~ In 1981, Scott Barnes was asked by a member of the Intelligence Support Activity (ISA), a top~secret U.S. government organization (as revealed in TIME Magazine, August 31, 1987) to participate in a mission to investigate reports of live American prisoners of war in Laos. The governmentsanctioned Operation Grand Eagle confirmed and documented the existence of POWs. What follows is an incredible story of one man's attempt to tell the truth despite government interference. Documents, photos, letters, names, dates, places and phone numbers. make this true account as compelling as a fiction spy thriller. A top~secret mission, photographs "destroyed during processing" by the CIA, suspicious deaths, bribery and threats, criminal convictions on false evidence, coverup at the highest levels of government, and official pressure to quiet the media and government agencies add to the mystery. This is not fiction. American fighting men languish in communist prison camps in SE Asia ~ forsaken by the government that sent them there. Imagine Barnes' sobering elation to find Caucasian prisoners speaking American dialogue in a Laotian prison in 1981, to document their presence, and to provide this evidence to the government officials who sent him there. Experience his demoralizing disbelief when he was shown orders to "liquidate the merchandise. " Watch with dismay as the government attempts to discredit his evidence. Operation Grand Eagle was a mission meant to fail! The government denies its cooperation in the undercover mission and publicly disclaims the existence of POWs in Laos. The truth now reaches the American public. Barnes holds the evidence: a Laotian letter, a secret telex code (BOHICA), and names of many key people involved in the mission (many of whom were involved in the Iran/Contra affair) and the subsequent cover~up. Scott Barnes' proof is overpowering and has withstood numerous tests: testimony before a Senate committee and federal courts, psychological evaluations, repeated polygraph tests, and a near fatal dose of truth serum. Scott Barnes maintains there are still U.S. POWs in Laos. Through BOHICA, Scott offers hope to the loved ones of these forgotten men and encourages a public outcry to support their return. Caught in a struggle between sel~fpreservation and humanitarianism, Scott's faith in God and his undying belief that one day these men will be released or accounted for, keeps him at the forefront of the fight. Scott Barnes is a former undercover law officer and is a licensed private investigator. He is a member of the American Security Council Advisory Board and the National Intelligence Study Center. He is an advisor to the Presidential Commission investigating American POW/MIAs in SE Asia.

Fantastic read

Incredible historical story of the Viet Nam war, and those left alone to the enemy. The Regan admin should have been honest.
