Zoe Lake is engaged – even she can’t believe it. Aric Winters, the man of her dreams, has slipped a ring on her finger and asked her to pledge her future to him. She’s ready – kind of. When death and destruction explode – literally – Zoe has a decision to make. Old enemies die hard, and it seems the path to happily ever after winds through Covenant College. Zoe swore she’d never return to the campus that shaped her, but if she wants tomorrow, she has to put yesterday to rest. The trip back to Covenant College is fraught with memories – and danger. Old faces may mean trouble, but they could also offer salvation. Can Zoe destroy the enemies that threaten her future and still embrace the friends of the past? Is Covenant College her beginning, her middle, or her end?
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
I hate to say this, but this book was disappointing, at best. I am a huge fan of Amanda M. Lee, but this book was a chore to read and I knew the ending by the third chapter. It read like a cookie cutter of past work with more then a bit of juvenile, think middle school, snark and sarcasm. The whole "mine" thing was over done and just plain ICK. I had been looking forward this book, but, in all honesty, The ending could not come quick enough. I really enjoy this author's work but this book was just drivel with the snark and sarcasm that missed humorous by mile. I hope this book was an exception and not the new norm. Please find a way to go back too funny instead of juvenile delinquent wanna be, I would recommend fans to skip this book and hope that future books go back to past greatness.
Within a few minutes of arriving at their own engagement party Aric and Zoe's internal danger alarms start ringing; within seconds a huge explosion wreaks havoc on the venue killing 5 guests.
One of the victims is Scott, computer whizz and Zoe's former euchre partner who helped her through the dark days when she split with Aric. Fortunately the security footage was uploaded and when retrieved shows a face from the past, Mark, setting the bomb.
Scott's girlfriend puts her own computer skills to good use to trace Mark, asking only that vengeance be served, right back to Covenant College.
Zoe's devastated and blaming herself for being kind and giving Mark the benefit of the doubt after his previous involvement with the Academy. Mark however has a very different viewpoint, he feels unfairly treated having been imprisoned for a year and then released with only a cursory glance as everyone thought he was far too weak and easily led.. now he's going to show them who has power.
Determined to mete out justice for Scott and find out exactly what is going on with Mark the old gang reunites as Zoe, Aric, Paris and Kelsey return to Covenant College. With help from a surprising ally, their friendly vampire helper Rafael and some entertaining psychological mind games they are ready to turn the tables on Mark and this time there's no backing down.
I honestly don't know how many words can express my feelings about these books and this author. I downloaded the first series of these 5 books on audiobook and when I saw it was 36 hours I was dubious about it. I started on 26 March 2021 and I can quite happily say that every night and every opportunity I have had, I have listened and got completely hooked on the books, the plots and the characters!!! As soon as I started to get engrossed in this, I started researching and found out there was this trilogy (25 hours) which continues when they leave college. That was downloaded as well. All in all there is over 61 hours of fantastic writing from an extremely talented author. I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PART OF IT. There were not any moments of the plot dragging, I didn't get bored once and that is astonishing when you think of 61 hours!!! Do not hesitate for one second to read/listen to these books. They deliver on every single level.
Wow! What an awesome story! With every Covenent book i read they just get better. Amanda M Lee has such an amazing imagination and nack for dragging you into the amazing world she created. Zoe and Arick are still the funny, loving, and argue-ish couple we met in Covenant College, (though they are in their 20's). It was great having the old crew together for this adventure! Kelsey, Paris, Zoe and Arick! I can't wait, yet again, to jump into the next book so off I go!!!!
In Dark Covenant Zoe, Aric, Paris, Kelsey, and Rafael are forced to return to Covenant College after Zoe and Aric's engagement party blew up, literally. What they found was something they never thought they would, someone they thought was a friend was starting up the very thing they destroyed when they left College.
I am enjoying the Living Covenant Trilogy more than I did the Covenant College series, the characters are more grown up. I'm really glad that we can see these characters continue to grow and what they're lives have become after college. So good!!
Five years after graduation, and the gang gets back on campus. Oy vey. It wasn’t planned and it wasn’t fun, but we did get our Kelsey back. Yuss!
The engagement party was a blast. I mean people died. Guess they’re still on someone’s radar.
But, no one really knows how to sneak; they always want some kinda credit for their brilliance. That gets exhausting. Especially when they don’t take the do-over as a new start.
Your editors need to be replaced. I like your stuff, I like your ideas, and am looking forward to reading more. Hopefully minus all the spelling and grammatical errors. I also like the fact I can let my young nieces read these. However, these characters pledging undying love every other sentence is tedious and boring. Seriously. I had to finally start skimming through all that crap. You have a long way to go, but don't give up.
Zoe and Aric's engagement party brings about death and destruction. But, nothing can be more surprising than a return to college. Especially when you are five years older and college life is no longer a thrill. Some one is out to get Zoe and its up to them to find out who. Not surprising its some one from their past, wanting revenge. You can figure it out without having to guess,
Zoe and Aric are engaged and his parents want to throw a engagement party, the party ends in tragedy. Someone set off a bomb trying to kill Zoe. Zoe and Aric are on the Hunt for a killer, it turns up to be someone they thought wasn't a threat but they were very mistaken.
Oh my Goodness!!!! I love these characters (not as much as the Winchester Witches but still) they are not predictable cookie cutter characters. They have quirks and personality. Thus when you get to the last chapters of this book you will be surprised by their actions.
Bit disappointed the second book didn't pick up where the first finished. It made it harder to follow the references they kept making to things that had happened. About to start book three hope it doesn't follow suit. Julezwhite@icloud.com
3 to 3.5 stars, pretty much the same as book one. I am invested in these characters as they are in other series by this author but they are still pretty average books of this type. I do enjoy them so I can't say to much bad about them.
This book is awesome!! It was so entertaining that I didn't want to stop reading! Zoe amazes me every book. I couldn't stop laughing, smiling, and be surprised! A must read!
I really enjoyed this book, it was so much fun to have the whole gang back together again. Zoe, Paris, Kelsey and Aric had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion and I’m looking forward to the next book and the wedding.
Amanda M. Lee did it again. She made me laugh and cry through this books. I love Zoe & Aric's life and the live they shared between themselves and their family and frieds. I highly recommend this series. Although I wish she would not have changed narrators.
The stort of Covenant College continues, and not in a good way. It's a good thing Zoe and Aric are on the job! Great story and characters, some twists, ans overall a good read.
Back to the college to pick up where they left off to some degree. Kelsey, Paris, and Zoe take their college town by storm. And they reunite with a few old friends, and not so much friends.
Book 2 has the crew back at college. Their focus is on a previous classmate/enemy causing problems again. It has humor, sexual innuendo, murder, mystery, lots of magic, and old friends. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed this book, but some of the conversations between Zoe and Aric were repetive. I found the ending anti-climactic, but it was nice to see a glimmer of Zoe and Aric maturing.
If you can get past the 27 year old main character with the maturity level of a spoiled 13 year old and her emo, over-controlling boyfriend, not a bad read.
This book touched my heart so much. So much drama and trauma to the soul. Zoe is one bad girl, but Aric is so fierce where Zoe is concerned. I like the return to Covenant.
