The Synchronicity War Omnibus: scifi action and adventure

Rate this book
This Omnibus edition includes all 4 parts of the Synchronicity War series in one ebook with over 300,000 words of military sci fi action by a USA Today bestselling author. This ebook can be read via Kindle Unlimited and other KU books can be found on my website (dwehrsfwriter dot com). The individual books in this series have accumulated a total of over 1,800 5-star reviews. Heroic and not so heroic men and women plus their loyal Artificially Intelligent allies fight and die to prevent humanity's extermination at the hands of a shockingly xenophobic alien race. But is there something more going on here than just an irrational alien race lashing out without provocation? One man's uncontrollable, precognitive visions lead him to believe that humans and the xenophobic aliens are just pawns in a much larger conflict and the real stakes are nothing less than the future of all life in the galaxy. If he can use his visions to keep humanity alive long enough, he may be able to figure out the mystery before it's too late. This Omnibus edition also includes sample chapters of the Synchronicity War universe stand-alone novel The Retro War. All 4 parts of this series are also available as audiobooks from Audible.com. Genre Space fleet, galactic empire, space opera, alien invasion, first contact, time travel

Galactic do-overs, a good cast and reasonably well written.
I usually prefer my sci-fi more hard core but still found myself enjoying this fast paced futuristic 3 way battle in the stars. One of the most enjoyable things was the portrayal of AIs as loyal, good and noble, rather than the normal dispassionate/rogue/evil spin presented by most authors.

There's plenty of scope lest to flesh out more stories in this universe and I think I'll be following those up as the author writes them.

Dietmar, thank you for an interesting take on humans first contact.

Overall, this Kindle eBook is great. I like the realistic characters, the dialogue, the descriptions, the pace, most of the plot, most of Victor Shiloh’s visions, and the loyal Ais that flew fighters in the Space Force in this series. I like that the author typed Vice Admiral Shiloh’s thoughts, Kelly’s thoughts, Ms. Johansen’s thoughts, and Admiral Howard’s thoughts in Part Two in this Kindle eBook. I don’t like that three of the sentences in Part One in this Kindle eBook bundle aren’t grammatically correct. One of the sentences in Chapter Five in part two in this Kindle eBook in this trilogy isn’t grammatically correct. The author misspelled the word accidental in chapter eleven in part two in this Kindle eBook ebundle. The author misspelled the word surprised in one of the chapters in the second part in this Kindle eBook. The author misspelled the word wave in two sentences in part three in this Kindle eBook. The author misspelled the word of in Part Three in this Kindle eBook. The author misspelled the word damned in one of the chapters in part three in this Kindle eBook. The author misspelled the word waved in one of the sentences in part three in this Kindle eBook. Admiral Shiloh said one of the people that he knew that served in the Space Force is “chomping at the bit” wasn’t realistic because he was American. Admiral Shiloh needed to be more specific than “wait one.” The author misspelled the word discreet in Chapter One in Part Four in this Kindle eBook. Two of the sentences in Chapter Twelve in Part Four of this Kindle eBook aren’t grammatically correct. One of the sentences in Chapter Fourteen in Part Four of this Kindle eBook isn’t grammatically correct. The author misspelled two of the sentences in Chapter Twenty-Two and one of the sentences in Chapter Twenty-Four in Part Four in this Kindle eBook. I rate this Kindle eBook bundle four out of five stars.

First rate space opera

This kept me on my toes most of the time. The mechanics of space warfare are unusually well thought out and the alternate time frames are unusually complex and convincing. Any fan of space opera should find it engrossing and difficult to put down.

Highly complex space and time war.

Great logistical basis. Complex fleet composition. Characters a little limited. This is essentially the same war fought thru four iterations until it's won. I will attempt to read it a year from now, to make certain I got the stories straight.

No understanding of humans in general,.

The author has no understanding of humans in general or of people in the military. Also a total lack of military technology.

Very poor character development.
Several plot items happened that characters just shrug and accept , totally unbelievable.

Excellent Story

One of the best self published books I have read. Only minor typos etc. As far as content, if you enjoy military sf by David Weber you will like this one.

Really enjoyed this book I couldn't put it down but had to stop at times. The characters were real and in depth. I am looking forward to more of his books.

A long but interest read

Space travel, space wars and time travel weaved into an interesting tale. The story moved quickly while waiting for the next twist or turn.

One of the best sci-fi I have read in some time. Written for serious readers that also want realistic science. I would have to lay this up with a classic such as Dune.

Leaden, Lifeless, Boring, Marathon of Temporal Drivel

"The Synchronicity War Omnibus," which includes all four (4) eBooks of the series, is a poorly constructed, lifeless, boring, and barely readable morass of a time traveling themed space saga.

Basic storyline: Near future humanity is across multiple star systems, with a low level, space force. An allegedly "pacifist" advanced alien race, via "visions," warns of an impending attack on humanity by another race, bent on humanity's genocide. Earth's defenders "gear up," using AI's, and begin a series of losing battles of attrition. Every time humanity is at the brink of extinction, the timeline is changed by temporal messages and reset. It begins anew, with minor changes, perhaps bringing success. The attacking aliens were in fact manipulated by the "pacifists" aliens to attack humans, in order to force humanity to become militarily effective by circumstance, and protect another non-violent alien race, doomed by yet another genocidal alien race.

Using time travel, temporal messaging, et al, is a poor device for any author to carry a storyline. It allows a reset after an author stumbles into a dead end alley, plot trap, or an insurmountable obstacle in writing. There is no cleverness or ingenuity-it is a lazy escape mannerism.

This author has to explain after each part of his eBook in essays following. If you have to "explain," you DID NOT tell the story. He is enamored of fringe and alternative science. The type that espouses that Nazis created time travel, had a secret Antarctic base, etc. He also is creepily eschatological, voyeuristically obsessing on "...shit...," and human sexuality throughout, via the AI characters. It is almost a fetish of the author, given its frequency and needless usage. He also writes awkwardly, without any natural flow. His most human characters are AI's, while all others, including humans, are one dimensional shadows. The narratives read more like a numerical spreadsheet, than a SciFi novel. Plot lines disappear without resolution or reason. Even a really adept editor would face a daunting task in making anything out of this 300,000 plus word lead weight. If you eliminate the time travel nonsense, focus on the AI's, then maybe, just maybe, you might get a decent, entertaining eBook. As it stands, the entire "Omnibus," is an unmitigated disaster.

This is an eBook that was completely read (shame on me!) via Kindle Unlimited. It is NOT recommended.

Watch as the plot spins out of control.

Wehr simply tries to do too much. His time travel ideas are not easy to follow because they often occur without warning, garbling the plot in the understanding of the reader. It is also difficult
to swallow his characters' military relationships to their superiors. The characters themselves are decently fleshed put and are sympathetic in the eyes of the reader. He takes the idea of thought communication over time between a human and machines much too far, while he gives insectoid creatures who have no prior contact with humans an ability to create a bio weapon which has no symptoms and cannot be cured to eliminate life on earth. The plot spins out of control and the reader is left on the dust of its failure.

Just finished reading Synchronicity War Omnibus and loved it once I got started I couldn't put it down. It is a great read both as a sci-fi and space opera and if you like both this is a must have.
