Jill Walker isn't interested in going on a road trip to the middle of nowhere, especially not with Mark Jackson, the weirdest missionary she's ever met. Her loyalty to her friends and her church, however, compels her to pack her bags, head out west, and help him adjust back to US culture. Along the way, he helps her to confront her past, deal with her present reality, and consider a very different future. Can God's best be within Jill's reach if she's just willing to take a chance and trust that His grace is enough?

When I realized who Jill was - the overtly flirty co-worker to Jacob Morales in Anywhere...I was like oh boy here we go! Especially how she interacted with Pastor Stephen. But the Lord got a hold of her heart and she became a new creation in Christ. Then, several years later she met Mark Jackson, whom we met in From Here On Out. Will Mark be able to look past all of Jill's previous sins, as horrible as they were?
Two things I didn't like or appreciate in the story. Mark...as on fire as he is for Jesus and trying his all to show other Christ...why is he made out to be such an idiot or as he's called here "a freak show". I can't imagine a missionary acting like he did in the first part of this book. But looking past all that inane silliness, I loved his character. His warmth, selflessness and his love of others touched my heart. The other thing is what another reviewer mentioned. The slam of Fox News viewers. That was uncalled for and very offensive.
But regardless, I loved this story and am looking forward to the next in the series.
I think this might be my favorite of Jenn Faulk's books so far. It was different from others I've read, having only the heroine's POV--which switched to first-person at the end! This POV choice added to the reader's suspense and made the hero (who is both weird and amazing) more mysterious. I love these books for their emphasis on God's grace and the great depictions of what "true love" should look like in many different forms.
I do recommend reading the author's books in the order they were written for greater appreciation of the side characters!
Warning: This books starts out looking shocking, but trust me, it isn't!
Having "met" both main characters in earlier Jenn Faulk books, I enjoyed reading their story. Faulk does a good job illustrating Biblical truths through life stories of her characters.
This was another great story by Jenn Faulk! I wasn't ready for it to end. Jill and Mark were such interesting and entertaining characters that I wanted to see how the rest of their story played out. I enjoyed Mark's appearance in The Plan and was happy to see him get his own story. Stepping out in faith is so hard - whether it's in relationships or following where you believe God is leading you. Faulk has a gift for explaining God's love and grace using believable characters and believable life experiences.
I absolutely loved this book! It was such a sweet and fun book to read. It made me smile. This is definitely a feel good book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope she will continue with another book featuring Bradley and Lisa. I think they need a romance too. I also enjoyed the introduction this book had at the end for her upcoming book. I
