As the war grinds on, Captain Sheridan and Master Sergeant Cole find themselves assigned to look after Komada, a Chosen defector. Book 1 and this are, IMO, the 2 best of series. Military kinda means organized units, camadre, equipment / weapon mix n application +++. Unfortunately author puts his MCs thru situations that are cowboy. 2 of the other books, they're in independent command where they're looking for terrorists, etc.
Call me old school, old fashion but military is fire tms, squads, platoons .... task organized to locate and destroy OpFor.
Author, overall, does fine job with battles, weapons and some of the tactics. Character development OK w some good dialogue. Too bad he feels that a Capt n Mstr Sgt are best utilized as independent operators of sorts going on some questionable, credible missions. What happened to Seals, Green Berets, CIA, etc doing what they're supposed to be doing and have marines operate as infantry companies.
That way, when I get book that's mil, not spec ops which I usually take a pass, won't get disappointed. BTW, because of descriptions I did not get books 3 n 4 because they were spec ops which usually turns into super hero(s) take on n destroy zillions of bad guys. Very credible stuff.
This was another good one ,the poor guys and women seem to have some bad luck on their side this time . I'm a veteran so trust me when I say that they have a bad luck streak going . Anyway it was action packed from start to finish . So I'm on to the next one. Oh when I say that they have bad luck going , they must have some good luck to because they keep getting out alive.
Captain Sheridan is back rescuing Earth and Terran space from the Kurgan and their Chosen fighters. A lot of the story covers the fanatic religion of the Kurgan and a new charismatic leader.
This is a great book and I can't wait until the next book in the series comes out. I recommend this book to anyone who likes science fiction space opera books .
