I didn't love the whole book. I don't like the message that anyone who wants to succeed at their dream must sacrifice all else - including familial and civic responsibility. The rest of the book, however, gave me loads to think about.

I skim-read this book and have mixed feelings about it - to be fair, it has been out for over 30 years, so it is a bit dated at this point. It has some good nuggets, especially about the value of time and the upside of discomfort. My overall takeaway is that the material may be better motivation if I am skewing toward a depressed state than if I am skewing toward an anxious state. I personally tend to equate "productivity" with self-worth, due to conditioning from family pressures, society "norms", cultural factors, and possibly even the Gen-X era when I grew up. So sometimes I just wanna be accepted (maybe even loved?!) simply for "being" without the onus of needing some grand purpose, lofty ambitions, or great accomplishments. I will probably pick it up and skim through it again at different times to see if it sparks motivation whenever I need it again.

Stating this book is fun to read is an understatement. Phenomenal!

Write down a dream -> Focus on positive energy and aspects -> meditate -> Remind yourself of the dream -> Rewind/rework -> Work on it with a positive mindset -> Envision it -> Complete it -> Nurture yourself consistently through the process -> Emphesize on "enthusiasm and joy" in completing it -> "but" make sure you say NO to comfort! Comfort = no growth.

Part of loving the word but (even though nothing good comes after it) is comfort. Comfortability in where one stands. Do away with it and push to greater heights and lenghts. Take risks. You get one life and its right to make it count.

This was a good book, but I have done a lot of the things I wanted to do. The ones that are left are hard things like traveling abroad, which is not something I can do right now. I know I feel happier when I am working on something, but I just don't know at this point. Maybe my job right now should be to pay off my house and work on retirement savings.

Altes Buch, das ich nach 15 Jahren mal wieder gelesen habe.

Motiviert dazu, sich über seine Ziele klar zu werden und sie umzusetzen. Hilft dabei, Entschlossenheit aufzubauen. Mir jedenfalls.
