In the year 3030 an alien race named the Thrakorian’s invaded Earth, and won.
Years later, and while King Kronus sits on his throne on high for all to adore and worship, or else refuse and perish, rebels have risen up to challenge his reign. They need to be stopped, and yet, he doesn’t seem to care. He isn’t interested in the planet he’s left his underlings to command, however the entire human race continues to serve him blindly.
And yet, there are huge discrepancies the likes of which most humans didn’t care to see. But she saw them. Kyra Millan, probably the most devoted human soldier in Kronus’ cause, but also the one with the most amount of questions.
Despite everything she’s done and the ladders she’s climbed, or the friends in high places she has made along the way, Kyra has begun to see through the lies.

In one awful meeting, Kronus made her life’s work seem like nothing more than a waste of her time and talents, and then he’d sent her away without another word of explanation.
But, Kyra knew she would continue to serve him, for what else did she have without her unwavering loyalty to Kronus and his reign?
Now, she has to find a way to balance what she knows and how she feels, however neither he nor any others of his kind seem willing to make it easy on her. Kyra still yearns for her leader’s approval and to keep her place within his regime, so much so she’s determined to fight him on the issue—even if she has to break every rule in the book to prove herself right.
With the hope she can get away with defying her alien overlord one more time, she’s determined to try and infiltrate the rebels opposing him, whether he wants her to or not.
But there’s something Kyra isn’t prepared for. Because when you get in too deep, sometimes it’s hard to remember what’s real and what’s fake anymore…

Following on from Kyra’s whirlwind story in Humankind I couldn’t wait to see her develop even more. We already know that Kyra is a strong willed, determined young woman that works hard to get where she wants to be in life – but now she needs to figure out where she wants to be. Her desire for truth set her on a new path, but is it one she wants to follow? New twists and turns in Kyra’s story will keep you guessing which way she will turn and leave you pleading to know more. A light, easy going read, which refuses to be put down – trust me I actually couldn’t put the book down, despite my need for sleep. The story flows with ease and the characters have you second guessing yourself with your expectations. Love it, cannot wait for the next book

fantastic read, humankind is one of my most favourite reads, and this is a great follow up and it's not all over yet! another good mixture of events which kept me on the edge of my seat, there were enough questions answered for my liking but, I'm left with enough curiosity to see what the next part of the story brings. can't wait

Following directly on from the events in Humankind, Kyra has been left in turmoil by the rejection from the king. The King she had put on a pedestal since she was a child. His dismissal of her and his command for her to return to the mundane work of the tower disastrously backfires when she chooses instead to defy him and return to her undercover life. Lines blur and Kyra loses sight of where she ends and Kiki begins. Going deeper into the depths of the rebel stronghold, learning their stories and discovering painful truths about those sent to save humanity from themselves. Is Kyra able to find herself again and can she place her loyalties so completely in the Thrakonians with the doubts Tuka has placed there?

Worlds collide and faced with a split second act of selflessness Kyra inadvertently propels herself into a life she has only dreamed of and an opportunity to discover the true reason behind invasion day, can her code breaking mind solve the mystery of the last 20 years behind Thrakonian Rule?

As with book one this story continues to turn itself on it's head, the first half is fast paced, intense and culminates in one of the biggest "OMG did that just happen" moments that I have had in a book for a very long time. The second part for the most is at a more relaxed pace, which i think was needed. It brings a softer side to the world of the Thrakonians, an almost human side and a glimpse into the loneliness of the King, despite his island playground. Poor Kyra does go through the wringer a lot, but her modifications at the hands of Greegis are her salvation in a physical sense however LC Morgan's ability to convey the emotional turmoil of Kyra's double life and divided loyalties is utterly captivating and page turning. It's only fitting that the pace of the book allows us to recover at the same pace as it's characters. I very much enjoyed that on several occasions throughout you were being skilfully guided to a certain conclusion which was then ripped away and replaced with another diversion all leading into a cataclysmic finale. Kyra remains a force of nature and despite everything she has been through she retains an admirable self respect when it comes to her treatment at the hands of others.

When I read Humankind, I knew that Autonomy was released already and could move straight on. Whilst Autonomy concludes with the end of a chapter in Kyra's life it also manages to be quite a cliffhanger about what happens next, and I am definitely excited for the release of book 3. Please don't make me wait too long LC Morgans!

Autonomy (book 2 in the invasion day series)
By Laura Morgan

This is A young adult book I would say is suitable from the ages of 14 upwards. As this is the second book you really will need to read book 1 in order to understand what is going on properly.
So after the epic cliff hanger and sore throat that book 1 left me with I was sure glad to get my hands on book 2. It starts off right where book 1 left you hanging over mount everest and it was most definitely worth the wait!
This book is the perfect follow on from book 1 I don't know how many nice things you can say about an authors work but I honestly cannot say enough great things about this author.
The story line continues to flow beatifully and feels like you never left the world of future earth and Thrakorian’s. There are more twists in this book than spaghetti junction and it keeps you hooked! You just want to read and read and read until there is nothing left to read, which is exactly what I did. I devoured this book in a single sitting.
The descriptive language continues to leave nothing to your imagination other than painting out the words in your head as you see them in front of you. This isn't a story you read but you see, it plays out if front of you with each sentace that you read through and you won't regret a single moment of the time you took to read this amazing story.
Kyra continues to be a full on powerfully strong willed female who is determined to discover the truth of just what is going on. There are the welcome additions of new characters aswell learning more about characters touched upon in the first book. All are welcome parts of the story and lots of things suddenly make sense! Don't be fooled though the plot twists keep coming but you won't see them until they slap you full force in the face. I'm not giving anything about the story line away as it needs to be enjoyed word for word by you as a reader and the author deserves for you to enjoy it.
Laura Morgan has an exceptional talent and for those over 18 reading this book I urge you to seek out her other work!
I rate this story 5 absolute stars! !!

Since finished the first book in the Invasion Day series earlier this year and falling head over heels in my first Sci-Fi read, I couldn't actually wait to get my hands on this.

The continued story or Kyra and her meeting with King Kronus (the leader of the invasion on earth more than 20 years ago) and his poor treatment of her.

Excerpt:
Despite being a strong-willed and intelligent woman, Kyra felt weak after Kronus' harsh words and as though her determination to succeed and serve had truly been broken.

But despite his cold exterior, the leader did infact feel for Kyra Milan. Even if she was the first person he even showed kindness to.

Excerpt:
You...infect me. I feel warm and worthy in your presence, like I'm ready to take the world from your tiny shoulders and carry that burden as my own, but also as if I failed you profoundly by even letting it weigh so heavily on in the first place...

With rebel fighters leading Kyra on a mission which would open her eyes to those she had worked tirelessly for and respected...would she go rogue?

Excerpt:
She needed to work harder, and push herself more. There was nothing else for it. Kyra knew she had to go deeper into her cover, even if she had to lose more of her real self in the process.

The love triangle that is created keeps you on your toes and the immense danger that humans face in order to save the Thraks back on their planet would be one of the toughest things Kyra has ever had to face in all her military training. But the woman we have grown to know and love does not let us down.

As I said on the first book of this series (Humankind), this isn't a genre I would have necessarily said I would pick up but this series has blown me away and I wound t hesitate at reading more. It had me gripped, ugly crying and screaming at my kindle at many parts of the story and for me was an incredible second instalment. So many avenues for the book to go next!

Final excerpt:
Kyra felt ashamed of the person she'd become because of King Kronus and his army of cowards, and she hated how he sacrifices had all been under appreciated in the end.

So I loved book 1, Humankind and I couldn’t wait to read this book. I needed to know what was going to happen.
We are back with Kyra seeing what her life is like. We have some very unexpected things happen throughout the book and I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next.
King Kronus isn’t interested in Earth, him and his people are on Earth for one reason and once they have found what they were after they will be leaving Earth behind and everyone on it, including Kyra.
I am in love with this book, I enjoyed book 1 but I just wanted more about the Thrakorian’s and in this book we definitely get it.
You can’t help but love Kyra, she has worked hard all her life to get where she is. Never using her first meeting with the King on Invasion Day to get ahead of anyone else. The only thing that annoyed me about Kyra was how flippant she was with her feelings, one minute she loved Kronus, then hated him. The next minute she love Thrakye then she hated him.
She’s smart, like really smart and stands up for what she believes in.
I love Thrakye, I think he is perfect for Kyra. Kronus was a bit of a idiot throughout the book and I wanted to slap him a few times.
We have a very brief scene with Lord Greegis, that alien-man gives me the chills while reading the book.
I love love loved this book and can’t wait for more in the series. This book ended on such a big cliffhanger, I kind of felt lost when it ended.
I’m patiently waiting for book 3!!!

The story flowed magically right from the beginning. I loved all the characters and found myself arguing both sides of the main male characters. Head vs heart. Love vs hate. What an amazing end that leaves you still wanting for so much more....the characters completely submerge you and you find yourself willing for various outcomes. Another great book that I highly recommend by such a fantastic author.

I was so pleased when the eagerly anticipated Book 2 of the Invasion series came out. It did't disappoint, and so was finished the same day. It follows on neatly from Book 1 and as ever leaves you wanting the next installment. Will Kyra get the answers she seeks, and ultimately her happy ending?

Finally meeting King Kronus, the crush she's had ever since he saved her as a child, Kyra is thrown into a whirlpool of feelings and torn between her lover Thrayke, and the King, who seemingly, with a few harsh words, renders all her discoveries and hard work null and void. To get the intelligence they need to thwart the rebels, Kyra would need to go against the King's and Thrayke's explicit wishes; soon she has problems differentiating between friend and foe while she continues to discover new things about the invaders.
Again, very well writtern, and despite their not being, at least for me, open plot for this second book in the series, it did not prevent me from enjoying to read this book. The what I think proper plot, what really is behind the aliens' invasion to Earth, begins to thicken. Again though, this is mostly narrated from Kyra's point of view, and occasionally I was not sure if I liked her as the female protagonist, of if she was just a whiny opportunist trying to justify her actions. As I said: good storytelling.
Alas: the spelling has not improved at all from the first book, and I fear won't either in the future. This is something a reader will just have to suffer through, methinks.

Very nice !!!!

I usually only review a series at the end. I miss full books. I also only review books I really like. Being disabled I read a lot. Lots of series never make it past book 2. I didn't get tired of this series and am looking forward to the rest, whoopie. The story and all its inhabitants are well thought out and easy to bond with. OK let's finish this. I hoping for 5 stars and doing another review.

Couldn't wait to start reading this book after reading Humankind, the first book in the series. This book was just as gripping as the first. We learnt more about the main character, Kyra, as she continues to learn more about the Thrakorians. I have completely fallen in love with Thrayke and cannot wait to see what is in store for him in the third book! I certainly recommend this book, but read the first book before this one, so you know the story so far.
