This novella serves as a stepping stone into the Soul Savers series as it enters a whole new era. You don’t need to have read the previous books to understand and enjoy this one. As matriarch of Earth’s Angels, Alexis Knight is charged with leading the world to recover and rebuild after being ravaged by human and supernatural wars. So far, the challenge hasn’t been too difficult as most of Earth’s inhabitants remain in underground bunkers. Alexis’s own community, The Loft, is in trouble. Their water source is drying up, so she and her elite team go to the surface to find a new one. But in a surprise attack by a new kind of legendary creature, Alexis loses her memory of who and what she is. While her team scrambles to find the antidote to the black magic affecting her mind, Alexis makes new plans of her own. Until her memory returns, though, her abilities as a leader are questioned, especially when an outside group arrives to initiate a coup against her and her team.

when I found out that the Soul Savers series (which is one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITES) had a new book coming out, I freaked the fuck out. AND GUESS WHAT? IT TURNS OUT THAT KRISTIE COOK IS EXTENDING THE SERIES BY AT LEAST ANOTHER 3 BOOKS!!!!!!
be still my beating heart.
this installment to the series introduces the world after the battle of Armageddon. it's basically building the world for the future books in the series (GAH, STILL CAN'T SAY THIS WITHOUT HAVING A MINI FREAK OUT). we caught up with our favourite characters - swoon @ Tristan, loveyouloveyouloveyou @ Owen - and get to see them back in action as they try to figure out a way of getting Alexis' memories back as well as trying to gauge exactly what type of creatures have been released from Hell.
I'm sorry this review is all over the place, I'm still on a high about the fact this series is being continued so I guess this is the best it's gonna get for right now.
READ THIS SERIES. IT'S PHENOMENAL. THIS INSTALLMENT WAS PHENOMENAL. EVERYTHING ABOUT THESE BOOKS - PHENOMENAL!!!!
Oh my gosh, where do I begin? For starters let me just say after reading Awakened Angel I realize I have I’ve fallen behind on my Soul Savers series. I started reading back in 2011 when I got my first Kindle and somewhere along the line, I drifted away but never forgot how much pleasure I got from reading about Alexis and Tristan. Really, I don’t know why I wandered because reading this novella brought back all the reasons why I fell in love with this series in the first place. I’ll get back to that in a sec.
The book starts out with Alexis waking up and not knowing who or what she is and who the people are around her. She doesn’t know if they are friend or foe, but she isn’t given any real choice and they take her back to their home. Everybody thinks her memory loss was caused by black magic and scramble to find an antidote. There she discovers who and what she is, that she’s a wife, mother and their leader…or at least that’s what they tell her she is. Because of her lack of memory, she is filled with doubts if she is truly the one they think she is. What I really enjoyed about the story is how her doubts of what she really was, matriarch of the Earth’s Angels, are presented. She has no memory and questions whether she really is a leader, something I’m sure she felt when she actually had her memories. Throw in a mini epic battle that ends just as you would expect it to with a HEA (For now!) and you have a kick ass story.
In its own unique way, I feel like Alexis. Having missed reading the last few books, I feel just as lost as she does. Some people I do remember but not how they are in the storyline now. I definitely have some catching up to do. I know the blurb states the previous books are not needed to understand what is going on and, up to a point, it’s true. If you’ve never read the series before, have no knowledge of Alexis and Tristan, the Amadis and Daemoni, all the excitement to be had, then yes you can jump in and read Awakened Angel not feeling like you are missing out. However, if you are like me, you’ll want to start from the beginning and devour each one of the books Kristie Cook has to offer. Now I’m off to fall in love with Alexis and Tristan all over again.
I received this book from the author for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine. Stars - 5, Flames - 2
This series has been one of my all time favorites from the beginning. I didn't think I could possibly love it more...I was wrong! Awakened Angel has me so excited for what comes next that I can hardly contain myself. It was fantastic!!!
This novella sees Alexis without a memory so she doesn't know what or who she is and it's all about dark magic. Great short story to follow the Soul Savers series which has been an incredible read from Book 1.
From the very first book until now, I've fallen in love with the characters , laughter and pride. Very much looking forward to reading more of their stories! Please take the time to read and follow them through their journey!
OMG omg omg I needed this wanted it But was gutted once I’d finished as I wanted it to never end I’d missed them all so much Can’t wait for age of angels
Awakened Angel is a novella in the Soul Savers series by Kristie Cook. It is an introduction into the new world of Soul Savers, after the old one was destroyed in the battle between good and evil. You definitely don't have to have read the other books in the series to understand this one.
In this story Alexis, the Matriarch of Earth's angels suffers from memory loss. Nobody knows what has caused it and despite trying everything they can think of, nothing is helping her to remember who she is. This couldn't have happened at a worse time because something or someone is poisoning their water supplies, supplies that are in desperate demand. A new enemy is brought to light as well, double trouble, all while Alexis is in no fit state to fight or to lead her people.
Her husband, Tristan is beside himself, he longs for the return of his wife's memory, not only because she is needed by her people, and the burgeoning new world, but he needs her too. He wants her to remember him, to remember her children. He wants and needs things back as they were before.
Will something be able to be done to help Alexis, if not, her people will suffer. They are losing faith in her, which she understands. She doesn't want to let them down and talks of stepping down as leader. It's impossible though and come hell or high water a cure must be found. The water supply must be reinstated before everybody dies of dehydration, and Alexis must continue monitoring the situation around the world, sending help when necessary as more and more survivors move above ground to try to make new lives for themselves.
Although as I said earlier, you can read this book as a stand alone one, I think you will get far more enjoyment from it if you read at least the first book in the series, if not all of them. It's been a long time since I read them, and I forgot just how good a writer Kristie Cook is. Even though Awakening Angel is a novella, it was an exciting read that made me want to read it in one go to find out what happens. There were a couple of very funny scenes, some worrying scenes, some sad scenes, and even a little romance thrown in for good measure. It certainly ticked all the boxes for me, so much so that I believe I will go back to the start of the series and re-read them all again.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
First of all the fact this book exists is an answer to prayer, because the Soul Savers series was set to be finished, BUT surprise to us fans it's now continuing! And of course author Kristie Cook starts this bridge into the next part of the series with a doozy of a story with this novella. I seriously can't wait for book 8 to be released and see what our favorite characters will do for the world.
Awakening amongst strangers calling her by name and talking to her with familiarity, Alexis can't recall who she is or what happened to her memory. Confused about herself but still able to recall skills and some abilities here and there, Alexis feels wholly out of place, especially when looked to as a the Angel's Army leader in the post-apocalyptic world. Then of course there is a certain man named Tristan that makes her react to him in a way she can't control, but still has no memory of. So when danger and sickness begins to fall upon the underground base Alexis has to decide to help fight or flee. And the biggest question remains will she ever retrieve her memory or push on without it?
Overall, great icebreaker into the next novels. This novella helps remind readers what happened last time, as well as explaining a bit of what's been going on in the meantime. Alexis has amnesia and it's heartbreaking to see her doubt herself, especially when she interacts with Tristan and her babies. Poor Tristan got a taste of single parenting this time around, yet handles like he's super hot dad. All that said, I loved how much stronger Alexis became after everything was resolved, because with the hint of what's to come for the group it looks like the rebuilding of the world will be hard work to say the least. So definitely grab the novella to tied you over as the next novel is sure to be great.
**I received a free copy in return for an honest review**
I have to say that I felt this was a perfect "in between" novella and platform for avid readers to start the series from this point on, without the pressure of trying to rush through the first seven. It's a genius move to be honest!
I felt my own feelings awaken as Alexis was pretty much forced to start over. Which means we started over with a quick run down of everything that has led up to this point, while also dealing with the current predicament the council and the Loft are facing. It gives you a glimpse of Kristie Cook's epic story telling style and the characters she has developed throughtout the series. I actually had butterflies again with the angst between Alexis and Tristan!!! I can't tell you how much I was fan girling with the subtle reminders of why we fell in love with this series...and Tristan *wink* (just keeping it real)
You will feel Alexis's torment, self doubt, and love for her people. The conflicting thoughts of her abilities before and after her memory loss are almost torture to read. My heart shattered at the rising tension between her and Tristan, but I had to believe that if anyone's love was strong enough to survive it was theirs.
Kristie has outdone herself once again! I loved the Soul Savers series and when I found out there would be more books, I may have done a little happy dance!
Awakened Angel is a novella which is basically a crash course of what's what, getting the reader up to date on how the world is now, what happened in the past, who is who etc. Ready for the next full length book in the series, but also with the added bonus of a storyline added to the mix!
I loved catching up with the characters again, although I have to admit I did want more Tristan and Alexis time *wink wink* haha!
The writing was great, the storyline interesting and the plot was well thought out, readying the reader for when the story kicks off a year from when this book is set.
I won't give anything away but I will say read it, something to refresh the readers memory as well as being treated to all of our favourite characters! <3
Awakened Angel is a novella and book 7.5 of the Soul Savers Series. This story is short but sweet and keeps your interest through to the end. I read it in about 2 hours and it was great to get an update on all the characters that I have come to enjoy in the Soul Savers Series.
It starts with the group after the world war has ended. I thought the beginning was a great way to remind the reader about what happened in book 7 and how the war affected the world. This book starts with Alexis losing her memory and then struggling to learn not only who she is…but everyone around her. How can you rule as the matriarch of Earth’s Angels if you can remember who you even are? The team works together to find an antidote and to figure out who is behind the coup against her with a happy ending.
This is a great mini book and a teaser into the next installment of the Soul Savers Series. A must read for all us Soul Savers followers!!
I do not know how, but the author and this series continue to surprise and impress. I pick them up and cannot put them down! I have read the series from the beginning multiple times and every time I fall more in love with the characters and the story lines. Kristie writes the story so well that when I stop it takes a minute to separate the story from reality. This book in particular is both unexpected and yet still fits perfectly into the series. perhaps the best part of the book is that it enhances the experience for those who have already read the series but also is written in a way that someone not familiar with the series could pick this up and follow the series going forward. The only bad thing about this book is the fact that we have to wait for the next one! Kristie, you have hit it out of the park again!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I'm not going to lie. This is, in some ways, quite a frustrating book. Alexis, who has, in other books, been kick ass, is a bit ... fragile in this book. And that detrimentally impacts all her relationships.
But,the author has cleverly worked this novella into a short, sharp shot in the arm of the Soul Savers series to usher in the new plotlines. And although I have read some of the previous books, I haven't read all of them. I didn't feel lost though, and whilst it is true that there are a number of questions raised within this story, I have every confidence that they will be answered in subsequent books. I'm also happy to report that although this is a novella, the story wasn't adversely impacted by its length.
Short, but very, very sweet.

Awakened Angel from Author Kristie Cook continues the captivating saga of the Earth Angels and their fight to lead humanity into a new era and a new story. This novella finds our ever embattled heroine Alexis with no memory of her past. Faced with an extremely upset but oh so good looking Greek God with wings, she is expected to lead her people when threatened with yet another crisis. Will she remember her soul mate, and her twin baby girls? Will her friends be able to help her until things start to make sense again? The clock is ticking and the team is racing to help Alexis save them all. This Novella is the perfect tie to the next chapter in the Amadis and Earth Angel quest to heal the world. I personally can’t wait to read more of their story and Kristie Cook continues to shine!!!
Now that the battle for Earth has been won.... It is now time to recover and rebuild the planet. Most of Earth's population is living underground.
Alexis and her team have been living in an underground bunker called The Loft. When water supply becomes an issue, Alexis and her team are on a mission to find a new water source. While on that mission, her team is attacked and Alexis wakes with no memory. Can her team find a way to get Alexis's memory back or does this spell the end for A.K.'s Angels?
This is a very good continuation to see how the characters will rebuild after all that destruction. Looking forward to see what happens next!
Whilst i enjoyed this book, having fallen in love with alexis and tristans story in the previous 7, i felt it didnt really have much substance to it. Generally im not a big fan of novellas so that could be influencing my view but i didnt think it was half as good as the others in the series. I read at the beginning though that the first full book in the age of angels series was due to be released a year ago so i will persist and download that next to see if a full story can change my mind. For now my belief is that their story was pretty much over bar a few loose ends
Once again, Kristie Cook has brought her readers an exceptional story. In this lead in to the new age, we find our heroine and her man in lots of trouble again. Doubts plague Alexis and Tristan is, once again, ripped apart from the woman he loves. This time is different in that Alexis is there and yet she isn't. This puts the couple at odds with each other and they must try to find a way back.
This is a great lead in to the Age of Angels series. A must read.
Tristan and Alexis have really captured my heart in this series. In this book, even through all the chaos, love holds strong for these two. With everyone working together and Alexis trying to remember who she is things come together and Alexis finds out who she truly is and who looks up to her. I can't wait to read more of this series. Kristie Cook really knows how to pull a person in and keep them there in her world.
Kristie...Kristie...Kristie...really? How do you keep having these amazing stories? You have outdone yourself again! I loved the twist on this story, and all honest, I was worried! It kept me wondering and hoping and keeping my faith that it will all turn out. AK's Angels sure have a long road ahead, but I know they will succeed! Thank you for the wonderful story and the hard work you put into each one of them.
I absolutely love Kristie Cook and the soul saver series but I felt this book of hers was short, and less fulfilling that all of her other books. I understand it was to be a bridge between two series' combined into one but it wasn't what I expected after such a long wait. I still can't wait for the next book to come out though, regardless of how this one was. Kristie Cook is my all time fav author!
How much I love this new part of the series. It's great to see that Alexis and Tristan are still fighting the good fight. Me heart went out to Tristan in this book with Alexis memory gone and having to cope with the beautiful twins plus helping to get a cure. It's also fabliss to here how everyone else is doing. Another great read can't wait for the next one. Kristie haves managed to leave me wait in impatiently for the next book.
Awakening Angel is a great introduction to the new world. Kristies writing pulls you in so that it is difficult to put this book down until you have finished, it is full of familiar characters and new friends/foes. I feel for Tristen as he tries to manage everything while Alexis is trying to come to terms with amnesia. The worries, frustrations and tensions are palpable, how will they hold everything together as the world starts to come alive again I can wait for the next book to find out
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I must say that Kristie has done it again! I absolutely loved the book, it was amazing to see the characters that I fell in love with in the Soul Savers series again and journey with them in their new adventures. I cannot wait to see what will happen next! Thanks again Kristie for such an amazing novel.
Loved this Novella. This book really brings you from the "Before" of the Soul Savers world to the new reality of the Age of Angels. Even for being short this tugs on the heart strings and makes you want to help. I cannot imagine being in Alexis' position.
This was awesome and I am so excited for this is going to lead the series! Highly highly recommend.
I received this book as an advanced copy for an honest review. Once again Kristie Cook has delivered a fantastic read. I have been following the soul savers series since the beginning and was eagerly anticipating this one. Brilliantly written but I didn't expect anything less from one of my favourite authors.
This novella was a great catch up with the crew from Soul Savers! It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was happening with Alexis! Tristan as always was his swoon worthy self. Kristie does an amazing job of keeping me drawn into her world every story and this was no different. Can't wait for the next one!
Absolutely loved it. Kristie is such a wonderful writer. I loved all of her books so far and they just keep getting better and better. This is a great start to the new world. It was so easy to jump back in where they left off. Alexis & Tristan are so good together. I love the way he loves her. I like that new species are being introduced into the series. I can't wait for the next book.
The perfect dose of my FAvorite Characters...I can not wait for more ..Kristie Cook is Amazing as usual and the next generation of Angels sigh are gonna rock. I purposely took my sweet time reading this. How ever ..I can tell you all this Series is life changing must read ..I adore you Kristie Cook
I have always been a fan of Kristies work and her work so far has certainly been a pleasure to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I loved the idea of this story where Alexis loses her memory and she has to fight to get it back. The whole gang back together fighting enemies :-) Can't wait for Age of Angels to finally be released.
i received this book as ARC. and it was well worth the read, it ties the old with the new very well and as an individual it is up there with the rest, it keeps you enthralled and waiting for the next episode in the Alex and Tristan story as well as the Army of Angels.
