Never Mind!

Rate this book
Edward and Meg are like night and day. How could such different people be twins? Well, they are, but they don't have to like it -- or each other. For seventh grade, brainy Meg is attending ultra-competitive Fischer, while freewheeling Edward goes to an alternative school downtown. But it's just when they're finally out of each other's shadows that the trouble begins. Meg's aspirations for popularity and a boyfriend combine with Edward's devious planning and lack of singing ability to set off a showdown the likes of which twindom has never before seen. Why is this final showdown so much fun? Could it be that Meg and Edward are more alike than they thought?

I chose ‘Never Mind’ book for my book summary. It was written by Avi Rachel Vail. The genre of this book is realistic fiction and it has many funny parts. It took place at their school as well as their home. The story happened when the beginning of the school year at middle school.
Edward and Meg are the protagonists in this book. They are twins and borned in the same day. However, they both have different personalities. Edward is a naughty boy and Stu is the only one friend in his class. He ignored all of his classmates as well as his school lesson. Moreover, his friendship with others is terriful. Edward is twelve years old but he is shorter than his twin sister, Meg. He loves skateboarding and most of the time he stays at his backyard. Meg is not a great student but she is good at sport and she likes the soccer the most. She usually plays soccer with her classmates at the school soccer field. She has many friends and loved to be in a crowd. Since Edward and Meg do not go to the same school, she checks all of her school lessons with her classmates.
Kimberly and Stu are the minor characters in this book. Kimberly is a friend of Meg and the leader of High Achiever Club which Meg wanted to be in. She is rich and loves to have parties at her house. Stu is a friend of Edward and he has a stepfather who is a math teacher at high school. Stu is very good at playing bass guitar.
The story starts at their home, Meg tells her parents that she wants to be in High Achiever Club. Her parents allow but Edward refuses it because he think that he will be in Low Achiever Club. He wants to make a Club which is bigger than Meg Club. Therefor he asks Stu for help but he refuses it because he thinks it is not fair for Meg.
Kimberly loves Edward when he phones him about the band.Edward brags her about his skills in the band. So Kimberly invites Edward and Meg to her party. She thinks Edward will be smart and a great student.Kimberly let Meg to be in her Club because of Edward. At the party, Meg tries to ignore Edward as a brother and introduces him as a friend.
The problem starts when their mother comes to the party to pick them up.When the band starts Edward makes funny actions because he can’t sing as well as play guitar. However Kimberly did not notice Edward as Meg ‘s brother. On the way home, Meg explains her mother about Ted as Edward and they solve the problem.
As a conclusion, Kimberly figures out Edward as Meg’s brother and still let Meg in her club.
There is not much interesting parts as well as exciting parts. It base on how middle school students react each other. The theme that I learn is do not lie and tell the truth about who you are to you friends as well as parents.

This book, Never Mind is a twin novel which shows the situation of the story in two perspectives, Meg Runyon and Edward Runyon. They are the most different twins anyone had seen in their whole lives. Meg is smart and neat while Edward never studies and never cares. Meg worries about every single thing while Edward never worries about any single thing. They call each other Night and Day, totally different times of the day. Finally, they go to separate, different schools and has the chance to shine in their own ways... however, something happens that can ruin both Meg's and Edward's life. The only way to solve this problem is if they try to be alike and try think similarly. But how is that possible when they are Night and Day?

This book is really interesting and a short book that I read in ne day. It is something you should pick up if you want to read something funny and nerve racking at the same time.

This is a twin novel book about a brother and sister thinking they are different. Once one made a mistake of lieing they both get in big problems. But at the same time is funny.

Never Mind! is about twin siblings, Meg and Edward, who get caught up in a lie. Meg is new to a school for gifted students and longs to join the exclusive Club for High Achievers (CHA). To ensure her chances for membership into this club, she lies that her gorgeous twin brother's rock band will perform at a CHA member's birthday party. Her brother Edward is not gorgeous nor is he in a rock band. Edward finds out about this lie and accidentally creates a rock band to perform at the party to humiliate his sister. As each chapter alternates between Meg and Edward's stories, the lies become more intertwined. The characters realize at the end of the story that they are more alike than they ever imagined. I recommend this book for 5th-7th graders. A good book for teaching Voice (6 Traits); however, this book is best suited for teen enjoyment reading.

NEVER MIND By: Rachel Vail

The main character are meg and Edward, are twins. They both live in the same apartment on 101th street.

Both Meg and Edward think, hate being twin.

Meg Edward are so annoyed by each other. Edward can't decide "should I stay in the band or quit band?" Everybody thinks Meg has a boyfriend but she doesn't. Meg is so annoyed by the rumor.

NEVER MIND teaches the reader lessons like...

1. Growing up is hard but reading about someone else growing up could help you grow up.

2. Don't stop trying if you mess up.

Who knew that reading NEVER MIND could solve your problems?

I gave this 2 stars because all the book says is one phrase; the title. It just pains me to say it because I've seen that phrase so many times. I had to finish the book because I was more than halfway through, so I said, why not. But this book may had a lot of plot, but nothing really made sense (I'm pretty sure this is near my level, but it is just the way the author writes the book). But I like the fact of using perspective.

Never mind! is a book that puts 2 people, 1 story that goes at the same time. Rachel vial isn't documented very well, she writes what looks like young romance novels, and children books. Ed starts the book with him telling the reader that he and meg have nothing apart, besides being twins. Meg talks about how stressful she is,Ed and Meg go to different schools, and Meg is trying to act like she doesn't have a twin, and is trying to fit in with the “cool” kid, Kimberly. Kimberly accidentally calls Ed, Ed decides to mess with her, telling that Meg has a twin.Meg lies to Kim about her brother, accidentally making Kim fall in love with him. A party is happening on Sunday. Meg’s mom finds out about “Ted” (Ed) and Meg lies that she likes him. Ed makes a band. The party happens, Ed and the band sing, Kim is mad that “Ted” isn't there and leaves. The author made this book kinda boring. Nothing is really there to keep us entertained, besides it’s mostly Ed and Meg worrying about the party, and the other characters just being in the shadow of the party. Ed's friend is just there for the band part, nothing else, but when the party is happening, it's still pretty boring.I wouldn't be able to write something like this, and it's really good for someone like Rachel.there was some nice bits in it, like how Rachel thought up for them to both think of never mind for the band name, how the party is built up, and how we know how Ed+Meg, really don't want to go to the party.i kinda have one thing i don't like, and it’s that how Kim wasn’t caring about Meg, it was just said by Kim’s sister randomly. the ending was nice, it was pretty easy to read, and pretty predictable. my favorite part was....Never mind...i didn't like how both Ed and Meg whined about how they didn't want to go to the party, they dug their own grave!

I really like this book by Avi Rachel that has a concept of dragging you into the story and making it seem real. On the cover of the book it says "she's twelve noon. I'm midnight"-Edward. Once you read the first pages of it you start to understand why the cover of the book is like that. I'm going to explain some of the book so you can decide if you want to read it. Meg, Edwards twin sister, goes to this really high concentrated school its really competitive but she works really hard to get what she needs to be there. There is this high achievers club at her school and she decides to try it out but the only she got in was because of her brother. Her friends think he is really awesome because he is in a band called (never mind!). but now we should talk about Edward and what happens to him. Edward is a well rounded student also they do not go to the same school mostly because they are at different levels of reading and writing. anyways Edward gets himself into some complications along he gets into a band of some sort i'm going to explain much of it but hes a lead singer and turns out he doesn't get in trouble and his parents find out and that's all i'm going to say hope you like what you just read.

The book NEVER MIND by Avi is a excellent book, well thought out and had a very, very great story line. The book is basically showing the struggle of middle school and the way family should stick together to get through hard times. The twins Meg and Edward are the main characters and are extremely different and it makes the story better, in a way because they are more similar than they think. Meg is the popular one of the twins and Edward is a non high achiever getting bad grades and doing dumb stuff. The story goes on as Meg and Edward realizes the truth of middle school and become friends not just family. Well I could go on but well … Never Mind

Never Mind! by Avi is a really good book. The book reminded me of another book called Wonder, because they are both novels, and they both have multiple perspectives. In the book Never Mind! by Avi, Meg and Edward (The main characters) are extremely different, but they are twins. Meg is the picture perfect child, while Edward has problems, and doesn't get good grades. Meg tries to join a High Achievers Club, but Edward becomes Envious of Meg and her talents, so he tries to make sure Meg doesn't join the High Achievers club, and he succeeds. I would recommend this book to people who can relate to characters feelings.

Edward and Meg are twins. Although they may have the same birthday and have the same parents, they are nothing alike. Whether it's grades, personality, or height, these two people couldn't be more different. They are day and night. When Meg gets herself into a mess at her new school,Edward drags himself into it after listening to his sisters phone call. How will the twins be able to pull themselves out of this?

I'd never heard of this book, but my 3rd grade girl twin brought it home from the school library super excited about a book about girl/boy twins. I read it to my boy/girl twins, and it was okay. I didn't love how much the twins in the book didn't love each other. (I kind of didn't want my kids to know that was a possibility!) But the book's ending made up for all the meanness, and although my boy twin got super bored and stopped listening halfway through the book, my girl twin was captivated by it from the beginning to end!

Edward and Meg are twins and they think they are the total opposite of each other but it turns out they have a lot in common. At the start of the story they really don't like each other. But Edward and his sister Meg start to get along and by the end of the story they completly get along. Edward and Meg also start to think they might have other things in common theirselfs.

Halfway through the book I considered giving up. Was the book poorly written? boring? No ... I just figured that I wasn't the target audience.

However, somewhere there in the middle, the plot tightened and I chuckled out loud a couple of times (rare indeed). The plot is very tangled but it works out ... somehow ... in the end.

I absolutely loved this book. I like how it gives the point of views from Edward and Megan. It shows both of their sides of the story. This book was so unexpecting that I loved it so much. I would recommend this book to a friend.

Sweet story that highlights the difference in perspective from two siblings. It doesn't tell the same story from both twins but alternates chapters (and authors) between them.

Edward and Meg think they're both like night and day, even their mother. But they're twins so they do have some things in common and that's how I figured it out when both of them s=began to plan to trick on each other. Meg is the one that's always getting the straight A's in school but it's a different story for Edward. It all started with a phone call because Meg didn't want people to know that her twin brother is Edward. Not only that but she didn't even want people to know she even has a twin brother. So when her friend, Kimberly, asked her about Edward she made things up about him. For example, Edward plays music and even plays in a band and told her many things that aren't even true. While they were speaking Edward was eavesdropping and heard the whole conversation of what Meg said about him. So Edward decided to get back at Meg because he thinks Meg wanted to play a trick at Edward. So Edward has been speaking with Kimberly and Meg doesn't even know about it. He even told he was going to play with his band at her party when he doesn't even play any type of instrument. While on the other side meg was trying to think of why the band wouldn't show up and there isn't even a band. Once day Meg thought of a band name( Never Mind) when she was about to tell her friends they already knew about when she didn't even tell them yet. That's because Edward has thought of the same band name and before they even know it the party day was coming up and Edward didn't want to do it anymore. On the day of the party Edward did show up though with his "band members" and people didn't think it was that bad. Kimberly haven't met Edward and had asked him to be her boyfriend. He was thinking very deeply so he didn't even know he accepted to be her boyfriend until later he found out. But Kimberly didn't know that Edward was smaller than she was in size and there really was no ted is was just Edward all along. So Kimberly got all mad that he didn't show up at the party when he really did. But the most important thing was during the performance Meg was smiling at Edward and seems to be having a great time.

It is always so much fun to read new books ordered for the library over the summer. I chose this one first because I love Avi and was intrigued with the concept of a book being narrated by twins (one a boy, one a girl). Despite what everyone says, not all twins are best friends and finish each other's sentences and are attached at the hip. Meg and Edward don't get along and are nothing alike. Meg is smart and popular and neat and a great athlete. Edward is, well, the polar opposite.

When Kimberly, the most popular girl at Meg's new school for the gifted (needless to say, Edward doesn't attend) calls Meg to ask her if she wants to join the High Achiever's Club, Edward answers the phone. He tells her he is uMeg's twin and tells her he goes to a detention home for troubled boys. Which is not true, but he certainly does not want his perfect sister to get into a High Achiever's Club. That would make him look so bad!

When Meg and Kimberly actually get to chat and Kimberly has all these questions about her mysterious twin brother, Meg somehow explains he is tall and handsome and plays in a band. Kimberly is psyched and asks if the band can play at her party the next weekend. Meg doesn't know what to say, but Edward has been listening on the other line and knows just what to do. He calls Kimberly back and says his (nonexistent) band will do it. He can't wait to see how Meg will get out of this one!

So many lies are told and stories made up, and it is a total comedy of errors. I love reading stories from two different perspectives, and this one will make you laugh and wonder how the twins will get out of every situation.

I just read the book Never Mind by Avi Rachel Vail. This book is about two twins who are compete opposites. First of when they started middle school their parents had put them in different schools. Meg goes to this Honors school called Fischer and Edward goes to a less gifted school. So now the school year Has started and Meg starts to find friends at Fischer. One of those friends is having a party so Meg hears from a phone call about the party but Edward is listening in on the phone call from the kitchen phone. Edward finds out that his sister made up a fake twin brother replacing him. His name is Ted and he is supposedly tall, handsome and has a Band that will play at that party. Meg has dug her self into a ditch and doesn't know what to do. Edward on the other hand knows about the phone call so he is working on getting a band to play at the party but Meg doesn't know. You will have to read to find out what happens throughout the night of the party. I really liked the book because there was a lot of suspense in the rising action before the party. Edward is very nervous before the party as well as Meg. Edward exclaims on the elevator how nervous he is about the party they are playing at. "We zipped up to the twelfth floor. Too fast. I was nervous but, by then I could tell so was everyone."(156) Overall I really liked the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense. This book includes a lot of suspense in the rising action before the party. The age group I would recommend this to would be from fifth grade to eighth grade.

I thought that this was a really good book. It had some twist and turns that happened. This book is about twins that are totally opposites that have never had the same interests. They are always fighting and never agree. They are complete opposites. Edward the brother has gotten really good at listening on in Meg phone calls. He even learned how to make it look like he hung up but he is really listening. Meg tries to get into this really cool party that is the best one of the year. She said her brothers band will play for the party if she is invited. The twist and turn is that her brother has no talent, he has no band, and only has one friend. In the end it all pulls together in a strange way. Lets just say that Edward's phone tricks really come in handy.

This book is more for people who like realistic fiction, who like a little bit of humor and a lot of lying and twist and turns. This book is about 200 pages. It is a pretty short read. I really hope that if you are wanting to read this than you will like it. I have a feeling most people who like what the summery is about they will really love this book. I loved this book.

This book is a flipflop book with two narrators. it switches narrators from chapter to chapter and each narrator is by a different author. the narrators are twins (brother&sister) who are completely opposite of each other. For example, height, looks, popularity, etc. Basically what happens is the brother starts a band that gets "popular" and the sister's popular friends all want a piece of the band members. the sister has a crush on the band leader who is actually her brother. in the end, when everyone finds out the truth about what the band really is, the twins get closer to each other.

THIS BOOK BLEW MY MIND AWAY! The author’s style was so special and I can say “one of a kind”. It’s taking perspectives of 2 people. One’s a boy and the other is a girl and you’re reading the life of 2 teens in one book. So you can know how hard it is that the author was able to find a technique to write about 2 different sex and 2 different teens.

I would like to recommend this book to people who likes good books.

The title of the book is Never Mine by Rachel Vail.
I think the ending of the story was effective because it ended with, “Never Mind”. I thought that was interesting to end with the title of the book.
The reader of this book may appeal teenagers because it's based on two teens.
When Meg is attending Ultra-Competitive Fischer and Edward goes to Alternative School downtown.
