King of Vijayanagara , Vira Narsimha , was very hill.He was afraid that after his death, his much loved and popular brother Krishnadeva Raya would seize the throne from his little son. So he asked trusted minister to put the krishnadeva to death. The Conscience-stricken minister couldnt perform such a henious deed and convinced the bewildered prince to escape .Fate had already decreed that Krishnadeva Raya would one day rule the Vijaynagara empire and take it to its zenith of glory.
5 star for the story but many things about Krishnadeva Raya and what he did is alarming, maybe he did it because of patriotism. I wonder if society would have hailed if a woman did the same? How he maintained good friendship with the portuguese could have been elaborated since history has always painted animosity between Europeans and Indians pre-colization.
In some way, I think India falling under British rule was "karma" for the Indian kings being petty, vain and brutal. Definitely a good read, made me wonder about a lot of things.
