Shadow Weaver: The Unbreaking

Rate this book
The Unbreaking. Terrible devastation caused by the continents colliding saw the birth of a new age. An age of health, where all diseases cease to afflict mankind. An age of power, where all people possess a gift. Weavers have the ability to control various energies. Burners have the power to create fire or plasma from their own bodies. Breakers are imbued with massive strength and speed, the literal embodiment of power and energy . An age of shadow, where within the cities, corporations, and factions of government darkness hides, grows, and waits to reveal itself.

In New London City Hacey, a corporate thief, finds herself pursued. Unseen agents track her beneath the shadows she weaves. With the help of a mysterious new friend she aims to find out who is after her and why, even if it means accepting help from one of her competitors.

A dreamer has awoken. The dreams started when a corporate thief broke into Ukusa and stole what Joshua had been researching. Since then he has been dreaming of a soldier on a dark path to power. Joshua and his friends are forced to flee when they start investigating the thief. They find themselves on the run from more than the council guard and Ministry soldiers. The same dark group the soldier joined in the dream has set its sight on Joshua and anyone connected to the thief.

I was given this to review and accepted because the concept was interesting. However, it felt like it took a long time to get to the meat of the story. The story did have some interesting twists only the balance of past versus the present was somewhat confusing,  but not enough that I didn't want to keep reading to see where the story went. .This review was originally posted on Books In Brogan
