It’s early morning. You’re sitting at your desk - when you hear something. Sounds like a gunshot, but it couldn’t be that, could it? You hear it again, and then once more. Soon, an epic flood of screaming and panic takes over the office. Your co-worker – the quiet guy two cubicles down - is brutally gunning down the staff.
You tell yourself it isn’t real. You tell yourself a lot of things. But soon the gunman is before you – and you have a choice. You can either help him or suffer like the rest.
Because by now US has become more or less synonymous with gun violence, this novella is pretty timely and might have even been poignant with more thought and more heart to it. Pretty basic plot of a disturbed overweight man going armed and crazy on an office of coworkers. The element that makes the story really resonate wasn't quite there, but the writing was solid. The book never really got to be as good as its cover. It did pass the time adequately, something like half an hour, 40 minutes, just didn't really go beyond that. For a random kindle freebie that's decent enough. Sadly there are too many news stories out there, all of which stranger and scarier than any fiction. What a world.
Gunman by J. Clisham Gunman by J. Clisham is a novella about Henry who was determined to make a difference in the world. The storyline was compelling. Unfortunately it had a lot of grammatical errors, typos and homonyms. Because of that I gave it almost four stars.
I received a complimentary kindle copy from Amazon. That did not change my opinion for this review.
