"Blom" is about a man who has spent the last few months in prison for theft, and it follows him on the day of his release - wandering around town, getting a shave, going to get his photograph taken, taking a stroll through the forest and finally meeting an old acquaintance. Although the beauty in the language is still there, I found the story lacked spark except for the last paragraph or so that was not only atmospheric but intense and wonderful, reminds me a bit of Dorothy Parker's sort of wit. Minus points for the "serves her right" comment about domestic abuse. Great ending, lacklustre story.
