Mmmm, el manga me gusta más al final que al comienzo. El romance cambia completamente de una página a otra, es demasiado instantáneo. Al final, cuando la trama se va complicando es cuando los personajes verdaderamente explotan su drama potencial. El arte es exquisito. El yaoi siempre será mi debilidad...

And there was. I had only read the first volume. The second was just as touching Quite an impressive story for both characters, with complex relationships and real interactions.

A love story between two men working at the same company - and one of them is the youngest son of the company's boss and of course he has to marry "politically". Lots of angst and sex to be found here, but the manga suffers from the fact that the first chapter was supposed to be a one shot, and I honestly had trouble believing in the characters' feelings.
Still, bonus points for the "previously straight" seme mentioning that since he fell for the "always gay" uke he isn't exactly straight anymore. Also, the reason the seme breaks up with his fiancée was... unusual. I don't think I've ever come across it before, and even though I hate its implications, it's rare to come across something in BL that I haven't seen before, so there's that.

Asou Mitsuaki sensei’s first publication with Gush Comics, the first chapter was a one shot as part of 年下攻 younger seme collection. Since this is an earlier work and is out of print, it took me a while to find a second hand copy, I’m not happy about the book’s condition but I love this story so much…
The seme 須藤章成 (28) is the group Executive’s younger son working under uke’s Asia Strategy team on a large project, he has a straight forward personality and stands up for his beliefs. The uke 真木唯行 (32) is low key and well rounded, known to be gay, he’s tasked by the seme’s dad to manage him and secretly check his personal life (girlfriend status).
One day the seme was in a taxi driving pass Shinjuku Nichome, he saw the uke in a flashy suit making out with some guy. The seme was intrigued and asked if the uke would want to sleep with him, the uke brushed it off saying it will just add to the many rumors floating around in the office. The uke won’t sleep with coworkers because he’s a coward and doesn’t want to take risk.
The seme told the uke that he doesn’t have a girlfriend at the moment, which the uke later reported to the Executive, as the dad wanted the seme to get married once this project is on track, will also transfer him to the mother company for more responsibilities.
The uke told the seme that he just sleep with anyone when he’s lonely. The uke would dress up in different costumes whenever he goes to Nichome to hunt for men. The seme’s been caught in Nichome and his photo’s been circulating by company email, he went there to look for uke but couldn’t find him. The seme couldn’t stop thinking about the uke so the two men started a physical relationship.
The uke doesn’t acknowledge or deny the rumors of him being gay, because he wants the others to make the choice to either approach him or keep distance from him. He wants to keep important things to himself, so he’s never confessed to or dated anyone. So this is the first time that uke sleeps with someone he likes, he really hopes that seme’s curiosity can last longer.
The seme asked a female colleague some questions about relationship and then an email circulated around that seme is a player. The seme’s parents got angry and called him home, convincing him to go to arranged marriage with daughter from powerful family, as a way to help grow and strengthen the family business.
The HR movement have been announced and the two men met up to discuss, the uke suggested to end their relationship as the seme’s dad probably has noticed. When the seme came out of shower he saw that uke’s been crying so he decided to maintain this relationship for as long as they can hide.
The seme took uke out on a date and the uke is all wrapped up, with hat, scarf and sunglasses. To avoid being seen by people, they went to watch a movie. The uke thinks that seme is not gay and just playing along with him. The seme noticed that they are on different frequency and his message is not getting through to the uke.
The Executive called uke out for a chat and told him that seme will be moving to mother company’s strategy department, also thanked the uke for teaching the seme to be more mature and calm. The Executive is not happy about the grandpa not fulfilling his potential because he married childhood sweetheart instead of a powerful family’s daughter. The dad doesn’t want the seme to be unfortunate like the grandpa…
The uke got very shaken and came over to the seme’s home, the Executive asked uke to convince seme to go for arranged marriage with a lady from strong political background. The seme asked if uke’s willing to handle the pressure and date him seriously, it’s no longer just curiosity. The seme called a taxi for uke and said they can go for a ride the next time they go on date.
The uke’s head is in a whirlwind and his life became a mess, going to work late and making lots of mistakes. He overheard the female colleagues gossiping about the seme’s family power and his future potential, as well as he’s a player and might be gay… An email is being circulated about the seme starting to date the politician’s daughter and they are planning to get married. The Executive denied spreading the rumors and told the seme to ask uke where’s the source of info…
The uke called the seme and said he had crush on the seme since the welcome party, when the seme expressed his career ambition. He also appreciated that seme stood up for him in front of gossiping colleagues and hugged his shoulder. The uke pushed seme away because he wanted the best future for the seme which comes with power and status.
A few months passed and the uke’s picked up his spirits to continue with regular life. The seme went to discuss marriage with the politician’s daughter and the rumors been circulated in email. The uke got really sad and went to gay bar after a long time, he remembered his senpai back in high school who got into trouble because he came out publicly, back then the uke didn’t take any side and just watched from afar.
After getting picked up by a guy, the uke couldn’t stand having sex with other man and ran off. He didn’t want the memories of the seme to be covered and the touches to be mixed up. He can no longer just let anyone fill his loneliness so he ran over to the seme’s flat, but saw the seme holding a girl’s hands and she had a diamond ring… The uke regretted not accepting the seme’s offer to start dating and broke down into tears in the subway.
Another round of emails are being circulated that the politician’s daughter cancelled the arranged marriage and the seme’s so devastated that he hasn’t been coming to work. The uke rushed over to the seme’s department and got told off by his boss, he then tried calling the seme and the Executive but couldn’t reach them.
The uke got really worried and climbed up the mountain (from high school photo) where the seme would always go when he’s frustrated. He thought the seme was going to jump off the cliff so he rushed over to stop him, but he’s just picking up the cigarette package. The seme told uke that doctor said he cannot have kids because of low sperm count due to the fever he had as a kid and also from smoking, so the politician’s daughter cancelled the arranged marriage because she’s the only child and is under pressure to have offspring.
It started raining and the uke bursted into tears, the seme said he put the uke in a difficult position back then by pushing the decision all to him. The uke told the seme that he gave up previously because it’s the easier way out, but now he wants to be with seme and asks for another chance. The seme formally confessed to the uke and they went back to the hotel…
The uke always used nickname and dresses up when he go to gay bar, he also doesn’t let guys do him from behind because he wants to ensure safe sex. The uke finally found peace and happiness knowing that he’s having sex with the seme and not some strange men. Whereas the seme found hope and future from the uke, being his ray of light during his darkest time.
The seme came out to his dad and said he’s dating the uke and they will be together forever. He’s always said he will pick his own partner and he’s no longer bothered by uncertainties from an unconventional relationship as the uke is very important to him.
The two men bought a car together, the seme put the key ring on the uke’s finger, they turned on the engineer power together. They will continue to cherish each other, slowly build up their lives and have more shared belongings in the future.

This manga broke me down and had me crying like an idiot at 3 am. That end note by the mangaka about how this started as a fun adventures about a couple? Yeah that was a fucking lie! This manga toyed with my emotions and had me feeling things I didn't know I could feel. I was so sure this was going end in tragedy!! 😭😭 The story is beautiful, that cover and synopsis are a lie, and I'm probably never going to recover. Brb, going through this mangaka's entire translated catalogue, bye.

October 11, 2021Initially I thought that the pace was too quick, but that seemed to just be at the beginning. In the end, I think that the story was absolutely wonderful. It’s been awhile since I’ve been so just completely into the couple. They start out as just sex partners; one had already had feelings and the other begins to develop them. And the things that they go through… and then it’s just over. And I’m like, wait, how can this be? And things are going on in their respective lives and it’s just so… How in the world are they going to get back together? Because you just assume that is just what’s going to happen–they have to get back together. But it isn’t looking like it, but when they do, how it happens…is just so…it’s so good. I really, really, really, really appreciated every little detail about the story, the choices that Asou made for the characters, how the story progressed, which devices she used to move the story along–all of it. It was just great. I really, really love this story and I really, really love the couple.

September 20, 2024So many positive reviews 😳 Not that I found this bad. But the pacing seemed off. And the alternating povs lackluster. It didn't add tension or anything. I ended up skimming the rest after chapter two. 🤷🏼♀️
