Having overdosed on the cold, unyielding aspects of reality at an early age, books became a welcome escape I was happy to dedicate my life to. Editing romance novels seemed like the perfect career choice for the girl who craved fantasy and a world she could exercise a little control over. Bottom line, I like having a happy ending I can count on. Until...Jensen. Where I prefer to have my head in the clouds, unattached to the tumultuous roller-coaster of real life, his feet are so firmly planted on the ground, they're sinking in and getting buried there. Jensen seems an unlikely hero for any story, let alone mine. He's moody. And confused. And pretty damn sure there's no such thing as happy ever after. But then that's the thing about all the best happy endings. They show up when you least expect them to.
Dog Lover who likes her pastries full of cream and sugar...oh...and I write some ;-)
Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that's the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess - just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name...If I wasn't a writer, I would work on a horse ranch - I'm an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I'm going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate...or coffee...if you bring me both, I'll probably love you forever.
I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children's Lit to Thrillers. I happily reside in sunny Florida (for now) with my daughter and three dogs.
This book deals with a lot more than a simple romance. The characters both have elaborate backstories that make them fastening to watch as they try to negotiate their new relationship. They have both suffered in different ways. The author has done an excellent job of making the characters believable and relatable. Their pasts imbue their present with such emotion, and the author does a good job portraying that. There's both humor and heaviness in this story. The only thing I didn't like about it was all the profanity. The books I grew up reading never or rarely had profanity, so it is always a jarring and bad surprise to come across it in books. In this one, the F-bomb was dropped right on page one, which in itself was nearly enough for me to stop reading, but I read the reviews that said how good this book was, so I stuck with it. It IS a good story, one that hits all the right emotional buttons. I just think it would be better without all the swearing and other crude language.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Wouldn't we all like "One More Chapter" to our story
One More Chapter by K.S. Thomas is the first book that I have read by this author. I was not sure what to expect as you just never know with a "new to you" author. I was quite impressed with her writing style and the way she was able to weave an enjoyable romance story together. The characters have depth and history which makes the telling of their relationship interesting and more believable, as we all bring "stuff" into relationships that has to be sorted out. Additionally the secondary characters were fun and added a lot to the story-line and flushing things out. Be warned that if you don't like some "adult" language mixed in with your romance then you may not like One More Chapter quite as much. But if you can deal with all the emotions and complicated relationships then you will have a great reading experience.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I really enjoyed the book. Unfortunately, it seemed surface level for me. It mentions all this stuff that happens to both MCs, but I didn't feel that heartache that was intended.
I loved how they met and the twist at the end. Kudos for no third act break up.
MCs wife died tragically, but she didn't hear the story from him. She heard it from her brother over the phone, so it felt disconnected. And he heard about her tragic past from her brother, so again, no real sadness or connection to the pain.
MCs house acted as a shrine of his wife, including pictures all over the kitchen. I was expecting maybe a scene of him storing some of the photos to make room for memories with FMC. It was like he wasn't even making an effort to live life outside of his wife memory.
She names their son after "Joey" who was connectioned to her past, but we never found out how or why she would went to him during her trauma daze.
Wow… this book completely caught me off guard! I wasn’t expecting the suspense woven into the story, but it had me hooked. I could not put it down—I kept finding myself saying, “Oh my gosh!” and “I can’t believe this!” as everything started clicking into place.
The beginning started a little slow, but once it picked up, I was all in. Jenson and Karma… just wow. Their connection is seamless, built through heartbreak, love, and loss. And trust me—you’ll need tissues for this one. They truly make the perfect pairing.
This is a must-read! Add it to the very top of your TBR and download it now.
A beautifully well written and narrated romance. I loved these characters and the back story. This book gives you all the feels - sweet, funny, heartbreak and more. This read comes thru as such an honest listen I was completely captivated and highly recommend this to anyone looking for a real romance!

Just.... "WOW." I didn't see the twist in the book at all. It was funny and heartbreaking and touching. I loved this book. Definitely recommended to anyone who likes a sweet romance. Seriously. Read this book.

Two complicated characters, their pasts and a well-developed story make One More Chapter a captivating. It ranges between the hardships of reality to an almost fantastical glow with the way in pulls you in.

Karma Gracey has not had an easy go of life. She loves her job as an editor and doesn't get out much and definitely has no plans for romance. She sometimes is forced to go out with her best friend Layne Larson, a romance writer, but she enjoys her reclusive lifestyle until she meets him.
Jenson Wade is doing the best he can surviving and raising his two kids. He has no plans on moving on from his past until a chance meeting with Karma turns his life upside down. Yet she is the sister of a friend of his, Dallas, who wants Jenson to stay as far away from Karma as possible. Yet he can't do that.
Will Karma and Jenson be able to help each other recover from difficult pasts and find a future together or will the ghosts of the past overtake any chance of happiness for the future?
K.S. Thomas is one of those authors who make me giddy just by knowing that I have a book in my tbr pile. Her writing just blows me away and is just filled with so much honesty, pain and struggles that you feel like you are gasping for air and then at other times she has you laughing so hard at the things she comes up with. This book is definitely worth the read.
When she writes about Jenson's children, Kenzie and Mason you can tell she is a mother who has been through some of these things. I love her describing Kenzie as Houdini and the whole sick episode made me laugh so much as I have been there.
But this book also has so many levels of pain and the things that Karma has gone through breaks your heart into a million pieces as she was never able to put everything back together properly.
This book is about hope and the power of love to heal what is broken.
One More Chapter by K.S. Thomas is a story about the tragedies that change your life forever and shape the person you were and become. This story is emotional and heartwarming all at the same time. My heart went out to the struggle that both Karma and Jensen faced in the aftermath of their personal tragedies as I am sure yours will when reading.
Karma is an indie book editor who has her share of struggles in life. Mostly sticking to her home because she doesn't like crowds or loud noises, her best friend and author forces her to attend a writers panel where she inadvertently bumps into Jensen. Something about Jensen pulls her to him and she seeks him out after he has coffee delivered to her.
Jensen has been closed off to everyone but his family and his best friends, one of who is Karma's baby brother for the last several years. Trying to find his footing in a life he didn't expect to be navigating, he is attracted to Karma in a way he hasn't in the past. But he knows he not good for her and he begs her to walk away. When she refused he tries to but eventually fails.
What comes next is nothing short of inspiring, as Karma and Jensen begin to open up about their pasts and try to forge a relationship together although there are so many hurdles to overcome between them.
You need to read this fantastic story to find out what comes of their ending...and the reveal is one that will make you smile because you hoped your gut was right while reading and it makes the reader happy when it's confirmed!
One more Chapter... is a flawlessly written tale of love and loss. It's brilliant and breathtaking, witty, beautiful, tearful, and profound. A breath of fresh, clean, crisp air.
Author K.S. Thomas exhibits what a lyrical writer she is. She sets a poetic tone with her words, both simplistic in their beauty, yet potent in their delivery. Her writing is REAL and HONEST - every word, every moment, through joy and heartbreak.
One More Chapter will bring your "feels" to the surface with each meaningful phrase upon phrase, becoming deeply engrained in your mind and soul. ~ The true epitome of romance.
Two characters brought together by fate, if you will. Their unique bond will resonate deep in your being, fill your heart to the brim, and make you believe in the resilience of love. I was enamored watching their love story unfold, along with it's irony and original storyline. It spoke to my heart and evoked haunting emotions.
The only way to really understand something is to experience it. Thanks Author K.S. Thomas for allowing me to experience, One More Chapter. It was elegant and inspiring. <3
This book was surprisingly engrossing. That's not to say I expected the book to be bad, I just don't generally get so swept away by a novel so firmly rooted in reality. Contrary to what you might expect, it wasn't 100% predictable either, a refreshing quality in a romantically inclined story. Thomas has a cast of interesting characters and a plot that was almost magical, though there is no actual magic involved, it was more a feeling you get, such as that you might have while reading a fairy tale or epic fantasy. You become completely immersed in the story and forget the world around you, even though it's a mirror of our own reality. I didn't like Jensen much at first but as he developed I liked him more. Overall this would be a great beach read, it's not too heavy that it would emotionally destroy you, but it's not so light as to lack any substance. Definitely for adults, grab a copy and enjoy your holiday weekend!
Wow!!! Another great book by the talented KS Thomas. She sure knows how to write a book. I love all her books but this one is right up at the top of the list.
When Karma was little her dad always teased her about a boy. She told him that she was gonna marry him some day. As years go by she's b come successful in her job as a Editor. She runs into a guy who ends up sending her coffee. Days goes by and she runs into him again. The only thing is he's as broken as she is but she's not sure why. When she finally gets to know Jensen can she get passed her own demons to be with him ? Whatever happened to that boy she liked when she was little?
I got the privilege to Beta read this book and let me tell you that you won't be disappointed
I received this for my honest review. This is the first book I have read by K S Thomas and it absolutely won't be my last, I loved One More Chapter, I fell in love with all the characters and the two main characters were cute and frustrating but you get everything in this heart breaking and sweet story. I teared up more than once while reading this book and then you get other characters that were just as brilliant in different ways they were interesting and adorable and definitely people I wanted to know more about as I got further into it. There is just something so special about this story and it will leave you wanting it to go on just a brilliant read.
