First of all, what a cute cover!! This one was sad as well, not like the previous one, but it follows it's lead. In other words, I've loved it.

Without doubt, Noragami is my current favorite manga series. It hits all the right emotional notes, or in the case of this volume, hits you right in the gut with the emotional tightrope we're treading right now. Hiyori confronts Yato's father, and pays the price as he subsequently wrecks her family's life. It's a rough ride, and I think the after effects will be even more devastating for Yato than Hiyori, but I'll have to wait for the next volume to find out.

Tu no cambias Yaboku.

This deserves many more stars than just 5.
I don't even know what to say about this volume. It was everything.

We get to really see the stuff Hiyori is made of, and it does not disappoint. She is bad-ass.
We also get multi-layered characterization, intense action, and heartrending choices.

Hiyori is growing up. She's trying to discover who she is and what she wants; trying to figure out how to also live up to her family's expectations, including her assumptions about their expectations; trying to be strong with the weight of the heavens on her shoulders.

Yato is growing up. He's trying to reconcile what he wants to be with the reason he was created; trying to break free from his father's will, knowing it could cost him his existence; trying to live up to Yukine and Hiyori's expectations of him while it gets harder and harder to protect them.

This is the best one so far! And I can't wait to continue. In the past few issues we finally get some more information on Yato and his father and on some aspects of being a God. Also, we get some more backstory on Yato which is great.

I really like this manga and the direction it took, I like Yato and Yukine and Hyori and the way the relationships between them evolved. I especially liked how Yato acted in this when faced with quite a difficult situation.

I wanna keep reading this manga until I am up to date, while also not really wanting to get to the point where I have to wait for the next volume to come out. Sigh.

Seriously though, this manga is great!

This one was one of the best ones so far!

It recovered quite well from the last one’s information (slight) overload. I was expecting the story to stumble a bit then recover like other manga series have done, but this one handled it so well! How impressive!

Ahhhh the Yato/Hiyori ship is thriving in this one. I had such a fun time reading this one!

Another serious volume. Lots of story and world-building and drama from characters we care about. Gorgeous art, as always. Some of the best covers of anything coming out.

Thank god Yato didn't kill Hiyori and turn her into his shinki, though it would be interesting if that was what happened. I wonder how Hiyori will cope, even with those words on the last page will she be able to withstand everything?

Hiyori’s troubled by what she’s learned about Shinkis real names - YATO’S DAD CONFRONTS HIYORI ABOUT HIM & TELLS HIM TO LEAVE YATO ALONE WTF. WHEN SHE ASKS WHY HE WON’T FREE YATO, HE ASKS IF SHE’S IN LOVE WITH HIM :O <3 ANYWAY, they part after some more words & he’s going to ‘test; Hiyori - Yato & Yukine go on defence mode for her - but his dad attacks Hiyori’s family’s hospital & the patients go berserk & her mom is hurt - on the roof, Yato fights with his dad but he takes off when Bishamon appears with Kazuma & their crew & Bishamon straight up asks if the sorcerer is Yato’s father; KAzuma’s been investigating - & they team up to fight off the ayakashi - but when they separate, Yato’s dad attacks one of Bishamon’s Shinkis & she coughs up blood :O but he leaves after that - but Hiyori’s mother is still unconscious & when Yato tries to comfort her, she smacks his hand away :O OMG NOOOO and when she hit him, she blighted him, meaning where she’s usually on the boundary between the Near & Far Shores, now she’s leaning toward becoming an ayakashi - & Yato’s dad is thinking he’ll have to sever their ties or her cord to save her - so he goes after her & she attacks him - dad sends advice, saying he should kill her & make her his Shinki - and Yato just embraces her when she attacks again & tells her she can't cross over because she has family waiting for her & people who love her & it's enough for Hiyori to return to normal & it drives her to restore her family's hospital.

4 stars.

I really love this series. I truly think it has become a favorite of mine. I was nervous about seeing Hiyori interact with Yato's dad, now that she knows what he has done to Yato and I was right. It was hard seeing him attack her family's hospital and her parents and watching her go through that spiral of believing that this was her fault. I didn't expect to see her almost turn into a ayakashi. The scene where Yato refuses to kill her and calmly brings her back to herself, telling that this wasn't her fault and her loved ones still love her was beautiful.

It was interesting seeing Yato and Yukine face off with Yato's dad and the Stray for a second. I'm really proud that Yukine can hold his own against the Stray and has gotten stronger. I also like the moment where Bishamon came to investigate the scene and Yato refused to talk about his dad, not to protect him but to protect Bishamon.

That moment at the end when Yato's dad tries to rub it in Hiyori's face what happened at the hospital, and Hiyori firmly saying that her family is fine and she will rebuild the hospital. Hell yeah.

I'm curious if Yato's dad will try to ruin Hiyori even more in the next volume or focus somewhere else.... I also wonder if Bishamon will face off with Yato's dad soon, especially since he blighted her and her shinki.

This volume is grim dark and so very good. There isn’t much I can review without ruining everything so I’ll keep it brief. Hiyori is facing a tough challenge: what she wants to be when she grows up, i.e. it’s time to start choosing schools for her continuing education.
In the meantime, Fujisaki (Yato’s ‘father’) wants her to end her relationship with Yato, believing she’s the reason Yato is trying to change from a God of calamity to a God who brings happiness. He promises Hiyori nothing but pain unless she does what he tells her to and Hiyori’s response is basically “bring it on.”
To her horror, Fujisaki does just that. I’ll leave it with ‘terrible things happen” and Bishamonte, still tracking the god who stole the Word (i.e. Fujisaki), enters the fray, once again not entirely on Yato’s side. This one is going to have long reaching consequences, making you wonder can this story possibly have a happy ending. The art, as ever, is lovely. This is one of my favorite series that I’m currently reading.
