In 1947 Chuck Williams arrived in Sonoma, CA with the idea of building homes—first as a contractor, later as the owner of a hardware shop and finally as the founder of the first Williams-Sonoma store for cooks. Half a century later that small cookware shop has evolved into a multi-billion dollar retailing leader whose products encompass every room in the home.
This is a short and simple book of donut recipes. I am not a fan of non-traditional recipes (the "exciting combinations" the book mentions in the preface), but the classic donuts seem good. I have only made the old-fashioned cake donuts with a vanilla glaze. They were wonderful: the vanilla was strong, the donuts were not too dense, and they tasted much better than a store-bought packet of them. I enjoyed the pictures in the text, and hope to try the apple fritters and the cinnamon twists. The filled donut will also be a treat.
This recipe book offers lots of insight into doughnut making. The photography is probably the best part of this book as some of the recipes were pretty meh.*
Amount the recipes you will find several very interesting and unique options. I’ll definitely be trying out several over the coming weeks. I gave the book 4 stars only because it was only 64 pages.
Great pictures, lots of info about doughnut making for beginners. I have honestly never attempted traditional doughnuts but baked doughnuts are a treat.
