The Prince
Prince Xalikian Kazharan has a dilemma on his hands. Now that the Kordolians have landed on Earth, he somehow has to convince an entire planet of Humans that his people mean them no harm. Perhaps this stubborn female journalist called Sera Aquinas, who thinks she can just walk up to his front door and ask for an interview, might be able to help him.

Sera Aquinas doesn't trust the charming amber-eyed Prince when he says he doesn't want to take over her planet. As a hardened journalist, she's seen her share of duplicity and corruption. So when Xal tells her the Kordolians are looking for Human females, she thinks he's messing with her. Seriously? Who would believe that lame excuse?
She has to admit however, that Xal is one fine looking alien, and a part of her is curious.
It's absolutely far fetched, but what if he's telling the truth?
What if Humans and Kordolians are compatible?
And when it comes to Xal, why does her body keep betraying her when her head is telling her to get the hell out of there?
Warning: this book contains swearing, violence, sensual sex scenes, silver aliens with fangs and a little dose of insta-lust. If you're sensitive to any of these things, you may want to think twice before reading it. It's definitely recommended for readers aged 18 and over.
Dark Planet Falling is Book Two in the Dark Planet Warriors Series. It will probably make more sense if you've read the other three books first, although that's probably not absolutely essential.

Not really interested in Prince Xalikian Kazharan and Sera Aquinas. They bored me, and I got the huuuuuuge feeling of insta-love. Insta-lust I can work with, insta-love however, is a big no. So, eh, I ended up skimming it. A lot. Mostly just slowed down when Tarak or/and Abbey was mentioned.

The heroine: Sera Aquinas - a reporter who thinks it is a bit too coincidental that the mining station Fortuna Tau was recently evacuated and blew up right before the Xargek came to Earth and started wreaking havoc. Especially when the Kordolian troops where the only ones able to kill the Xargek, and now the Kordolians want to make Earth their home.
The Hero: Prince Xalikian Kazharan (a.k.a. Xal) - he has to convince the people of Earth to let his people live there. His people are dying out because of the lack of Kordolian females and births. Also he, the General and their forces can help the people of Earth to defend against any species that threatens Earth, including the Xargek who have already arrived on Earth.
The Story: Sera wants to interview the Kordolians to try to figure out what their long term plans are. She has her doubts that the race known for making war and subjugating worlds doesn’t have the same plans for Earth, but if they did, why haven’t they done it yet. Why are they taking up residence in a tree lined suburb of the diplomatic zone?
Not only is Sera a journalist and the daughter of a senator, but she also happens to be a former underground cage fighter. Go Figure! It helps her when she boards Xal’s Alien ship to report on the war against his mother’s forces who have come to Earth bent on destruction. Despite the unrealistic nature of some situations, the story is pretty good. There is romance, plenty of steam and an evil empire after our Hero.
The story was told in dual POV but with only one narrator, so that takes a point off the narration. Luckily Jillian Macie does a great job. She has many different voices for the different characters and her male voice isn’t too bad. She is a good reader and I like her soft voice and different inflections for Sera. This book was better than the first in the series. I liked where the story went and I’m invested in the fate of the Kordolians.

The second I found out that Sera was a reporter....that did it for me...I loathe the media.... they are like the worse excuses of humans.... don't care how they get their story.... I hated her from the first. Xal deserved a better woman...
I am so disappointed. I didn't buy their love story.... she was a hard, nasty person...didn't care what she was hiding underneath. I don't care for this type of heroine at all...but to each their own. I am sure there are hundreds who just loved her.
The Prince...I loved..... he should have had someone very special to love him after all he had been through....
But hey... I didn't write the story... I just didn't like it the way it was written... and honestly... I didn't care enough to finish it. Which is a shame cause I ate up the previous books....
Don't know if I will finish this series now... it turned very sour for me.

This one was not as good as the first. I just did not like Xal and Sera as much. Their physical connection was strong but Xal held back emotionally. Sera was brave but for some reason I just did not connect to her.
This had all the elements to be a 4 star, but it just did not get there for me.
But I am interested in the next book since it is about the first couple!

really enjoyed this installment in the Dark planet warriors series Xal and Sera were character's I found it easy to connect with, I am so looking forward to the next book.

I actually liked this book more than the first one, BUT it's still got alot of work to do with respect with the romance. The worldbuilding is what's keeping me on the hook and frankly you can see it's what the author is passionate about. I really liked the pictures she paints of these aliens and the world in general, but I wished that kind of attention to detail was spent on the romance.
Xal and Sera's characters are a bit more developed, but it's still kind of late in the game to really matter, and the transition to love is still off.
I've already started the next book 3 in the series, because I just want to know what happened to Fortuna Tau....and then I saw that there's actually a reading order to the books that is completely different from the order they're listed on AMZ and GR? Which, for the record, is Books 1, 4, 5, 7, 2, 3, 4.5, 6, 8.
Sigh.

A solid 2.5 stars.
This was not my favourite of the series so far, probably because I am not a huge fan of sexually aggressive, cage-fighting heroines! But that may not be the case for you!
I found the hero, Xal, actually quite sweet for a Kordolian alien, definitely softer than Tarak (the General from book 1) In a way, Sera was the alpha in this one, and it's certainly great that we have a bit of variety in the style of heroine. It was also an interesting setting, where we find ourselves on earth (even though it is an artificial island in the middle of the Pacific) instead of on a mining space station or space battleship.
In the end, I missed the sexual tension that was evident in books 1 and 7, where things took a while to heat up and the resolution was all the more satisfying. AC did a good job exploring the intricacies of diplomacy and the writing was actually very good. This lady has a good turn of phrase!
Lots of action, interesting characterisation, great world-building and solid story-line, but- am I being shallow here?-less gripping in the romance area for me.

Strong second book in the series. I wasn't quite as enamored with the H/h as in book one. Kudos to author for saving a big reveal about the Prince's past until the 60% mark! Strong heroine and she gets involved without TSTL moments. Bravery and selflessness continue as themes. I will look for new books by this author.

Xal the scary dark prince with a sense of humour and Sera the ass kicking human.
I had a hard time getting into this for the first 15% because I hate heroines who are journalists and her first 'interview' of Xal was the worst kind of 'national enquirer' type crap. Fortunately the author forces them together again and she reveals in layers what makes Sera tick. I still think she is a lousy journalist, but maybe she will be a better 'Queen'.
Xal and the General are on Earth and hoping to reach an understanding, when another Kordolian ship appears. Of course this is from the Empress. But how did they get here? Or better yet, how did they get here so fast? The Empress and her minions are everything the rest of the Galaxy has come to fear from Kordolians. Yet they match or even better Xal and General's ship in firepower. How can they save Earth and themselves? It takes daring, cunning, and an understanding of Kordolian politics to save Earth. So even though I was slow to get into this one, it was a fantastic ride and I look forward to the next book!
Although I still wouldn't call this sci-fi, it is more thought out than most of the Alien romances...

I have to admit, I wasn't a big fan of the first book in this series but then I skipped around and read some of the later books in it and I adored them. because of this I decided to go back and read the others. unfortunately I didn't care much for book 2 either. It wasn't bad, but I never really felt a connection to the storyline of the characters in this installment. I will still read other books in this series because some have been great even though I found this book to be unimpressive.

Finding this series is like finding a box of bon bons. Fun!
There is a ton of action and hero and heroine I really like. They treat each other well and the sexy times are on an equal footing and smoking hot.
I think this book is more pleasurable if you get to know the Prince in the first book of the series but it is good on its own.

I didn't like this as much, mostly because I thought the FMC was a self-righteous, self-absorbed asshole. I mean ... in the opening when she barged her way into their house, then left abruptly and decided that because the reporters outside recorded her going into the house anything she said would be considered truth... and so therefore she was going to make up what she wanted for her article, yeah, I loathed her.
Maybe it's a symptom of the current state of the world, but I think "journalists" who make shit up to get more attention and whip up a frenzy - something that Sera deliberately did, and was unapologetic about - are the worst kind of human trash.
Not interested in her or her story, honestly. She got better after that, when she was on their ship, but that left such a bad taste in my mouth that she remained trash in my mind. And hearing her bitch about how corrupt people in charge are made me want to throat-punch her, when she's just as bad but also a gross hypocrite about it.
Bleh.

The story of warrior Xal and journalist Sera. I didn't like the beginning of this story. I thought Sera was a bit of a trashy journalist and lost her professional edge almost instantly. I also thought it pretty unbelievable that she would be the only journalist to try knocking on the door of the aliens.
But I did like that she was strong. I wish her fighting history could have come to the fore a bit more even. I liked her scars and her tattoos and how to Xal they were marks of pride.
I agree with other reviewers though. The first book was better. I think I might read some of the others but probably not in sequence. I will pick out the ones I like the sound of.

I should have automatically passed on this as soon as I saw the h was a reporter. There is nothing I HATE more than the intrepid reporter storyline. Alas, I read it so I could have the background on the next book. Other people will like this, but stupid stupid reporter stories make me homicidal.

Sera is an excellent journalist and she's determined to find out why Kordolians are on Earth. Her bold efforts bring her into contact with Xal, the estranged prince, and the sparks start to fly.
Action packed and very steamy. I loved that Xal kept his horns.

Dark Planet Falling by Anna Carven was another delightful story in the Dark Planet Warriors. Each book gets better than the last, and there is some delightful banter that goes on amongst the action and sexiness.
Humans find their lives turned upside, when the big bad Kordolians come to Earth to keep them safe. But it is only their Human mates that have stopped them from invading Earth. However, they make it clear that this is the case, and they have no other choice. There are a few corporations who think they are bigger and better, and soon learn this is not the case. Threaten their mates, and all bets are off. Sexy. large with silver skin, pointy-ears hotty warriors that almost make you want to pee your pants.
What ensues is mayhem, chaos, action, sexy, sizzling, tension, and much more. If you like sci-fi romance, then look no further.

Well I am the odd one out here. I barely finished. Only because I intended to read book 3 did I bother. (and that is only because we get Terak back in that one)
The Kordolian prince was interesting enough but Sera was so annoying I just could not care about her at all. The story and writing were both dull. There was more sex in this that any book other than porn needs. It felt like bits of a story idea wrapped around sex scenes. That just does not do it for me. And there were the same editing issues as the first book.

I mostly don't like journalists in books as heroine. And this was no different.
The pace seemed off. Like insta-attraction with no real characters, no real build-up.
There was a lot more sex than in the first installment.
And a lot less charm.

He was threatening the humans, he was just doing it in a civilized manner.
Did most of my love for this book stem from the fact that Xalikian heavily reminded me of my angsty problem son Lotor?? Yes, absolutely. One thing this series does right is the world-aesthetics that really gives a rich feel to it for me. Now, being that I'm writing this while currently reading #6, I realize that this author would do better if the smut scenes weren't so . . . journalistic? cause after reading a bunch of good action (fighting) scenes, fun dialogue, fascinating world-info bits . . . to suddenly the tone change when things get hot and heavy?? It feels too abrupt and reads awkwardly rather than steamy, as it's supposed to be???? And, again up to #6, this has yet to change . . .

It's a little more expansive than the other alien romances I've read , has a great cast and the author writes fairly well, and again THE WORLD Y'ALL which makes sense why there's a bunch of spin-offs I will obviously read as well.

A journalist heroine that didn’t annoy the shit out of me? It’s a miracle. Smart, takes action, isn’t delusional about her own importance, hates her political focused parents, secretly trained as a cage fighter and is not afraid to knee an alien in the balls and hog tie him.
Bonus points for rebel Alien Prince meeting all my expectations. He’s pretty, he’s intense, diplomatic, fascinated by Earth, aaaalll about consent, and thinks the heroine is the best thing since oxygen. Protective of her, but also willing to let her play the part of his slave to infiltrate the enemy ship and blow shit up.

I really liked Xal in the first book and I was glad to learn more about him here. He had his reasons for trying to overthrow his mother, and my heart broke for him. It was interesting watching him navigate Earth politics.
I didn't really like Sera at first. She wants to find out what the Kordolians are really doing on Earth, and I get that, but the "creative license" she took with her story wasn't very well done. I liked her more as the story went on.
The romance was sweet. I really liked how Xal treated Sera. He was overprotective, but also respectful of her and her skills. I'm glad I powered through the first book. This is shaping up to be a great series.
I didn't really like Sera at first. She wants to find out what the Kordolians are really doing on Earth, and I get that, but the "creative license" she took with her story wasn't very well done. I liked her more as the story went on.
The romance was sweet. I really liked how Xal treated Sera. He was overprotective, but also respectful of her and her skills. I'm glad I powered through the first book. This is shaping up to be a great series.

4 Kordolian Stars
I really like this series. I think the story line is extremely interesting as well as the plot of this universe. It's action packed as well as a sexy read to boot.
Now that the Kordolian's are calling Earth home I'm interested to see what happens next with the Prince, the General and their human mates. I sure hope someone kills the Empress, because she needs killing.
My only complain in this whole book was the grammatical errors, but it's worth reading.

Not nearly as interesting as the first
I tried to get thru this one because I enjoyed the couple so much from book one. But I couldn’t really connect with the heroine in this one especially since she is just a journalist from earth. And her “scoop” by snooping just ticked me so off midway thru I just couldn’t even continue reading to get thru the “misunderstanding “ I saw coming.

I have NO idea why the author didn't develop some relationship between Abbey and the heroine, it made no sense not to share information, the plot device that journo Sera was meant to observe and report on the aliens to humans meant sat very least interviewing a human currently mated to General Tarek made sense.
