Snuggle up with this sweet bedtime story about friendship and bravery that’s sure to give you the warm fuzzies.
Yeti loves his stuffed toy Chunk. They play together all day and snuggle up under the covers each night. But when Chunk goes missing, Yeti has to go to bed alone in the shadowy dark. Unless, of course, he can summon all his courage to stage a dramatic rescue—Yeti-style!
This is the second picture book written and illustrated by Vin Vogel. His debut, The Thing About Yetis , was described as “sweet and funny” by The New York Times , and Booklist called it “a cozy—and comforting—companion.”
Vin Vogel is an award-winning Brazilian author-illustrator who has illustrated more than fifty books for children and young adults, including his own The Thing about Yetis, Bedtime for Yeti, and A Home for Leo.
While the cover art looks like a sleepy father yeti about to put his baby to bed, this is actually the story of young yeti who misplaces his stuffed yeti before bedtime. Going to bed alone can be a scary thing especially with the shadows, night noises, and inclement weather. But when he spies his beloved stuffed toy on the floor across the room during a flash of lightning, he works up his courage to get out of bed and rescue it.
Children will relate to the young yeti's fear especially if they need a specific stuffed animal or blanket to fall asleep.
Maybe I just loved the first Yeti book so much, that this one just had no chance of measuring up. I liked it, but it just isn't quite as good as the first one. It's still cute, and a great one for little ones at bedtime or who are facing fears. Maybe it's just missing the *puff* of Yeti after his bath? That was just one of my absolute favorite pictures!
I'd still use it in a storytime. Bedtimes, stuffed animals, fears, or yetis come to mind. And I'd definitely still recommend it to my little readers. I just like the first one that much more.
About a little Yeti who loves his stuffed toy Chunk. They’re inseparable best friends and they sleep together every night. One day Chunk goes missing and the little Yeti faces bedtime all by himself. Not only is the darkness kinda scary, he’s worried about his friend? Where could Chunk be? This endearing story is guaranteed to be a hit. I love the themes about friendship and bravery. It’s really good for children who have anxiety about sleeping alone and features wonderful age appropriate artwork. Definitely worth checking out.
Yeti has a best friend, his stuffed yeti. They do everything together! When his friend gets lost one night, Yeti looks everywhere but can't find him, so Yeti has to go to bed alone. Sadly, he's a bit scared of the dark and it's stormy outside. Will Yeti survive? Will he find his best friend? A decent, but not outstanding, story time book.
Yeti has a stuffed animal friend who keeps him company at bedtime and helps protect him from his fears. One night when he cannot find him at bedtime he looks all over and then has to go to bed without his friend. Will he be able to tackle the scary things at night without his best friend?
When Yeti can’t find his stuffie, he is scared to go to bed in his shadowy, dark room with a thunderstorm outside. But when he sees his stuffie in danger, he gathers his courage to rescue him. Cute. Short.
As far as yeti books go, I found this to be lackluster. There is a yeti with a little stuffed animal. He loses the stuffed animal, so he can't go to sleep. I didn't really like the story or illustrations.
Yeti spends all of his time with his little stuffed friend (also a Yeti). He gets a little frantic one night when he can't find his friend at bedtime. After a lengthy search that yields no results, Yeti tries to go to bed by himself. It is so scary. The dark. The things in the dark. Hey, one of those things is his stuffed Yeti! Yeti finds the courage to rescue his friend from the things in the dark and is finally able to settle into bed once they are both safe. Cute story that kids will be able to relate to - especially the ones who need a special toy, blanket, ritual before they can fall asleep. Doesn't particularly stand out, though.

Very cute - a combination of the lost-toy and the fear-of-the-dark plots, but it's effective, especially with the adorable illustrations. (I do wish Chunk looked a bit more...toy-like?)
Confusing layout, only a few words on some pages. Most definitely a well-intended message, but missed the mark a little in the storytelling. I'd have liked to see more happen in those pages!
Yeti has a stuffed yeti that he plays with all day and sleeps with at night. His best pal is always there for him until one day Yeti can't find him. What will Yeti do without him? How can he go to bed and face all the spooky things in the dark without his little pal. Then Yeti spies him, but he's surrounded by danger. Can Yeti muster the courage to save his little friend even though he's scared? Great book to encourage kids to face their fears and believe in themselves. Perfect for story time.
This is an adorable book. It covers what Yeti and his stuffed animal yeti (chuck) do together. The "story" hinges on Yeti losing Chuck and then needing to go to bed. Yeti is scared of a lot of things, but then he finds chuck and they go to bed.
Short phrases. Small pictures. Colorful. Cartoon Pictures.
SO cute. Yeti has a miniature stuffed animal version of himself and they do *everything* together. But when Stuffed Yeti goes missing, Yeti has to be brave enough (in the dark!) to go find him.
Even yetis are afraid of some things... storms, darkness, and danger. And when this yeti loses his favorite stuffed yeti he has to face all three to get him back. Yeti is a hero!
