I grew up in four different cities in three different Western states. I have a PhD in English, and I’ve worked as an insurance investigator, English teacher, and tutor.
I live in a 1960’s tract house in a small town near San Francisco. Its rooms are painted orange, green, and blue, with dog hair and dust bunnies drifting into the corners. In these rooms I write stories, weave tapestries, paint pictures, and try to decide what’s for dinner.
I found myself becoming tense & couldn't put the book down toward the end. Lots of plot twists & turns. What I didn't care for was the writer's use of Pete's words of endearment (sweetheart, hon, etc.) toward someone he just met.. made him sound like an insincere & untrustworthy playboy or someone back in the days of Sam Spade. Other than that minor annoyance, I really enjoyed the book.
Hey, I read this book and I loved it! Guess what, I wrote it, too--but you know, I'm my own toughtest critic. Give it a try if you like funny, suspenseful mysteries with interesting characters!
