The Kingpins of Oklahoma City, one from the north side and one from the south side, push pounds of weed, gallons of PCP, and kilos of cocaine through the corridors of the OKC, using very different methods to keep their people in line. King is the leader of the north side crew. Along with his protégé, Tippi, he runs his crew with deadly force. Each member knows there is no room for error when it comes to getting money on the north side. Flamboyant, the leader of the south side crew, is the opposite. His crew is tight out of loyalty, not fear.King and Flamboyant know nothing of each other, especially the fact that they are both doing business with the same connect. The money is good for all involved, and it’s a win-win situation for Charli and Toni, the suppliers. They keep the reins tight on both leaders, because a war on the streets would be detrimental to their thriving business in Oklahoma City. Everything goes awry when Flamboyant’s woman, Shayla, becomes torn between her current man and the one who used to rule her universe—King. Once the lines are crossed, there’s no going back, and the war that Charli and Toni are trying to avoid becomes a reality. A love triangle fueled by two men who would gladly give their lives for the woman they love is causing death at an alarming rate. Is Shayla worth losing what these two men have built? In the end, which kingpin of Oklahoma City will remain standing?
I was sad at the end of this book. Yes it took me longer to get into this book, but I did like it. I think it's a good idea that Charlie and Toni decided to let each person know about the other. I won't give spoilers, but if you liked the other Kingpin books, you'll like this one.
whoa!! this book was crazy!! it was a page turner forever. I couldn't put it down, I do wish that one of the main Kingpins got to live, but I guess its the life they choose. Carl Weber is an excellent writer!!
Was challenging having to wait on others before I could keep on reading but we finally finished the book. By far this is the best kingpin book in the series. Flamboyant/Marco and King/ Trevor are what you call to different by far but pure Kingpins. This book is a page turner. I see why so many didn't like the ending. May not make sense but I'm so pleased how shocked and pissed of I was about the ending. Truly a page turner. Never heard of Clifford Spud Johnson before until Kinpins Oklahoma City . No doubt he has gained a fan.
Flamboyant and King what can I say two good characters with different personalities two things they had common money and they both loved Shayla. Didn't like that both characters died one should have survived. I think Toni and Charlie should introduced them in the beginning to me they were playing chess all they wanted was the money. King deserved to die he started the war and Shayla should have died with him she caused some of things that happened I liked her in the beginning then I started hating her. Tippi was crazy as hell but she loved King I can't believe she didn't kill Shayla. The thing that gets me is how two big time drug dealers live in the same state never meet and don't even know how each other look that part of the book I didn't get but it was a good book
If you're a fan of urban fiction like myself, this one delivers non-stop action, masterfully blends tension, betrayal, and street-smarts with a plot full of unexpected twists — unforgettable drama.🎭
It is a gritty, fast-paced ride into the heart of the Oklahoma underground. The characters are raw, real, and will keep you excited to read more! 📖
The characters Toni and Charlie were like puppet masters to King and Flamboyant. The characters had regular names like Marco and Trevor. I don't know what their regular jobs were but they had a lot of free time to eat in restaurants and direct the drug trade. There were no solved murders in this novel. The police were on the payroll and even with the increasing body count, they stayed on the sideline. There was on scene where a gang member was killed and the police supposedly impounded everyone. The murders continued. In the end, I wondered how a team of hit men snuffed out the life of the sole survivor. Aunt Doris May has to slow down on the weed!!
I Had That Feeling Flam Wasn't The Kinda Of Guy He Pretended To Be, But King Was My Dude From Day One....He Came To This Squad Always 💯🎯💯 But I Hate That Shayla Didn't Have Her Fairytale Ending With King🥺🥺🥺 But It Was A GREAT READ 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
While perusing the book I'd gotten the impression that I 'd read this story before from my Counterfeit Dreams series (SASHA RAVAE)! Imean, THE GUY ON THIS COVER EVEN RESEMBLES THE GUY ON THE "COUNTERFEIT DREAMS" BOOK1- DOWN TO THE SAME PLEATHER JACKET, BLACK FRAMED GLASSES, & HAIR CUT TO A TEE!
The Kingpin series as a whole is a good series to read. Action, love, and betrayal. It was a page turner for sure. If you like urban books, you will like this one.
The book started off slow for me but started getting my attention after finding out that King was Shayla ex. I was upset how the story ended everyone dies, other than that the book was exciting to read.
This book was action packed from the beginning. It was a great story about 2 past lovers who had moved on with their lives only to reunite in a violent future.
