Nathaniel Branden was a Canadian–American psychotherapist and writer known for his work in the psychology of self-esteem. A former associate and romantic partner of Ayn Rand, Branden also played a prominent role in the 1960s in promoting Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Rand and Branden split acrimoniously in 1968, after which Branden focused on developing his own psychological theories and modes of therapy.

This program covers the essentials of self-esteem and personal development generally. As a daily meditator and introspection/self-knowledge oriented individual, this program was exceptionally valuable. The chapters cover: living consciously, self-acceptance, not feeling guilty, integrating our past, authenticity, and qualities of a good therapist. All aspects that promote enlightenment, not merely high esteem. The sentence stems in each chapter seem very valuable as exercises of self-awareness. If I complete them substantially I'll report my results in a subsequent edit.

I do condemn the author for his infidelity with Ayn Rand which I found out about after having completed the piece, but the work itself is exceptionally valuable.

Dr. Nathaniel Branden uses characters to highlight how self-esteem works with different personality types. I know people like this and I myself have similarities with some of the characters. Some people may dismiss the characters as overly dramatic and the incidental music is a bit dated but if you get through the program then you will learn about yourself and those around you. This is an intense journey.
