Nikki Wright is desperate to help her brother, Bobby, who hasn’t been the same since escaping from a detainment camp run by terrorists in Colombia. Rumor has it that he betrayed his navy brothers and conspired with those who held him hostage, and both the press and the military are hounding him for answers. All Nikki wants is to shield her brother so he has time to recover and heal.
But soon they realize the paparazzi are the least of their worries. When a group of men try to abduct Nikki and her brother, Bobby insists that Kade Wheaton, another former SEAL, can keep them out of harm’s way. But can Nikki trust Kade? After all, the man who broke her heart eight years ago is anything but safe…
Hiding out in a farmhouse on the Chesapeake Bay, Nikki finds her loyalties—and the remnants of her long-held faith—tested as she and Kade put aside their differences to keep Bobby’s increasingly erratic behavior under wraps. But when Bobby disappears, Nikki will have to trust Kade completely if she wants to uncover the truth about a rumored conspiracy. Nikki’s life—and the fate of the nation—depends on it.
Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
Wow! I was riveted to this story from word one! I started it last night … and finished it last night. No way was I going to sleep until I had reached the end. Between Bobby’s PTSD and the uncertainty surrounding his time with the terrorists in Columbia … and the unresolved romantic tension between Kade & Nikki … and the fact that they were all RUNNING FOR THEIR LIVES, I’m glad I was reading this on my Kindle because I surely would have sustained a paper cut from frantically turning the pages of a hard copy.
The issues raised with Bobby’s time in captivity, his return to American soil, and the struggles he faces after that (running for his life notwithstanding) are written with both authenticity and sensitivity, as well as relevancy to recent news events. How often have I jumped to conclusions about a hot-button news story and let the media be my judge and jury? How little do I think of the families and their reactions, their emotions, the nightmares they are living through while their loved one is brought before the court of public opinion and found guilty? Disillusioned opened my eyes to my own tendencies in this area, and I know it’s something I will be more aware of in the future.
Kade and Nikki? Their past feelings for each other – which are still brewing beneath the surface – combine with their present tension to create a sizzling romantic subplot! It never overpowers the action or the suspense but it blends nicely with it to heighten the drama and keep the heart rate elevated. Like the romance, the faith storyline doesn’t get in the way. It’s there, ever-present and honest, in a natural context that avoids being preachy but is vitally important to Disillusioned.
Bottom Line: A lot of people are disillusioned in Christy Barritt’s latest pulse-pounding suspense novel. Figuring out who and how will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Well-plotted, well-written, and well-done all around, Disillusioned is a must-read for any fans of high-stakes action and romantic suspense. While it revisits some people and places from Dubiosity, Disillusioned reads perfectly fine as a stand-alone novel.

If ever a book deserved to be described as starting with a bang, it would be Disillusioned. This story that begins so breathlessly keeps up the excitement, danger, and suspense throughout, leaving readers more than satisfied. I’m so thrilled to be sharing this exceptional read with you today! Let’s begin with what this heart-pounding novel is all about.
Nikki Wright is determined to do what is right by her brother Bobby, who has only recently escaped from a terrorist group in Columbia after two years of imprisonment. The return home is far from easy and all Nikki wants is to give him time to heal after his ordeal. But danger is afoot as rumours fly boosted by the media that Bobby is working for the terrorists. While the military is waiting to debrief her brother, Nikki is helping him avoid them since the trauma has him unhinged, acting erratically and experiencing memory loss. But soon they realize that the debriefing is the least of their worries, as Nikki and Bobby run into a group of men who try to abduct them. Enter Kade Wheaton, ex-military and Nikki’s former beau. Can Nikki trust the man who wrecked her heart years ago? And is there really an imminent terrorist attack that will threaten the entire nation, or is it all in her brother’s mind?
As a newbie reader to Christy Barritt’s work, I didn’t quite know what to expect. But as soon as I read the back cover, I knew I had to give this novel a try. The author is an undeniably gifted storyteller, proven by her effortless writing style and meticulously plotted suspense. A thrill ride from start to finish, Disillusioned had everything I look for in this genre — believable characters to root for, non-stop action, and clean yet sizzling romance. Nikki is the best of heroines, flawed yet strong, with every emotion she experienced deeply felt. Her past history with ex-husband Pierce added to the complexity of her character, and her struggling faith and the loss of prior aspirations made her all the more human. Kade was just as lovable and a true gentleman, and I appreciated how even though his first instinct was to protect Nikki, he trusted her judgment and guided instead of taking over. Nikki’s touching spiritual journey had me anticipating every moment, right down to the little things that brought her closer to God.
Simply put, I adored this book. If you are looking for an exceptional romantic thriller, I suggest adding Disillusioned to your personal library as soon as possible. I’m looking forward to many, many more late nights spent reading anything and everything from this outstanding author!

The second book in the Cape Thomas series by Christy Barritt. Nikki Wright is caring for her brother who managed to escape from his captures in Columbia. But when she goes to take him home they are attacked and end up on the run. Her brother, Bobby, insists that the only person who can help is Kade Wheaton, a former Navy SEAL and the man that broke Nikki's heart.
New author for me. I really enjoyed the story and the style of writing. It is a Christian book but it's not preachy or anything in-your-face. Just a really nice clean story with hints of faith and belief.
I was expecting to enjoy this novel much more than I did, based on previous books I have read by this author. Admittedly, I have only read a small sampling of her total output, but I definitely remember enjoying ‘Dubiosity’ (whose main characters play a small role in this novel) more than this one.
The action starts from page one, with Nikki and her brother swamped by media as they leave the hospital Bobby has been recovering in. By the end of the chapter, they’re running for their lives, and the action doesn’t really let up until the end. But the whole story was weighed down by incessant telling (often to the point of redundancy), a tendency to explain the characters’ motivations for everything they said and did (again, to the point of redundancy), and a general lack of sophistication in the writing.
The plot was definitely fast paced, but it got a little cluttered by events that seemed to have something to do with the main plot, but turned out to be nothing more than convenient coincidences - convenient because they kept readers guessing and provided more suspenseful scenes. To me it felt more like author contrivance rather than a natural chain of events, especially when a similar tactic was used to artificially inflate the suspense at the end of a few chapters, closing with an ‘oh no!’ moment only to have it revealed as a false alarm in the next sentence or two.
There was also a very obvious example of the author failing to foreshadow something that was instrumental to the resolution. I don’t want to give anything away, and I suspect the omission was deliberate in order to keep the reader wondering how it could possibly work out for the good guys, but I could almost hear Maxwell Smart exclaiming ‘Ah yes! The old *_________* trick’. Again, it felt like a bit of a cheap trick to keep the reader in suspense.
The romance didn’t exactly get off to a good start with me either, with an über-clichéd moment appearing only 10% of the way through the book. I think I actually groaned out loud when I saw what was coming. I like to feel the tension between the romantic leads in their interactions, but in this novel the majority of the romantic tension came via the characters' thoughts: Kade is still attracted to Nikki but constantly reminds himself he gave up any chance to be with her when he left her to protect her and was unable to tell her that’s what he was doing; and Nikki is annoyed that she’s still attracted to Kade even though he obviously never loved her at all. And to be honest, I found a lot of their ruminating pretty clichéd and even tending towards cheesy at times. It just wasn’t what I look for in a romantic plot.
All that being said, I’m sure there will be many readers who will love this book. I was just a bit disillusioned with the way it all came together.
I know, I know. Dreadful pun. But it was kind of hard to resist...

I've been a fan of Ms. Barritt's for several years now and she's one of the few mystery writers that can get me to read her stories. I'm not usually a fan of mysteries, but somehow she's convinced me otherwise with her books! :) It's always the characters that draw me in. As well as the edge-of-your-seat tension going on. I've found that it's usually wiser for me to read her books during the day rather than at night because otherwise I'll never get to sleep. And this one is no exception to that rule! We jump right into the action on page one and things never really slow down.
The characters and their relationships and interactions with one another is where Ms. Barritt's writing shines. Her ability to keep the tension building, while Nikki and Bobby navigate who they are and how life's circumstances have changed their brother-sister relationship, not to mention Kade and Nikki balancing their attraction with their desire to protect themselves from each other and the bad guys, comes together to create just enough edginess to keep you off-balance and turning pages. Learning to trust again, falling in love, protecting those we love, all these emotions came into play, as they do in real life, and I loved it! Forced into situations not of their own making, each of the three have to make choices that aren't easy and sometimes have to think pretty fast. Together, though, they are so much stronger and I loved it when they each began to realize that. We need our friends and family around us when things are hard, so I especially appreciated how Nikki strove to do all she could for her brother. No matter what.
The romance was, of course, a very enjoyable part of the story for me. :) There were several very sweet and tender moments that helped break a bit of the tension (which I appreciated, believe me!). And while there were bits that didn't flow as well for me, I was overall quite happy I read this! Ms. Barritt will definitely remain a mystery writer that will always keep me coming back for more. Which is an excellent accomplishment, if I do say so for myself! :D

I couldn't put this suspenseful book down and finished it at 4 am! It has a quick and steady pace, well-balanced with thrilling action sequences and moments of introspection on the part of both Nikki and Kade. The plot is just complicated enough to make me wonder what's coming next, but not difficult to follow. It made me admire the strength of those who serve in the military and the sacrifices they make to keep our country safe. Nikki and Kade have a romantic history that both regret, but for different reasons. The attraction is still there, and Nikki realizes that Kade is still the rock that he once was in her life, but she has serious trust issues after dealing with an abusive relationship. Her transition back to putting her faith in God was a little abrupt and lacking emotion, but she already had a foundation that she just needed to return to. Fans of Christian romantic suspense will love this book!!!
(Thank you to the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)
Nikki Wright has successfully rescued her brother Bobby from the clutches of Colombian terrorists, but soon finds that's not the end of his trials. Or hers. Not as long as people believe her brother is hiding information, that his amnesia might not be real. And when a kidnapping attempt goes wrong, Bobby contacts the one person he trusts, the one person Nikki doesn't want to see: Kade Wheaton, the man who broke her heart.
Kade is happy to be helping his friend, and happy to be see Nikki again. But not so happy when Bobby starts acting strangely, to the point where even Kade wonders if there might be truth in the rumour that Bobby sold his country out to the Colombians. No matter what Nikki says to the contrary. But Bobby isn't the only problem ...
Disillusioned is Christian romantic suspense at its best, with plenty of suspense, a solid romance, and a very definite Christian theme. No, God doesn't forget us even when we forget about him.
Nikki is my favourite kind of fictional character—intelligent and savvy, but with a vulnerability behind her. And Kade was a great match, protective when he needed to be, but not controlling, and not protective to the point of belittling Nikki's talents.
The writing was excellent, especially the fast pace and the suspense. It was one of those novels you don't want to put down because you want to find out what happens next, but at the same time you suspect that what's coming might be a bit scary or unpleasant, so you want to put the book down.
Recommended for Christian suspense fans.

From the moment I started this book I did not want to put it down. Each and every page had me sitting on the edge of my seat wondering where the story was going to take me next. Disillusioned is full of suspense, twist and turns, nail-biting scenes, adventure and even a little love. Having not read a book by Christy before I was unsure of what to expect. It takes a lot of hard work from the author to get me to really enjoy a thriller and Christy certainly grabbed my attention!
I love thrillers that don't have a predictable ending and I do not feel this one did. In fact, at one point I thought I had it figured out, but different elements came into play drawing me to another direction, only to find out in the end I was right from the beginning. I enjoy finding out the answers as the characters do and I found myself doing just that while reading this. Christy's writing abilities are outstanding. She is descriptive enough to allow me to imagine the scene, but not so much that I am bored and cannot wait to turn the page. She kept the storyline moving at just the right pace which kept me on my toes and never losing interest.
I loved Nikki's character. She was so protective of her brother, and unwilling to let any leads they found make her change her stance on his innocence. I feel if I was in that position I would feel the same. She was a strong woman, although away from her faith. I appreciated Christy's willingness to include Nikki's spiritual troubles and growth throughout such a gripping story. I think it give hope to those of us who are enduring a trial in our life that it is never too late to turn back to the Lord. He's there waiting with open arms.
If you are looking for a good, clean thriller then this book is a must read! Just be prepared to sit and read for long periods of time because you will NOT want to put it down!

Have you ever had a really, really bad couple of days? Or a horrible week? When I think everything in my life is going off track, all I need to do to gain perspective is pick up a romantic suspense. And few are better at building tension in a story than Christy Barritt.
Her latest from Waterfall Press brings readers back to the Chesapeake Bay (and some of the characters from Dubiosity) with a page-turning, heart-pounding ride that kept me up later than I should have allowed it to. In Disillusioned, Nikki Wright is fighting for not only her life but her brothers. And the only man her brother trusts is the man who broke Nikki’s heart eight years ago.
Kade Wheaton’s biggest regret in life is letting Nikki go. He never stopped loving her despite her moving on without him—and rather quickly. Now he’s thrown in a situation where he must protect her, while forced to protect his own heart.
While the race against the clock to find the truth is the driving force behind this story, the heart is in Nikki’s spiritual and emotional journeys. She’s let go of a lot of dreams as well as her faith and now that she’s on the run, she must come to terms with who she is in the eyes of God and in her own estimation.
Another absolute winner from Barritt!
***Waterfall Press provided me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review. All opinions expressed are my own.
A suspenseful ride that I really enjoyed being on. Lots of suspense as Nikki and Kade work to keep Bobby safe and find out the truth to clear his name. But is the truth what they hope it is? I thought I knew who the bad guy was, but then I didn’t, but then I should have. It made for a thrilling read. Full review is at my website.
Usually when I get a new book, no matter how it arrives, whether I picked it up or in the mail, I have such a large To-Read pile that I can't start on it right away. Disillusioned came in the mail, it sat there all morning, it called to me all afternoon, finally by evening I could resist the siren's song no longer. Whoa! Christy Barritt is one of my absolute favorite authors but she really outdid herself in this one! Hard to believe but it was even better than the book before, Dubiosity, which, until now, was my favorite Christy Barritt book. Disillusioned's heart-pumping danger, intrigue, and romance quickly ratcheted up to favorite status in only a few pages. I've not read many political thrillers, and that's more what this story seemed to be, but I was totally hooked by this one. Not a single moment of dry dialogue, Christy Barritt keeps the tension high and the story moving at break-neck speed. Truly, if you love this author or just love edge-of-your-seat stories you totally do not want to miss Disillusioned! No one are as they seem and the villain may not be who you think it is....
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
My first book by the author and it kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. Nikki and her brother Bobby have been betrayed. Bobby suffers from PTSD and mental imbalances after a grueling experience in Columbia with a terrorist organization. But everything is not as it seems. Someone or persons is setting Bobby and Nikki up while simultaneously planning a terrorist attack on the Country. Nikki and Bobby go on the run while trying to uncover the mystery and to stop the killer.
It is fast paced, and action packed. I enjoyed it albeit I figured out the culprit or at least had a feeling who it was before it was finally revealed.
For Nikki a blessing yet it was a mirage, her brother was home. Terrorists had abducted him, throngs of reporters hound them The debriefing the navy wanted, reporters the story The hired car for an escape, now surrounded, what was next. Her brother is once again the Warrior and they are running He scared her, saying they were after him, why, he escaped. A heart wrenching story, she loved him, seemed impossible to help him. He was in a world of his own, the fear radiated off him. A great series, each book was good.
I haven't come across a book by Christy Barritt that doesn't capture my attention. She does a good job at keeping the action moving across the page. The romance isn't cheesy. It actually flows pretty natural. With Barritt's stories, I have come to expect interesting characters with a shady past, high octane tension, and a mystery with depth. With Barritt's latest Disillusioned that is exactly what I received.
From the first chapter, Barritt tosses me into the action with Bob and Nikki running from bullets flying. The rest of the story is a non-stop thrill ride trying to figure out who wants to bring harm to Bob and Nikki. I had a hard time putting the book down. I wanted to read late into the night. The story centers around what is the truth. Either the truth the government and television is allowing to come across the airwaves or is it inside Bob, the ex-soldier who suffers from PTSD. I have read a number of stories that have showed the cause of PTSD, but in Disillusioned, Barritt pushes the envelope a little more and allows me to see what reactions the soldiers have. I really enjoyed this story even thought Barritt touched on a soft story, but I think it needs to be explored.
This original, yet unpredictable story does feature a romance, but it wasn't too hasty. I really enjoy romance stories where the couple had a past together. I liked to learn what made them fall out of love and then watch as they fall back in love in this novel. I believe in second chances and redemption so that is probably why I enjoyed watching Nikki and Kade fight for each other and their emotions.
This is a story that I believe anyone of any age could read. The parts with the affects of the PTSD on Bob would be a good lesson to teach young boys what kind of horror soldiers actually go through to allow us to enjoy the freedoms we have today. Fans of Barritt's other writings will enjoy this novel.
I received a complimentary copy of Disillusioned from Waterfall Press and the opinions stated are all my own.
I have previously enjoyed Christy Barritt’s books so it was an honor to become a member of her influencer team for “Disillusioned”. I’ll admit I did not expect this novel to be the intense page-turner it proved to be. Wow! What a story!
What could be more intriguing than a plot where the protagonists are on the run as they try to prove a recently released military prisoner is not the terrorist he is accused of being. Unfortunately the evidence keeps piling up to prove otherwise and even his sister and best friend find themselves doubting his innocence – at least part of the time. The action barely stops for an occasional breather and the tension keeps rising. Nikki is beginning to lose hope and her trust in God is stretched thin but Kade, the man who hurt her in the past, is the one who now encourages her to return to her faith.
“Disillusioned” is an action-packed thriller that could easily be taken from today’s news. Filled with suspense, danger, as well as numerous twists and surprises, it moves along at a fast clip yet also allows time for a romance to reignite. Strong characters are so real that I found myself right in the story with them. The spiritual content is strong but natural and not invasive.
I consider myself to be fairly open-minded toward others but “Disillusioned” opened my eyes to some of my own prejudices. Like many, I was skeptical when Bowe Bergdahl was returned to the U.S. and suspected that he could actually be a traitor. Now I’m not so sure. Since reading “Disillusioned” I plan to make much needed adjustments to my tendency to judge. It became quite evident during the course of the story that often nothing is as it seems and it is too easy to jump to hasty conclusions.
I thoroughly enjoyed “Disillusioned” and heartily recommend it to those who are suspense fans. I love Christy Barritt’s novels. I just need to find more time to read them all.

Nikki's brother Bobby was captured by ARM, a terrorist group in Colombia, several years ago. He recently escaped and contacted her to bring him back to the states and help him recover and heal before being debriefed by the military. Nikki has done all she can to honor his wishes, especially since he is the only family she has left. When leaving the hospital for a safe house, Nikki and Bobby are kidnapped by unknown people. They manage to escape and Bobby calls an old friend to help them find a safe haven so Bobby can remember what he learned while held hostage. The person he calls is none other than Kade Wheaton, the man who broke Nikki's heart eight years ago. Can Nikki trust Kade to keep them safe and help Bobby uncover the information hidden in his mind? Do the news reports that Bobby defected to ARM and is back in the US to carry out a terrorist attack have truth to them? Who is trustworthy and what is the truth?
Christy drew me in with the engaging and face-paced story line. When a chapter ended, I immediately started on the next. I was eager to know whether Nikki, Kade and Bobby would escape from danger and be able to uncover the truth about ARM and Bobby's involvement with them. There were many twists and turns in the story that kept me guessing about who was trustworthy and who might be part of ARM. It is a contemporary story with themes very relevant to our country's current state. The characters were people I rooted for to survive and succeed in uncovering the truth. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy action, adventure, and espionage stories. I look forward to reading some of Christy's other books as I anticipate them to be just as enrapturing and entertaining as this one.

With a ripped-from-the-headlines feel, adrenaline-laced action, and romantic sparks galore, Disillusioned by Christy Barritt is a sure bet for fans of the romantic suspense genre who want a spiritual component as well. This edge-of-your-seat novel has great characters and a plausible and all too scary-real premise. With terrorists and government agents chasing them, Nikki and Kade are determined to find the truth behind Nikki’s brother’s kidnapping and escape from the Columbian-based ARM. Along the way they encounter friends and foes — it’s just really difficult to figure out which is which. These characters run the gamut from the conspiracy theorist to rogue FBI agent to bookmobile driver and add both fun and fear to the story. For those who love a good romance, Nikki and Kade discover a rekindling of love, complete with lots of sizzle. But past betrayals and disillusionment prove big obstacles to overcome. Disillusioned explores God’s role in our lives — the good as well as the bad. It’s hard to trust Him when you know He can intervene and He seemingly doesn’t. But as Nikki soon finds out [she] desperately missed having God in [her] life, only [she] didn’t realize it. Boy, can I relate! When we finally come back to Him, it’s amazing! Amazing response from God and amazing that we took so long!

Riveting……Suspenseful…..Romantic….. Christy Barritt has done it again! She is one of my favorite authors and just keeps getting better and better. "Disillusioned" had me on the edge of my seat from page 1. My heart was racing from all of the action and suspense. In addition, the content is pertinent to some of the issues we face in today’s world. I love the way Christy weaves a story intertwined with God’s Truth and down-to-earth characters that we can all identify with. In "Disillusioned", she brings in the struggle with one character’s faith. Niki has lost all hope and no longer feels the love of God that she had grown up knowing. Now she is in the midst of a crisis which brings her face to face with her unbelief of recent years. “Sunlight streamed in through the windows, promising...hope. What a joke. Hope wasn't even on the horizon, only survival.” I highly recommend this book. You will be encouraged and entertained and challenged. One thing is for sure. There is always hope!

Christy Barritt’s Disillusioned is a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat read that will have you looking over your shoulder for your own conspiracy theories. Nikki Wright, the story’s heroine, is putting her safety, her life, and her heart on the line to protect her brother, Bobby. Bobby is a troubled escapee from a terrorist-run detainee camp in Columbia, with a myriad of problems that keep you guessing if he’s really one of the good guys. From the very start of the book, Christy keeps your blood pumping with constant action, twists, turns, and a heavy dose of chemistry and regret between Nikki and ex-boyfriend-turned-only-hope Kade Wheaton. Disillusioned takes you on an enjoyable ride as Nikki seeks the truth, not only about her brother, but also in her relationship with God. Disillusioned has the perfect balance of suspense, romance, and spirituality that we have come to expect from Christy Barritt. This book is a must-read. Be prepared to willingly shirk all of your responsibilities because you won’t be able to put this book down. *I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.*
Nikki is glad her soldier brother has been found alive and rescued from South America, but he comes home a very different person. At first, she is sure he isn't a traitor to the US as some believe, but even Nikki begins to have her doubts as she observes his increasingly odd, and even violent, behavior. As Nikki tries to help her brother and to prove his innocence, she doesn't know who to believe or who to trust. Thwarted at every turn, she has no choice to trust Kade Wheaton, someone from her past that personally betrayed her once before. As Nikki and Kade hide out in a small town on the Chesapeake Bay and try to find out the truth, her brother disappears, making him look even more guilty. Another great tale of suspense from author Christy Barritt! I read this book while camping in the mountains in Maine. Without electricity there, I ended up sitting up late at night at the picnic table with a propane lantern to read! I couldn't wait to see what came next and finished it in just a couple of days! I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was captivating from page one! Christy Barritt draws you right into the story and never lets you go. It is a continual surge of adrenaline going through you as you read! I had a hard time putting it down to go to sleep. I finished it up the next day even missing out on my World Series Team The Royals beginning of their game to finish the book because I just couldn't put it down! I'm a true Royals fan too so that says a lot! I applaud Christy for also addressing some real life hard issues like PTSD and spousal abuse and domestic violence. It really does occur and she addressed it in a true to life manner with how the victims feel and that it doesn't have to continue. There is help. Don't worry I'm not spoiling anything. Overall, the book was her best book yet in my opinion. Kudos to her for a great romantic suspense that was absolutely riveting. (I received a free Kindle copy of this book in return for my honest review.)
Would you put your very life at risk to uncover the truth to prove someone you love dearly is innocent? Nikki Wright is in way over her head with the situation she has found herself in. She needs some big guns to help her, some one from her past, Kade Wheaton the man responsible for breaking her heart by walking away from her and their future together. Kade is willing to risk it all for Nikki, he believes her brother Bobby, that he is being set up, it will take all their detective skills and thinking on their feet to outwit, outsmart all the collective federal agencies trying to haul them into custody.
A heart pounding, roller coaster of a suspense novel by the talented Christy Barritt, Disillusioned, is fast paced, twists and turns. Everything a well thought out suspense novel should have, with more surprises for readers to ferret out.
I received a free copy of the book in exchanged for an honest review.
Wow!! Suspense, non stop, heart stopping suspense as Nikki Wright and Kade Wheaton race to prove Nikki's brother Bobby innocent of treason and terrorism. I loved the action, the storyline, and the romance . The characters leaped off the pages and spoke to you. Nikki over the years has lost her faith in God but this race is an eye opener for her. Nikki says" For so long I've viewed God that takes away things in my life, lately I've been reminded of what he brings to my life, things like peace, faith and hope. I'd forgotten what it was like to be comforted by God's assurances. I desperately missed having God in my life, only I didn't realize it." " He can get us through the darkest times..." I look forward to Christy's next book. A copy of the book was given in exchange for an honest review.
Disillusioned was a very suspenseful book that kept me guessing until the end. Just about the time I thought I had something figured out, it would either turn out to be something else, or right with a twist. I really enjoy that about the author's books and it keeps me waiting for more. I also liked how it addressed how some of the people who come back from the military need help and that there are many different ways to address that. In the book Nikki has to do all she can to keep her bother safe, as well as help him to overcome some of the issues he has had since coming back from Columbia. She is not sure who exactly she can trust, but her brother feels like they can trust Kade, who is a former SEAL.
