Everyone Can Be Creative: Inspiring Habits From An Ex-Nun

Rate this book
CREATIVITY can change the world. Find out how you can be part of this change. Everyone has the gift of creativity. It's never too late to discover it, embrace it, and develop it - and this book is a great way to start. Two completely different worlds: the convent and an ad agency. Merging these two sounds impossible. One is anchored on serving God and the others; the other thrives on serving the ego. "Sin" is even in the word advertising. But the success of Merlee Cruz-Jayme and her small, world-renowned advertising agency proves that these worlds can indeed co-exist. In this guide to creativity and beyond, Merlee shares the valuable lessons she has learned from her rigid life inside the Benedictine Monastery, and how they prepared her to become the "Chairmom" and Chief Creative Officer of a world-famous company.

"This book is for the creative in all of us. I believe that however hard we try to train our brain to create, it simply takes a bigger power to sustain creativity" - Merlee Cruz-Jayme

A bit too sentimental (and narcissistic) at times, but I did find her stories from her convent experience interesting, especially in how each relates to one aspect of the author’s creativity. However, I think it is a bit too much of an “in general” approach and could’ve been more in depth.

If you are looking for something to read, read this now...

If you are currently reading a book, stop and read this now…

If you have read this, read it again…

If you have read it twice, read it many times…

Until you imbibe all the ideas found in this wonderful book…

Because you and everyone of us can be creative.

This book is the best book I’ve read so far this year. Actually, it is one of the best books I’ve read in my entire life. This book is life changing.

Merlee Cruz- Jayme is indeed an innovator, a change-maker and undoubtedly the most creative woman I have met. She is unbelievable. And to share her experiences in this book, is a great gift to the humankind.

The book is divided into 11 chapters. Each chapter will give you an insight about creativity and how you can practice and sustain it. It was not a technical based book on how to be creative or other whatnots. The chapters include her personal experiences, some of the projects she made, on what inspired her to make it, some facts and figures from other books, among others. Because of these snippets woven down to a one whole chapter, readers can easily follow and relate to her creative journey.

After each chapter, you will encounter “Creatip”, her daily dose of creative tip that you can live by every day. At the end, there is also a simple activity, that you can do to exercise your creative brain. Don’t worry the exercises are not that hard, there are examples that you can use to start with.

This book is filled with ideas, inspiration and dreams. If you are looking for a book to pump you, this book is the one. It is not that long. But you will wish it was. Because, you would want to hear more from this Power Mom.

Get inspired and cultivate creative habits.

I just finished completing this one and I had too many highlights and pen scribbles throughout the pages, meaning, it contains note-worthy lessons about life and about entering a life of creativity. It sometimes felt too centered on the author's life, but nonetheless it was an interesting read.

I might be going back to those chapter-specific exercises that's meant to help you hone out your creative juices.

A good choice after reading People person

The title itself is so welcoming, so encouraging. Because of the word “everyone”. Being creative is not confined with a sketch pad and pencil, brush and paint, pen and writing pad and so on. Everyone can be creative in solving pestering problems of the community.

The book would help you form creative habits. The author gives encouraging stories from her own experiences. Another thing, each chapter ends with “Creatips” and challenges that would get gears on your mind rolling.

A simple, helpful read for everyone to be more creative!
