Avery Hawthorne is down on her luck. As the threat of eviction looms over her head, the small town waitress needs to find a new job. Fast.
When an advertisement for a temporary marital arrangement offers more money than she could ever hope to have, Avery decides that the one-year commitment might just be worth it.
That is, until she finds out the full terms of the agreement. Can she agree to travel to a strange planet for the sole purpose of providing the prince with an heir? Or will the idea of settling for a loveless marriage, even if only temporary, make the fortune she would receive as payment not worth it?
Will Errion, her groom-to-be, hold her to the surrogacy demands of the contract? Or, will he put his bloodline, and future, on the line to protect Avery from the consequences of backing out.
She needed a job or she would be homeless. The add sounded like a mail-order bride request but when she answers it she finds out it is much much more. Just a fun read and sweet romance.
So, I've finally caught up with the last one in the series (so far, I hope.) I love these quick ones. They are short sweet and to the point. Exactly, what I'm looking for right now. I enjoyed this one.
Avery is in desperate need of a job. Her waitress job is not covering her bills and she's 7 days away from eviction when she spots the ad. Married for a year with a large compensation at the end. What does she have to lose? Errion, needs an heir. The best way to do that is by contract. Oh, and poor Avery, she just doesn't realize her contract will be fulfilled on another planet.
I felt for Avery. I could feel her anxiousness and then her struggle and eventual pain. I almost feel like this might replace the second book as my fav. It's close, I can tell you that. I really hope there is more in this series.
This story took me by surprise love how the story is laid out. The characters are made for each other and how they interacted with each other made me want to read more. I could not put this story down had to read all of it.
I look forward to reading more from this author and see how her other novels are.
Very very short read. Felt like an abrupt end. There wasn't much world building, considering it's an alien romance story. Would have loved to see more of this alien world. I think with an expanded version, it could have been a more complete book.
He should have took his money back from the smuggler because he talked. I loved their story, so funny to see them trying not to jump each other's bones.
I found this a bit on the boring side TBH. I found Avery frustrating. The "scorching scenes" are just not. I would have been nice if it was told from both points of view but it was all Avery.
