Aer-ki Jyr is one of the top 20 science fiction authors on Amazon due to his extremely long and ongoing space opera epic STAR FORCE, one of the longest military science fiction series ever written.
As this is a four-book series, each book got progressively better with number four upping my rating
The first book from this collection I felt was a little boring, didn't really go anywhere, and it also felt like the author found a new interest in League of Legends. Kind of weird to make a reference to an 800-year-old game, especially a strategic reference. Hard to believe there's not something better than League after 800 years. Books 2 and 3 were better and more interesting, with a great deal of backstory and clarification as far as some of the characters and clans. Definitely a lot of info to add to the wiki. The fourth book, trials, started the little slow but the end of it was absolutely mind-blowing. I was originally aiming for three maybe four stars, but with how book four was executed, I had to give it five stars. I was left with such a glowing impression, and a desire to see what's next, that it could only be five stars, Even if there was another League of Legends reference.
Good. Really damn good, considering how sick I was of standard ass combat. Let's just jump straight to the end huh? FUCKING ARCHON-LEVEL CHALLENGES! Seeing the original 100 go up against challenges that are up to their current ability level is fantastic, plus seeing all of the experimental tech Davis and WIlson whip out to try and craft something truly challenging for them. Really amazing stuff. I'm also super stoked about Davis having the balls to become an Archon. What else? This entire empire restructuring thing, very exciting. I'm especially excited for the clan differentiation, as this means that individual novels may have greater variety if they ride side saddle one clan at a time, and because it increases the amount of variability available through clan interactions. This is about to get a hell of a lot more interesting.
This was a bit of a slip back to the beginning books format but still fun and exciting! I prefer more of the battles and empire building but it was still very good.
With hundreds of good guys, some of them naked, there is going to be a lot of story in this story. If a review doesn't make any sense, it's randomly chosen words from the top bar.
Are-ki Jyr just keeps life interesting as we try to keep abreast of the Star Force continued growth. Read on and continued to be amazed and blown away with the future that awaits.
In this installment, the trailblazers are all back together again and must get through their hardest training challenge to date. The whole society is about to be reorganized.
I like the series, but this guy REALLY needs an editor. And just as I started the next book, he unveils his homophobia. Such a stupid thing to imagine that 800 years from now that anyone would think that sexual orientation would even be a blip on the radar, but this hack lumps gays with addicts and other human detrius. So disappointing What a let down.
