“Killer Me” turned out to be quite an intriguing book. As well as weaving a well-developed tale, the author gives her readers a most interesting heroine with Alice. You come to learn everything about Alice, how she survived the many foster homes she was placed with, her life when she turned eighteen and was kicked out of the system and her life now as a regular girl at twenty-five who works at Home Depot. All Alice wants is to live her life in peace and to be left alone. Considering she has no friends I’d say she’s reached her goals. I don’t know how long a life she’ll live when you take in account the number of cigarettes she smokes each day. There isn’t one time that she’s without a cigarette. The one bright thing in her life is her dog, Bogey, who she absolutely loves. Life is good, which unfortunately is about to change. Innocent women are being slaughtered and the police have no clues as to the killer.
Everything about the killer was quite interesting and because the story is told from not only Alice’s and Murphy’s POV, we also have the enjoyment of reading the killer’s POV. While we did learn a little about Shadow, at the end we’re still left in the dark about a few things like where has he been the last twenty or so years? Was he in jail? Living elsewhere? What has he been doing all these years? Does he have a job? Why didn’t he rescue Alice from the foster homes? Maybe it’s me but I didn’t find Shadow to be very sinister. I think more could’ve been done to show how evil he truly was.
As for Detective Murphy, I went back and forth with his character trying to figure him out. Though “handsome,” with a good career, he’s alone like Alice, divorced from a woman he still loves and goes home to an empty apartment. You almost want them (Murphy and Alice) to get together so they could have some happiness in their lives but the author strays from the usual suspense/romance formulae with the H/h falling in love (which I totally appreciate), which makes for a better and more realistic story. “Killer Me” turned out to be better than I thought. It’s just the abrupt ending I really had a problem with.

Alice has worked hard just to survive. She’s survived the foster system, an insane mother and now surviving living alone. But, when women start showing up dead and a stalker she can’t shake she is soon thrown into the police investigation. Her connection to the killer will make her the perfect bait. Alice will have her biggest challenge to survive. Can she help the police capture this madman or will he make her his next victim?
I enjoyed this book. It was definitely different from Candace Osmond’s previous novels. This will take you on a psychological thrill ride. Putting you through the emotions that Alice must fight and come to terms with. Though their was an ongoing theme connected to Alice in Wonderland there really isn’t much of a connection. Most of the Alice in Wonderland connection was pretty superfluous. It was an interesting addition but it didn’t really have much of an impact on the basic story. Alice is a very strong character that you truly feel for. Her choices are rarely her own. In the end, she makes a choice that could change her forever. If you’re looking for a great psycho thriller you will truly enjoy this book. It will keep you on your toes until the very end.
Alice Teller has a job and a life, but she hates it. But there is a serial killer on the loose. Alice soon sees a stranger that seems to be following her. Then Alice reports witnessing a man disposing the body. Detective Jonathan Murphy is tracking down the killer, and he is sure that Alice is the next person the killer will target. Jonathan and Alice try hard to make sure that she stays alive, but the killer keeps getting close and leaving presents. Alice continues to receive gifts, and thinks he is playing with her mind. As she tries to figure out what he wants from her, Jonathan becomes angrier because the killer keeps getting to close to her. The ending is unpredictable and open, making me hope that we visit Alice again. Killer Me is a psychological thriller that plays with your mind, and I highly recommend it to my friends because I know you'll love it like I did.
I received this ebook from the author for my honest Review.
The writing was good, but it dawdled. I felt like there was no oomph or need to find out what was going to happen because it was all about her. It did not have any sense of urgency and it did not make sense.
I don't know where the pages went, but they didn't go towards anything interesting. The character was either smoking, smoking, smoking, smoking, smoking, smoking, or at work smoking and bitching about Benny.
I did not feel like this was going into the psychology of Alice, or the killer, or the detective, or even Bogey.
The end felt contrived and unrealistic. The characters felt completely flat. There was no attention really given to the crimes or the mystery. It was just words on a page and the words smoke and cigarette I'm sure comes up on every single one of those pages.
I would not recommend this book to anyone else. There is nothing of substance to be able to recommend it.
Serial killer Dad comes back to recruit daughter. Interesting idea right?
I had high hopes reading this book. When I heard it was being written into a screen play, I was thrilled. This is a show/movie I'd watch! The book didn't deliver the roller coaster ride of suspense, thriller and OMG moments I hoped for when reading it. It was predictable, I felt nothing for the characters and I had a hard time finishing it.
I don't want to give the story away because it would do a disservice to the pending small/big screen production. It is a well written book with good incorporation of shout outs to Alice in Wonderland weaved into the story. BUT it's a story I believe will fully come to life on the small/big screen.
An enjoyable thriller that kept me guessing until the end. Alice Teller comes up through the system managing to pull her life together after tragedy in her early life. That is, until her long lost father comes back into the picture. He's the infamous Vancouver Phantom, and he wants Alice to follow in his footsteps. Will she? As I mentioned at the beginning I was guessing what would happen until the end, and it did surprise me. I give it 4 starts instead of 5 since there were multiple spelling/typo errors which took away from the story a bit, but all in all a good read with a interesting plot.
Wow, I really didn’t think this book was going to interest me since I typically read fantasy but wow. This is a great book. There are a few grammatical errors but it doesn’t take away from the masterful story that is woven here. I enjoyed it all the way through the end. I recommend it.
If you are looking for a thriller with a twist this is the one. I really enjoyed this book and its references to Alice and wonderland. It kept me hooked throughout.
It was okay. I liked it but I didn't love it and I have to be completely honest - I read the first half and got really bored - skipped a bunch of chapters and read the last few. I don't feel like I missed anything and the ending was satisfying.
