They say you can’t keep a good man down – and certainly not if he’s a special agent.

But in End Game, thriller supremo John MacRae has a shock in store for fans of his action-man hero who specialises in quietly doing the dirty work of his Government paymasters.

When Fritz, his self-confessed ‘enforcer’, gets the call from Whitehall, it is to help with cleaning up a little bit of in-house corruption.

But before you can say ‘bent copper’ he finds himself in deep trouble after dealing violently with a knife-wielding Lee Rigby-style attacker of a guardsman while on his way home.

Only this time he did what he thought was right, not what he was paid to do.

With lavish detail on covert operations, police interrogation procedures, surveillance techniques, bomb-making, media manipulation and ruthless treachery, we follow Fritz as he is hounded by the press into hiding, inveigled into drug dealing, sent to deal with subterranean bomb plot intrigue and some necessary and brutal ‘terminations’ until finally he has to be dispatched – ‘for his own safety’ – on a mission to out-of-the-way Afghanistan.

How can any man survive inside such a tortuous labyrinth of lies and dissemblance? And who is the mysterious blue-eyed cripple spotted in a remote gulag in China?

The latest in the popular series, End Game once again combines riveting authenticity and technical mastery with a plot – and sub-plots – that are as sometimes uncomfortably real and tangibly close to home. It shines a light into global events that have dominated the past decade and some that are as fresh as last week.

John MacRae is the cover name of a former senior Intelligence Officer with a Special Forces background. He has written extensively on intelligence and military history, and has worked for BBC television and other TV companies as an advisor on military and intelligence subjects. He saw active service in the Falkland Islands, Cyprus, Arabia, and Northern Ireland.

Excellent Writing. However… Confusion!

The whole series is excellent, don’t you worry about that!

This is a seriously good author, bordering on excellence, so; what’s the next move?

These books were written a number of years ago. I read book one first, as one does, only to discover a whole synchronicity issue with the storyline! The thing is, you have to read book 1 first or you’ll miss relevant stuff.

I think I’d like to know if the author has plans to continue the overall ‘world’ he’s created, regardless of individual characters?

If the author reads this, maybe you can send a newsletter out?

Well done, more, please!

Lazy writing

So I've, read the series and really enjoyed it , however this last book has just been a lazy story ... the first 10 % of the book has been lifted straight from one of the previous stories , and so has the last 20% barring one chapter , quite frustrating really. Middle of the book was OK but after reading the other books I really didn't want to read large chunks of a previous book , I know why it's been done , you can read it as a stand alone , if you haven't read the others. However I just think it's lazy .

I enjoyed the whole series of books, my only criticism is that I was taken over the same episodes that happens throughout then series many times. I know that someone would pick up book 3 as their first book but the repetition did get to me, but I can't wait for book 7 so I am entrapped in this series, must be good.

Fantastic read and the conclusion is open ended

The earlier books had a bit of a loose style but this has tight writing great plot and an ending appropriate for future spinoffs. Worth q read and looking forward to many more of his books

Disjointed

I enjoyed the whole series but in parts it seemed repetitive which I found confusing. Still they were difficult to put down.

Rehashed

I know that this is a spin off the original vengeance man. But while chapters were lifted into the book

Read six

2 to 6 are same story as 1 waste of time. Not recommending. Would have really been annoyed if not had kindle unlimited.

The final adventure in the Vengeance Man series. More clandestine government shenanigans and an ending which may surprise many.

I received a free copy via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

I have not read any of the previous Vengeance Man Thrillers.
I have to say that this was just a run of the mill thriller and I did not find it very exciting.
Disappointed.
