The Origin Series is empire building at its finest, with 100 episodes and over 2.5 million words in the military science fiction serial detailing the rise of Star Force from corporate entity into an interstellar empire over the course of more than a millennium.
Follow a core group of characters known as the Trailblazers as they use alien technology and knowledge discovered in Antarctic ruins to obtain limited immortality and lead Humanity out into the galaxy, encountering, befriending, and fighting hundreds of alien races all the while desperately trying to prepare Earth for the unbeatable threat at the core of the Milky Way that is destined to return and reclaim their lost colony…and their former Human slaves.
Aer-ki Jyr is one of the top 20 science fiction authors on Amazon due to his extremely long and ongoing space opera epic STAR FORCE, one of the longest military science fiction series ever written.
Unfortunately, these will be the last Star Force books I read. I was hoping I could partially excuse this author's core ideas and even went so far as to confirm the original publishing dates of each of the books in this pack. I was hoping that he was just an extreme jackass in his early authorship and reeled it in when he wrote the backstory for the entire series. Nope. I was wrong, and I've had about as much as I can stomach.
As good sci fi as this could be, it fails horribly on a couple of basic levels, things that I tried very hard to forgive as artistic license. Here's the reason I won't be reading this series anymore, after having invested 72 books worth of my time into it. It's a really simple reason too. The author's unchecked ideology and half-baked philosophy is nonsense and he's allowed it to entirely permeate his writing. What finally sealed the deal on this was when, midway through Revulsion, the author went on one of his episodes where he decides to use a character in a fictional universe as a mouth-piece to talk about his opinion on real life using thinly veiled analogies. While going through it, it finally clicked. I realized where I'd heard an argument like that before. The author was talking about Star Force's imperative to fix a barbaric primitive civilization because they are the good guys and the barbarians are evil. I'm not going to word-for-word it here, but it suffices to say that it immediately matched up with imperialistic, ethnocentric nonsense I've been hearing for years on the internet. It made me reconsider everything I'd seen in this universe, from the way that other species are considered, described and treated to the cast of characters that the author chose to represent the best of the species to the way that the author's context choices for this story erases or dehumanizes entire populations of humans. This set starts off with describing gay people as dysfunctional members of the species. I'm pretty sure I've not heard a description, or seen a book cover, that has anyone that isn't white, though a few names may be asian. Also, really strange how these other species and their tactics and the way that they are considered seem to mirror some real life opinions on race. Specifically, it's really strange how the language used to describe Star Force versus the Lizards mirrors the language used to describe Western powers and the war on terror. It's really strange that Star Force's now dominant strategy for interacting with other races in annexation, which involves stripping the sovereignty of those other species, taking their children and raising them to be a part of Star Force's culture. I am shocked by how long it took me to catch that. And Star Force playing a similar role in the galaxy that the US/ UK/ EU attempt to play, putting their rules and expectations on others who are, and should be considered, of equal stature.
Needless to say, I'm thoroughly done with this series, this author, and possibly this sub-genre. It is more clear to me than ever that this genre needs a sea change.
I have purchased and read the entire origin series until this point, despite a few misgivings about the underlying personal beliefs the author clearly holds. However, in the beginning of book 18 one of the "heroes" is describing how the world is a better place because several groups of undesirables have been eliminated. While several of them even made sense the fact that GAYS were seen as a drag on society that needed to be eliminated was pointless to the story but says a lot about the author. While I am not gay myself, I have several gay and lesbian friends and I would be remiss as a straight ally of i continued voicing money to a blatant homophobe.
I went to the authors web page. Not only does he believe in the garbage he is spouting ( self sufficiency in his book, he argues with educated people linking him to proven pear reviewed science. This nut job thinks there is some cast conspiracy keeping us all form being immortal, or we are just fat loosers. I am not making this up, lol. He is also and anti vaxer, sigh.
"Roam a tier 3 region and there were no fat people, no old people, no cutters, anorexics, gays, addicts, loudmouths, egotists, zealots, ect." If I was not certain before about the authors views, I am now. Racist, facist, homophobic, neo nazi, uneducated, and most definitely incel. The author has no understanding of how the social structure he has created in hi books would would leave to and explosion of the negative behaviors he has listed. The author is damaged, uneducated, and very isolated from the world around him.
There is still a complete lack of understanding re modern warfare and the most basic applications therein. There are no soldiers as described in the book, just parasitic automatons not capable of mistakes, as they face videogame like combat instead of anything resembling warfare.
There are a number of star wars references In These books with starfarce eliminating itself with the rebels, when it has more in common with Darksun, a ruthless criminal organization created by the empire to handle matters that would tarnish their public image. The authors ideas all come from video games and movies lacking originality.
Star farce talks of allies but does not give them a vote, or say any situation. They are not allies , they are vassels to a lord at best, slaves by any other definition. Forcibly evicting colonists from empty worlds is a prime example of its hypocrisy. To include refusing access to a race of its liberated homeworld for the purpose of terriforming said world to human setting s. No care for another's culture or to allow any chance of said race to remember who they where before star force enslaved them, or ever again their independence.
Excessive detail on trivial, non story relevant items. The term "building a clock" comes too mind. As a reader I am waiting for the story to progress. I have an idea of details, even if my mind creates them from what is given, but I am more focused on the plotlines. the author going into excessive detail re character motivations or vehicle descriptions that have already been covered to adnauseam. Stop building the dam clock, just tell me what time it is.
The way the author rights about human sensuality, and sexuality only reinforces the believe he is an insel of some sort. He obviously is attracted to the female form, but his attacks an human sexual nature give the impression of personality disorder, or extreme bitterness re the opposite sex. The author views coupling as a means to destroy one's individuality, instead of the normal view that it is the evolution / maturing nature of a normal healthy adult.
Star force owns all property. How there are no political organizations or Grassroots groups that are extremely anti starforce only shows to the ignorance of this book and its utopianism. Not to mention cameras / monitoring devices everywhere. Welcome to the police state, that can and will invade your mind if they suspect you of anything. children taken at birth, Government controlled schools, and re education camps. This story is going more like n korea or Cuba under casto. Archons act like spoiled children, and are often bully s in the face of adversity, and non Star force ways. They throw tantrum s then blame others for their over reaction, sighting half thought out excuses that would not stand up to the average adult, or in court.
archons once again interfere with a non Star force culture, it's legal system, and ignores the ideals they constantly spout but do not fallow. An archons claims self defence, re a crowd of unarmed civilians, while in full high tech battle armor killing and crippling its way through a crowd. The hypocrisy of the archon knows no bounds in its childlike nature, bullying others into submission. Military and civilian prisoners are out in solitary confinement until they die or pass years of re conditioning therapy re a computers instructional program, in order to erase any culture, and brainwash them with Star force propaganda. These are just some of the nightmares held in this book and series. The more I read, the more I am convinced the author has a damaged sense of justice and sociopathic flights of fantasy. This story could not come from a healthy mind.
The archon see themselves as jedi, and make delusion leaps of faith to support this, when they are in fact worse then the sith from said movies, in their delusion and hate.
This is a trailblazer ( of the ruling class) talking to the founder of Star force: " “I still say it’d just be easier to conquer them all, one at a time if necessary, that way we wouldn’t have to deal with them being ignorant in the first place.” “I know, and agree. But we made agreements that we are not going to break, so long as they hold up their end. They start prohibiting emigration or eating meat and I’ll give you the go ahead to revoke their sovereignty. ". The ignorance they are referring to is how right and awesome starfarce is. The audacity of this story grows with each book. Any novelty or originality of this story is lost to the politics and ego stroking.

I have loved this series but I'm just not sure that I can continue now. In the first pages it talks about slackers, cutters, anorexic and gays, as well as other descriptions, basically calling then all losers. I am so angry and disappointed right now I'm struggling with what to say. People who cut and people who are anorexic have genuine health problems, they are NOT SLACKERS. Gay people are neither slackers or ill they are people who love and live their lives just like the rest of us. Up until now there has been no sign of any 'isms' in this series and it's been wonderful but in one sentence this has all been ruined.
I cannot remember what started in this book Red vs purple Provak (sp?) New sort of allies that know too much New weapons that work really well Scouts in the “frontier” Singers that are strong yet were almost kidnapped; I thought that story was going to get a completion - so many threads not yet tied up, hopefully the next book will tie some up
I like the short story lines mixed in but have a nagging feeling there should be more to each side story. They are just missing that final pop. That said way to keep it interest.
Great action, new aliens, maturation of primitive species, changing a destructive society an new technology. Gradually evolving star Force Archons and further glimpses of their ancient enemy.
Took me awhile to make it through this set of books, mostly because I had other books to read. There was a point in the book that got slow because it wasn't focused on the archons, but once I returned I was able to finish up the book without issue.
I am pleased to note a drop in the number of bad word choices in this book. It is good to be able to read a significant number of pages without cringing in anticipation of mental speed bumps.
I've enjoyed this series however it does tend to be a bit repetitious at times. I notice that it also has a fair amount of typos and grammatical errors.
This book is a gem, along with others in the set. The writer keeps me wanting more, and so in a consistent way that keeps me focused in the whole time.
