-wearing, righteous girl-nerd. When they meet aka clash, it's fun, it's exciting, and it's totally worth panting for.

This novel may seem nothing new under the Sun, but it worked for me because of its vivid narrative, its quick pace and lots of entertaining situations.

Once his mother and her father get engaged, Dalton and Hailey start to share time and space, and the result is fun and steamy and loaded with naughty banter. I really appreciated one scdene when this over-the-top quarterback is faced with a veritable banquet of women, yet the author manages to come out unscathed with no bad feelings from the reader.

The adoration Dalton gets from this star status is well depicted. Also, the narrative builds up a crescendo of passion between the characters that trascends the pages. It was HOT. And made my breath hitch and my lets twitch. Fair warning!
The double POV allows a perfect view of the evolution of the characters' thoughts and feelings towards each other. She doesn't fawn over him, yet has to fight against the temptation posed by his abundant charms and his legendary cock(i)ness. He sees her as a challenge to his seduction talents and not an easy conquest as usual, but soon sees all her qualities and becomes addicted.

I had a great time with the fun dialogues and the provocative situations between an arrogant football player and a nerd with goals and inner strength. The end was full of little threats to their unexpected love and, along with the rounded epilogue, made for a satisfying sensation when the final page came about.

4.5☆

My favorite Stepbrother Romance by this author to date!! Loved Dalton and Hailey in the end, but to start with I didn't think much to them, Dalton because he came across as an entitled player, and Hailey because she thinks she is too good for Georgia and especially her new school. That being said I did love how Dalton and Hailey were first introduced to each other (I'm talking about the tight, white, and very wet underwear Dalton is sporting) and I did warm up to both characters pretty quickly. Especially when Dalton stands up for Hailey to his teammates.

What I loved most about this story though is the banter that occurs between Hailey and Dalton, not to mention the sex was pretty hot too! and Hailey's friend and neighbour Roxie was a fantastic addition to the story. I do have a teeny tiny complaint though, which is the confrontation between Hailey's dad and Coach to the Football team and Dalton was omitted and I would of really liked to read that, but do get why it wasn't included,

Overall though a really great read, and one that kept me hooked and I was rooting for Hailey and Dalton to make it. The ending was especially good too, and I would happily recommend it to others, and would urge readers who are not particularly fans of the stepbrother genre to give it a go as it is really is much more than that.

This is a 5 star must read.
Dalton "Ten" Cole is the exact reason Hailey stays away from football players. Even though her Dad is a famous high school coach she doesn't like football or the egotistical meatheads who play it. When her application to attend Columbia is turned down she is stuck attending the State college where her Dad just got a job as the head football coach, and his girlfriend is the Dean of Students she is far from happy. When her Dad invites her to dinner at Heather's house she doesn't expect him to break the news of their engagement to her. She also has tried to stay away from Heather's football star, underwear model son. But that is going to be impossible now that he is going to be her new step brother and attending the same college has her. Then to make matters worse he is her Dads star Quarterback. Even though she doesn't like football she does support her Dad so this puts her front and center for all of Dalton's arrogant stunts. Dalton is a man-whore. He loves to party and f***. He also has no problem walking around in those famous underwear he models. When he meets his new step sister he see a nerdy little Librarian. But he can't say she don't ruffle his feathers. So he does his best to get under her skin. This book is funny. I loved every word. I couldn't put it down.

This was my first Aubrey Irons book and this one caught my eye because it was on sale. I am not a huge sports romance kind of gal (not a fan of baseball, football, etc.) but SCORE was one hell of a pleasant surprise!

I want to keep this short and sweet, so here are the list of things I really loved about the book.

1. The banter between Dalton aka Ten and Hailey was funny and hot
2. The sexual tension the author created between the H / h was phenomenal.
3. The the sex scenes finally did happen, HOLY MOSES, they were panty scorching good!
4. **Possible Spoiler** When you get these stepbrother romances or taboo romances where the H is not supposed to touch the h because her father is the head coach of the H's team, for example, you tend to expect that the father is going to find out and flip out. I give the author tremendous credit for breaking the formula up here. Instead of Hailey's dad flipping out, he is impressed and respects that Dalton was man enough and had enough balls to confess to him that he not only has been dating his daughter but that he is in love with her. In fact, I thought both scenes where Hailey and her father have a heart to heart and Dalton and his mother have a heart to heart was very touching and unexpected when compared to many other books with this trope.

SCORE was well deserving of a 5 start rating.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. Didn't want to put it down. I was worried that this was going to be your typical superstar football player who sleeps around the entire book. But that didn't happen. Now Dalton was that guy that would screw any girl that offered herself up to him...and there were many. But as soon as he sees Hailey the first time, he wasn't with anyone else. And I loved that about him. There have been so many books that the guy wants the girl but still sleeps around and that only causes problems later. Dalton realized that he actually cared how Hailey saw him and since her father was his new football coach, he wanted to be a better person and football player for both of them.

The witty banter between Hailey and Dalton was amazing. I loved the chemistry that they had together. There were a few times when I thought Dalton was going to mess up and screw around with a few other girls but he showed how much Hailey coming into his life made him grow up. Hailey's father even knew Dalton could be more if he just put his mind and heart to it. They were so worried what everyone would think about them getting together because their parents were about to get married but in the end love was all that mattered. And that is what surprised Hailey and Dalton both. Neither was expecting true and deep feelings to arise.

This book was AMAZING! I was hooked from the very beginning. Dalton "Ten" Cole plays football for a (GA) college team that his mom (Heather) happens to be the dean of. His soon to be stepfather (Jim) is the head coach and father of his soon to be stepsister, Hailey. Hailey will soon become the object of Dalton's affection. At first their relationship starts off as flirtatious with Hailey not succumbing to sexy Dalton's advances. But when temptation hits can Hailey not really give into Dalton? Of course not, sparks fly. These two characters are very sexy and their scenes are smoking hot and I loved their back and forth banter. Cue drama (not everything is smooth sailing)... Dalton like most guys runs his mouth and something he said that he really didn't mean may come to bite him back. Will Dalton and Hailey's relationship make it past physical attraction? Can these two get past the "step" sibling title to really fall for each other? Dalton is the ultimate sexy dirty bad boy. Hailey is a smart girl with the heart of a lion. If you are looking for a fun sexy read about step-siblings then this is the book for you. I absolutely adored this book and cannot wait to read more from the lovely Aubrey Irons.

I absolutely loved this book! It was a lovely light slow burn romance between the two main characters, who's parents are engaged to be married!!!
Hailey is a 'nerd' with nothing more important than getting the best grades and into med school. She hates football with a passion including the 'jocks' that play! Her father is a football coach (she does what she can to support him though). When her father announces he is getting married to the dean of the college, who's son is the 'famous' quaterback and underwear model and major man-whore Dalton Cole... Her life is about to change forever!!!
Dalton lives to play football and loves to f*** women! He has women literally throwing themselves at him constantly, not just because of his gorgeous looks and body or that he's a fantastic football player, but because of his c***... They don't call him 'TEN' for nothing!!! When he meets his new 'step sister to be', she doesn't even want to speak to him, this intrigues him and now... He wants her!!!
It's a lovely story with plenty of humour but is also you can feel the passion burning between the two as soon as their eyes meet the very first time! I truly enjoyed it and couldn't put it down once i started!!!... BEAUTIFUL!!!

I received this for a honest review.

Dalton Cole was this true playboy. He was also the QB and loved how women hung all over him. Dalton saw himself going to college and sleeping his way through the cheerleading team. All that stopped the moment he saw Hailey.

Hailey had dreams. She wanted to go to Columbia college. She dreamed of getting her medical agree. Her dreams were shattered the moment she did not get in. That does not mean she is going to give up on trying. If not getting into Columbia was not bad enough now she is finding out that her father is marrying Dalton Coles mother.

The fact the Hailey barely gives Dalton the time of day just makes Dalton want her more. Though Hailey’s father is Dalton’s coach Hailey is just not into the sport. The last thing she wants is to hook up with a jock.

Things get hot and heavy between Hailey and Dalton. There is a reporter that is determined to make destroy anything between Hailey and Dalton. What will happen when Dalton’s fans find out he is in love with his future stepsister? How will Hailey and Dalton’s parents hand the two of them together?
