“He killed them, Cotton! Killed ‘em both!”. “What are you talking about, Jim? Who killed who?” Cotton reached for the bloody tarp, but let go as Jim climbed over the seat and into the back of the wagon. “Slim…my stable hand! Dirty bastard killed them!” “Who did he kill?” “Karen, my little girl,” Larkin yelled as he jerked the bloody tarp back. Matthew Blue is known as Manhunter by the Comanche. He has been hired to track a serial killer in rural Kansas, only to discover a different killer is following him. His nemesis has sworn to see Matthew dead, even if it means leaving a trail of dead bodies to see it done. “A riveting tale of justice in the old west.” Dallas Review “Manhunter is an enigma. In the business of bringing in fugitives, he is also a caring man with a conscience. When it comes to suspense, nobody writes it as well as Major Mitchell.” Pat Decker Nipper, author of Love On The Lewis And Clark Trail “A vivid story of a half white, half Indian bounty hunter trying to bring in a young killer, while dealing with the contrast of cultures. Well written.” Tom Alberti, author of The Horseman series.
Major is a Southern California native who currently lives in Northern California with his wife and editor, Judy. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys writing fiction based on actual history, as well as children's books and contemporary romance. Best described as a “nice guy,” Major Mitchell is a former pastor, and credits his writing abilities to eight years of writing sermons three times a week. (In truth, he actually began by writing and illustrating comic books as a child). His conversational style immediately engages the reader. He has developed an uncanny eye for detail, while creating characters believable enough for the reader to feel that they know them. His ability to create tension will have you turning page after page. A member of Western Writers of America and a frequent guest speaker at historical meetings and schools on the West Coast, he has also written several songs, recorded a CD of traditional country/folk music, and occasionally takes the stage as a singer. He lives with his wife Judy and their dog Molly in Northern California. lives with his wife Judy and their dog Molly in Northern California. OK, THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BOOK AMONGST MAJOR MITCHELLS COLLECTION, I CANT SAY MUC WITHOUT GIVING AWAY THE STORY LINE...BUT THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ !!!!
This is the story of the half breed bounty hunter and his quest to find the murder of two young people. Man-hunter, as her was known, started his search for Otis/ Frank at the family farm of Harold, Vicky and daughter Carol. The author is Major Mitchell and he has done an amazing job with the plot and the characters. He has filled each and every page with adventure and excitement. You will greatly enjoy reading this tale. I highly recommend it.
Man hunter was an intense Western, with plenty of romance, gunfire, cowboys, Indians, and missionaries. It was too intense for me at times, but if you love Westerns with all of the above and lots of gunshots and wounds, this may be the book for you. Enjoy this book if this is your favorite genre.
A wounded soldier; a beautiful wife; and, a darling baby girl who loved “Mat’ew.” There is so much going on with outlaws, a man named “Manhunter,” and the Sheriff who needed help to bring calm to his town. I loved this story and couldn’t put the book down. Horror came to those who tried to bring peace to southern Kansas.
There was a good story line for the book. Just to in-depth in the personal life of some of the characters. Manhunter and Alice’s characters were developed and very detailed. The story will be interesting to some and some will get bored and not finish the book. What happened to the western life story?
Loved everything about this novel. These characters and history of this country are something that Mr. Mitchell has written about with dignity, respect and a lot of love and adventure.
An action packed western with a half Comanche- half white bounty hunter searching for a killer. A little bit too much moralizing and romance, but overall a good, fast read.
