This is the story of a loner girl (Clover) who has no social life and a guy (Range) who had a rough past. I don't know that I've read a book that had so many metaphors in it, and so many metaphors that didn't make sense, or were completely odd. For example, "My c*ck got so hard at the sight in front of me, I could have built a Tudor style house with it." Ummm... besides the WTF factor, why a Tudor style house, and not a Victorian or Craftsman style house? Other metaphors used, (while the female protagonist was having an orgasm) "she was screaming so loudly, I could hear the paint peeling off the ceiling." There are so many questions with this... if she's screaming so loudly, wouldn't it be hard for you to hear anything? And what sound does peeling paint make? Can you scream so loud that you make the ceiling paint peel??
And there are more metaphors... (also describing an orgasm) "She went off like an f*cking shotgun... I quickly followed, throwing my head back, shouting to the ceiling like I was Hercules and I'd just slayed a lion." The sex scenes, while original in their strange metaphors, were completely unsexy and at times humorous. Yet another metaphor, "my c*ck is hard as Chinese arithmetic right now." I googled, "Chinese arithmetic" to find that it is in fact an idiom, but it means, "If something is complicated and hard to understand, it's like Chinese arithmetic." So, given the definition of the idiom, it clearly makes no sense as a description of the status of ones' genitals.
This was such a quotable book (and not in a good way), as I kept reading excerpts aloud to my husband. "Buckle up, baby. Once we get home, my d*ck is gonna get real close to your tight p*ssy until they fuse together like hot metal." That just sounds painful. And then there was this sentence, "I wanted to pack a bag, move into her c*nt, and never leave it." Umm... what??? Yet another puzzling sentence was, "I loved my sleep like a fat kid likes cake."
As far as the story goes, it is as weak as the writing. And I didn't even mention the large amount of typos that kept pulling me out of the story. In this book there is a perceived threat from a biker, who threatens Range and stalks his girlfriend Clover yet at the end you find out he's trying to protect his sister from being forced to marry the president of an MC. The connection between his actions, and what the biker needs from Range and Clover is weak. Despite the fact that this biker has been threatening them and stalking Clover, and that he shot out the window of Range's house in a drive-by, his explanation about his actions moves Clover to tears when she hears it. If someone stalked me, threatened me and shot out my window while I was having a party, putting several people at risk, I wouldn't feel sorry for him no matter what his story is. Then there's a seemingly random event that happens with a brief character previously mentioned once, that has nothing to do with the rest of the book. People are shot and one is killed by this random character. The biker gets no closure but is now on good terms with Range and Clover and the book ends. WTF?
But that's not what bothered me the most. In the end, one of the characters brought up the fact that Michael Douglas (the actor) said on TV he got throat cancer from giving cunnilingus. The other characters laugh hysterically at the person who said that, and they later referred to what Michael Douglas said as "bullsh*t". This is supposed to be a light, humorous ending of the book, but in reality it is anything but humorous. This is extremely irresponsible of the author, because Michael Douglas was not lying about his cancer being a result of contracting the HPV virus through oral sex. In fact, a quick google search of mine found that about 14,000 throat cancers are diagnosed each year in the US, and about 70 percent of those are related to contracting HPV through cunnilingus. In fact, it's such an epidemic, pediatricians are now advising parents of teen boys to have them vaccinated for HPV. My teen's pediatrician talked to me about it and I had my son vaccinated for HPV as a result. This is a serious subject and people are dying of throat cancer. With the characters in this book making fun of what Michael Douglas said, and referring to it as "BS", that is actually causing harm to the general public for anyone who reads this book and believes what the author says about it.

Dirty boy meets sweet innocent chick because of a spider!!!
I absolutely loved this story.
Range and Clover's story is definitely one like no others. All over a spider this couple entangled in the sheets but not before falling dangerously in love.
Trials and tribulations that brought them so close it was scary.
Living in Range's world for one day made everything around them crumble and finally the pieces just seemed to fit back together perfectly.
I cried and screamed. I wanted to throw my Kindle a couple of times.
I was so lucky to receive a copy of this book for an honest review!
Absolutely fabulous read. I can not wait to see what book 2 has in store. ♡

As soon as I started reading this book Range pulled at my heart strings. When were introduced to Clover you feel like she's an average girl and totally can relate to her. Put these two together and WOW! Their story is pure and precious, Buck and what happened to him in the past was heartbreaking when we find out but made him the incredible man he turned himself into. I didn't want to put this book down, throughout the entire book something was happening that wanted you to keep going. I do have questions as to what's up with Max though, think maybe he could have the chance to venture off into his own story and find out. Absolutely loved this book from beginning to end.

Amazing
So this book was brought to my attention today, I knew I was going to like it but that changed when I read about Range and Clover's story. I loved it. I laughed so hard a couple of times then I was really sad about Range's past. There was a lot of heart and emotions in this book. I highly recommend this book to everyone! I hope the next book will be about Sebastian!

Kudos SH Richardson for writing such a unique story! The uniqueness to this story alone deserves the four-stars! I wasn't sure what to expect. I honestly was scared. I didn't want to not like this book. But because of its uniqueness, I was afraid.
SH's writing style is rough around the edges still. This is expected. This is her first novel. I give her a virtual high-five for trying to write in a way other writers don't. She has a voice in her writing that stands out. I admit, I am not sure how well her euphemisms are a little more advanced than what the typical reader is used to. I liked that. I may not have liked them all, but I got them and loved the originality in them.
I think that you are getting the point that this isn't a typical romance. It's rough and gritty. It gets down and dirty. Personally, I could do without some of the sex scenes, but that's just me and my preference. They fit. They flow with the story. If you follow my reviews, you know I am not a big s-e-x lover.
I am very curious to see what SH brings us next.

WOW, I LOVED THIS!
The backstory to Range was heart warming, this hungry neglected boy was taken in by an ex biker Buck who took him under his wing, looked after him as one of his own and so Range became one of the Junk Yard Boys.
Clover had a history of her own although a good upbringing she basked in the shadows of her sisters, almost like Cinderella and Range definitely got her glass slipper.
A hot intense story with an alpha male who claims his woman and won't let go. There's angst, drama and action an absolute all round contemporary romance and any lover of MC reads will love this as it has that feel to it.
Loved Bucks alpha ways and Clover's humble and timid personality.
Told in dual povs which I love,the pace was just right with a great balance of hotness,drama and angst in all the right places. I felt the finish was a little rushed so crossing fingers for glimpses of more from Range and Clover in another book.
A great debut novel and I will definitely be looking out for more from the Junkyard boys from S.H Richardson.

All I can tell anyone is READ THIS!!! I sort of had a half-baked image in my head of Garbage Pail Kids (don't question how my brain works, just go with it). Range (and Max and Sebastian) are definitely NOT GPK.
Simply put, Range is hot! He has his quirks (who doesn't?) but you can tell he is really interested and cares about Clover.
And Clover is just adorable. You want to reach through your kindle and just give her a hug! I totally understand how she doesn't feel like she fits in with her family and just tries to hide and not give them any more fodder to make fun of her with. And thank goodness for her finding her backbone and saying something and learning to speak up for herself rather than just hide unless spoken to.
I can't wait for more of the boys! I just know that while Sebastian seems like a marshmallow, I think Max will be the one with that makes the hardest fall when he meets the one.

Although this book did have its funny moments, and some potential, it really wasn't for me. I found the characters very one-dimensional, almost more caricatures than actual fully-fledged human beings. None were particularly likeable, reactions seemed too forced, and Clover was basically a drippy bore. The relationship between Range and Clover felt seriously lacking in chemistry, and their sex scenes weren't too hot either. I just could not get past him calling her "tootsie baby". That shit's just not okay.
I felt the plot progressed too quickly, a lot was left unexplained, and it was pretty overly dramatic and nonsensical. Richardson's writing also didn't do much for me - there were too many pointless (and, frankly, laughable) similes, and the second half definitely felt like it had been rushed in comparison to the first. Unfortunately, there just wasn't any emotional interest in this for me.

Range had a rough childhood. His parents didn't care he was hungry, lice invested and lonely. He finds what her is looking for in his friend and father figure Buck. Range may have had a bad childhood but he's doing well for himself now. He's protective, loving and scary all at the same time.
Clover is a lonely girl. Still living at home, she is the sweetest innocent women you'll ever meet. She also had a troubled childhood which makes them a good couple.
A chance being had these two starting a relationship. These two are just so sweet but they could have trouble coming their way. This book start to finish had me in a emtionally state because these chacsters reminded me so much of myself and my childhood. I could see myself in both of them. I'm excited to learn more from the other chacters. 5 stars.

Loved this
This was the first book I have read by SH Richardson and I Loved it! I laughed so hard, my hubs actually yelled at me for being loud. Clover was not what I expected as I read into this story. I had her pegged for a very shy woman. Boy was I wrong. I feel in love with Range. From his hard beginning of life to the man he grew up to be. This story was funny, steamy, serious, sad, and utterly amazing. I hope to see more of The Junkyards Boys soon.

Wow I could not put Junkyard Boys down. It was fast paced and there wasn't a dull moment. You'll fall in love with Range and Clovers story. Can't wait for The Scrapyard Man.

As a child, Range Reardon had a hard and discouraging upbringing until a thoughtless comment by a schoolmate sends him running, literally, into the arms of Junkyard owner and former MC, Buck. Being raised by Buck with the other boys who came to be part of their family, they only had each other.
That is until Range meets sweet yet lonely Clover Benjamin. Clover lives with her family; mother, retired father, who moved them from New York to Virginia, and two sisters. But she's the outsider in the family. Though she loves them and knows they love her, she never quite felt like she fits in. She looks very different from her beautiful, model-esque sisters. She's shorter and curvier.
The moment Clover meets Range, he knows she's his forever and sets out to make sure she knows it as well. Things are going well until someone from Buck's past brings danger into their lives. Range is determined to protect Clover at all costs. But what will that mean for the rest of his family.
Though their meeting was a little extreme (and when you read it you will understand what I mean), I really enjoyed the book. It was a very quick read for me, but filled with a lot of story and emotion. I am so curious about both Maxwell and Sebastian aka Drama's stories, though Sebastian is a little more open about his upbringing.
The author also alludes to many more boys that Buck took care of, at one point mentioning that other boys were away on deployments and there's one called Memory who shows up from the Marines at the end of the book.
This book is a cross between alpha romance and MC drama. It was definitely different in that it had that mix. None of the boys are into the MC life, as they know what Buck went through and why he got out. But they all have issues from their childhood that color their adulthood that weren't easy for them then and aren't easy for them now. They all struggle with things that made them who they are now.
I loved how a very hard man, who lead a very hard and violent life, took in boys who needed guidance and encouragement, leading them to better adults than what they would have been without him, with the exception of Max.
I also loved how they all had a specialty when it came to defending themselves. It was like Buck created a mini army.
It was sweet and cute in some places, yet very thrilling and sad in others.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next book, which will be Sebastian and Ashley's (Clover's sister) story. And I know Max's story will be spectacular.

To say that Range Reardon comes from a difficult background would be putting it gently, but under the guidance of a gruff, old biker Buck, he grows into a strong and trust-worthy man. When Buck decides it's time for him to move on, he leaves everything to Range. Along with the responsibility of making sure the other "junkyard boys" are looked after. Range doesn't have time for anything other than work and watching out for the boys, until Clover comes along.
Clover Benjamin is nothing like the girls Range is used to dealing with. With her upbeat, positive outlook on life and the fact that she smells like delicious candy, he knows that he'll never get enough of her. Hopefully his ugly past and the dangerous events he finds himself part of won't push Clover out of his life for good.
I would recommend this book and I hope that we get to read more about the other junkyard boys in upcoming books.

This story was like nothing I have read before. I was amazed at the words on the pages and how well the story flowed. Both characters are different then the normal. Each comes from a hard life and a world of pain in their own way, when they come together it's like magic on the pages. You can tell that most of all the characters are really close and love each other one big happy family. I read this story really fast I couldn't put it down I was amazed on every page. Each word had my on edge and craving more on every turn. I loved the names so unique and fit each character right to the T. I would recommend everyone to read this story its one that really gets to you on whole new level of romance and love. MUST READ

Clover and Range were complete opposites. Clover was innocent, naive, and I found her to be a too sensitive. I think maybe her character should have kept up with the take no prisoners attitude with Marci but throughout the book. I loved Range however. His character was strong and caring and he was a gentleman knowing that's what Clover needed. His wrong side of the tracks upbringing to a strong business man is admirable.
I didn't love this story mostly because I felt Clover needed to be a stronger character and I didn't really connect with the story. The blast from the pasts and the strange quirks of the other characters kind of threw me off on this story. Idk why.

This book is about Buck's junkyard boys Range, Maxwell and Sebastian are active characters in this book but there are others in it but are said to be in active service.
Clover meets Range while walking home one night by jumping on his back because of a spider.
Really like this book it has heartbreaking moments that make you cry.
Hope more is in store for the future

Great Read!
Range was the perfect gentleman of an alpha. Sexy, hot and protective. His story broke my heart and from the first couple pages I wanted to put my arms around him and never let go.
Him and clover were amazing together and the other characters were a match made in heaven. The dialogue was great and you couldn’t help but fall in love with each and every character, flaws and all. Clover was the quiet girl who surprised you with her spirit. You saw past the craziness of Max to know his heart. You saw the heart of Sebastian behind all his words and Range was a mixture of perfection.
They all had their past, but together they had a future. I sure hope Max and Sebastian have their own story as well.

Loved how they met, hated losing a character in the first book. Can't wait to meet the other boys, but felt the suspense was a bit far fetched and could have been settled with a conversation instead of the measures taken. I will probably read the other books as I want HEA for Max and Seb

Both lead characters, Range and Clover, are products of bad childhoods to different degrees. Whereas Range was neglected on every front until he was taken under the care of Buck, the local junkyard owner, Clover suffered emotional distress by family and townsfolk alike for looking so dissimilar to her other family members. A rogue spider of SciFi Saturday proportion serves as the catalyst that initially allows these two to meet. A cute and funny scene, for sure. Their draw to one another is magnetic. While our lead characters are not perfect, they are human. There are unresolved issues and hangups that have molded and shaped them into who they are today. Buck tries to make up for past sins by taking in these lost boys, raising them as his own and teaching them how to be upstanding men. These boys, along with Clover's co-workers and family serve as part of the secondary cast list. Interaction and dialogue is very good, the plot was dynamic, layered, emotional and flowed extremely well.
There are some conflicts, but the issues really were over-dramatized and could have been dealt with in a much more efficient and smarter manner. I can say, in all honesty, that every time I thought I figured out where something was headed, Ms. Richardson took me in the opposite direction. The conclusion is wrapped up quite nicely and even Buck's cat is included in the Epilogue. I am hoping this is only the first to a series, because I have a feeling Max has a very dark and sexually-abusive past leading him to his depravity now and would love to learn more about him and Sebastian. I also think we've not seen the last of Julian and suspect that he and Mia may even become part of the Junkyard boys as time goes by. I would read more from this series and author and I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a blend of hot and sweet sexy romance and gritty, romantic suspense. There's just enough biker content to fans of the MC romances as well. Overall, a very good debut and daresay this is an author to watch!

The Junkyard Boys was a likable debut novel.
Range was a lost boy taken in by a loner of a junkyard owner as a kid. Buck essentially raised Range when his own father had no interest in it. Ranges childhood fueled his need for revenge and to be a person that will never be unclean again. Clover is a quiet black sheep of her family. Shes more geared to staying by herself than being the life of the party like her sisters. She spends her time submerged in old movies and her job at the local confectionery. Her life changes in a freak incident where she winds up climbing Range to escape a spider. Its all downhill for both of them from that moment. Little do they know that their road to love will be brutal and rocky.
Range and Clover were characters that were interesting, especially Range. I appreciated his back story that gave him more depth. Clover was a bit wishy-washy and whoa-is-me. In interactions with Marci, she did show a bit more steel which I liked.
All in all the book as a whole was enjoyable. The first half was a good pace but the second half had a lot of plot crammed into it that left you some what dazed. The culmination of what took place with Julian felt very open-ended and unfinished. Maybe we will see him in a future part of the series?
This is my confession: While I did enjoy this quick read, it didn't really start any fires for me. I do however believe that SH Ricardson has A LOT of potential. I will definitely read the future books in the series. Maxwell to me is very intriguing. The vagueness of his past has me interested and I do love a good mystery. All in all, a decent debut and the author can really build on what she started.

Fantastic read!
For a first time author what a great story. The love story between Clover and Range is fantastic! I love the fun and laughter, the banter between the characters.
Clover is this recluse who thinks she different from her family. She is such a loving character who is sensitive to other people. As she's described to have a bleeding heart. She's funny and witty and all around a strong female character.
Range comes from a hard life growing up, to a strong and powerful grown man who has a past he's not proud of. He is strong and can come off arrogant but he's loving and protective.
A chance meeting due to a spider changes their lives. The connection and pull towards each other is fantastic. The back story for both characters make them mesh well. I love the comedy in their romance as well.
Tootsie baby is such a cute nickname that Range calls Clover. The supporting characters are funny and full of love for these two. Buck is such a strong supporting character as well and the sacrifices I'm sure will play a role in the future stories.
I recommend this book for anyone who likes New adult romance as well as comedy. Great read! Definitely watch out for this author who is about to take off! Don't miss out!

Wow!! This book was absolutely amazing!!! I loved every minute of it!! This book had everything from love, hot sex, and everything in between!! The chemistry between Clover and Range was absolutely amazing!!! Range grew up with a hard life alcoholic father and crappy home life! When one fateful day from running away from school did he know he was going to run into a man that would change his life for the better! Buck helped Range become a man and know what it means to be one! Showing him how to defend himself and so much more! Then one day Range doing normal routine he gets attacked by a girl who little did he know was fighting off a pesky little spider!!! Clover is the shy quiet girl who enjoys watching old classic movies! Day dreaming that maybe one day the man of her dreams will sweep her off her feet! Though it ends up her jumping the man of her dreams and sweeping him off his feet! This book was perfectly written it makes you happy, makes you laugh and even makes you cry some!! I can't wait read more!! One of the best books I have read so far this year!!!

This was the first in the Junkyard Boys series and I'm thinking there will be at least 2 to follow after this, but we will see what the author does.
Range had a crappy beginning, but from the age of twelve he had someone backing him; Buck the owner of a junkyard that Range ran too. From that point on, Range had a place and a purpose.
Clover, was the odd ball of her family; she didn't look like her sisters and they never let her forget it, she just didn't seem to fit in. The day she meets Range, that all changes.
I must say this was a different type of read for me. The characters seemed to talk like they were from a different era at times, describing Range as a suitor for instance. With some violence, drama, and a couple of nice sexy times scenes this book seemed to have it all. I felt that the issue they were dealing with... was a bit far reached but that's just IMO. I give this 3.75 stars

I couldn't believe how much I loved Range's mouth... he actually speaks what he thinks!!
He's not the only boy that Buck took on... Maxwell & Sebastian too
Clover Benjamin - I adored her... So much going on in her head, I actually love the way Clover & Range met each other...

What a fantastic work in contemporary fiction. I was blown away from the first page to the last by this romantic suspense must read! I did not want to put it down whenever I had to. With a totally different & unique story-line, great descriptions that pull you in, likable characters with entertaining dialogue and twists & turns, this will keep the reader engaged & the pages turning! Other than some typos & minor missed edits (totally normal for a new author learning the ropes & trying to do most everything by herself) I was impressed that this was so well written :D I can honestly say that this is a 'must one-click', and a must add to your TBR list in the meantime! BTW- make sure to have plenty of time available to read, coz once you start, you won't want to put it down! I can't wait for the next book in this new series :D

What a great read! The author hit it out of the park on her first try. I have been waiting for a book this good for a while. It had everything I was looking for. A strong heroine with a good head on her shoulders. She's a little naive but not some brokendown trainwreck. A strong alpha male who is loyal to his friends and family and would do anything for them or his woman. He's smart and doesn't have the vocabulary of Tarzan. He's a good guy but still a bad boy. This book has a little bit of everything good, bad, and ugly with a little humor mixed in. I can't wait for more in this series and from this author.
It could have used some better proofing. There were a few typos and grammatical errors, which is a personal pet peeve but not so many that it took away from the book.

WOW!! I was not expecting the book to be the way the cover was or how the title was. I didn't read what it was about when I got The Junkyard Boys I just liked the name and the cover. Yes it has to do with some boys who were saved by a man named Buck who owned his own junkyard but I was thinking it to be something not even sure what but different. I LOVED this book. Seeing two have a past where they were really low to come in contact when older and each seem better when they are together. I love how Clove met Range by jumping on him when she sees a spider. lol Reminds me of when I see a snake. The chemistry between the two is great. The characters were strong even when they were weak due to life. The story line was excellent. Hope there is more to these characters.

The three young men, Range, Sebastian and Max, found a wonderful man in Buck who made them a family. Then Clover enters into Range;s life and she is nothing like the girls he is used to dealing with. She appears to have positive outlook on life and simply being near her drives him mad. Event though he tries to stay focused on helping Sebastian and Max he finds his thoughts always returning to Clover. Can he overcome his past and the dangerous events he seems to keep finding in order to keep Clover in his life for good.
Great complex well developed characters and so well written I had to read it in one day. SO looking forward to hearing the other boys stories.
