From the glamorous resort of Marbella to the mean, dark and dangerous East End of Glasgow, The Reckoning follows the next generation of bitter enemies stalking the Coyles. The unknown enemy leaves a trail of death and despair and pushes the Coyle family to the brink of destruction. A tale of sadistic murder and extortion where there can be only one winner. The Reckoning is the third book in the Coyle trilogy continuing the drama brought to you in The Silence and The Betrayal.
The Reckoning is the third book in the Coyle series and you do have to read them in order to fully appreciate them. Whereas I felt the first book in this series was quite tame, and the second one had been cranked up a little bit, clearly the authors were saving the best till last with this book. Everything I loved about those first two books was present here and then some.
I obviously can’t talk about the plot for fear of spoilers, especially if you haven’t read the other books. This time around and it was the women that shone as characters throughout this book. The Coyle family have countless enemies, two of them working together in their quest to take control of Glasgow. They clearly had no idea just how dangerous the Coyle family can be when threatened. This is a fantastic rollercoaster ride of a read that once again takes place in Glasgow and Marbella. It’s an exciting read and with the family having so many enemies, even though as we read we know where the threats are coming from, we don’t ultimately know how things will end or where and when that final showdown will take place. It’s an intense read in places and I loved it. The characters are evil, twisted and I couldn’t get enough. This series has had everything I love about gangland thrillers.
This series by Linda Tweedie wasn’t even on my radar until a few weeks ago and knowing how many of my Goodreads friends love the likes of Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers and Jessie Keane etc, at the time of writing this review none of my friends have read this series and so if you are a fan of those aforementioned authors then I do highly recommend checking this series out. It’s different to read a gangland thriller set in Scotland and Marbella, it allows for a different reading experience than that which we are used to in the East End of London and it makes it a refreshing read for this genre. Very highly recommended and I hope Linda and Kate work together again to write another full-length story either featuring the Coyle family or a whole new cast of characters.
Another chapter in the lives of the coyle,s . Mainly set in Spain the story continues the ups and downs of the Coyle clan . Plenty of action . I give this book 4 stars
