Highly Recommended For Kids Learning To Use The Internet

“It was Christmas morning and eight-year-old Eric was excited! He knew that this year he would be getting big boy presents…no more teddy bears and wooden blocks. He looked over the pile of presents that were under the tree, and noticed some with his name.”

Eric just got his very first tablet and asks his big sister, Kelly how to use it. Just as Eric is about to go on the internet, Kelly teaches him how to be an internet detective by using a magical magnifying glass to show Eric that things are not always as they seem and how to be aware of internet dangers.

Sadly, I’ve talked to many parents who struggle to teach their children about the dangers concerning the internet. It is a remarkable tool and yet one has to be cautious in all they do. Parents need no longer struggle, as Marcus’ book is the perfect find to teach young ones just starting to use the internet. Cleverly written, perfect for Christmas, as that is when kids may get their first tablet or computer. I really loved how it was big sister Kelly, who taught her younger brother and in such a wonderful way. I know I would like a magical magnifying glass! The story is exceptional and unique. I have been a long time fan of Marcus’ books and I have to say this is by far my favorite. The illustrations are so bold and colorful, allowing the message to leap off the pages. This is the perfect gift for kids to go along with any first-time computer. Excellently written, beautifully illustrated and timely message. Highly recommended must have for kids learning to use the internet.
Well done.

Why aren't there more educational books out there like The Cyber Spying Glass to helps us parents teach our kids about the importance of internet safety? Luckily, I found this real gem of a book, and I'm ever so grateful. Internet safety is, undoubtedly, one heck of a tricky subject to discuss with children... So, how exactly does a parent go about teaching kids about online safety and virtual "stranger danger?" I mean, come on, it's hard enough as it is trying to figure out how to explain to kids who they should be wary of and who they can approach IN REAL LIFE. But, in an online world where we can't even SEE who's out there in "Internetland"...where do we even start??? The truth is, that in this day and age, with the virtually illimited vastness of the internet it just makes keeping our kids safe all that much harder to accomplish. What's a parent to do?

Well, I found The Cyber Spying Glass to be a great tool to use. Yes, it's a book, but I really do consider its information to be more of a tool than just a pretty picture book. When big sister Kelly helps her 8-year-old little brother Eric better understand the potential dangers of the internet, it struck a chord within me as a parent. I thought, Hey! I have a 9-year-old! And suddenly I realized that all those Parental Controls on the laptops weren't enough anymore and that I needed to actually explain, as Kelly did to Eric, about the very real, very scary truth about the internet.

We live in a world where it seems as though we cannot live without the Internet. We Google everything. And why not? When I can get whatever information I want within seconds? Yes, without a doubt, the Internet can be a wonderful resource for people, and that includes kids. School project? Not a problem! With just a few taps of a keyboard, Google speaketh. That's the beauty of the internet.

There is, however, and unfortunately, an ugly part...

I feel that The Cyber Spying Glass fills a void in children's books. One where parents and guardians need to take on a more active role in protecting their children from Internet predators AND bringing up the importance of online privacy with children. Yes, the pictures in the book are lovely, and yes, the story is well written (and very clever!), but what I love most about this story is the overall message. And the message is clear: it is vital to teach kids about internet safety.

It’s Christmas and Eric was excited to receive his gifts from his parents. He was kind of expecting toys again this year, but lo and behold! He was surprised to get a brand new tablet under the Christmas tree! He then asked his older sister Kelly to help him with his new gadget, but Kelly got something else up in her sleeves.

Instead of just teaching him how to use it, Kelly got Eric a spy kit (a detective hat and magnifying glass) and together they investigated what really went in and out of the internet, through chat rooms and social media.

This book has moved me. I hate to admit it, but when I bought mini-tablets for my kids, I didn’t tell them about the dos and donts of Internet. For all I knew, they were already familiar with the sites they occasionally accessed. A few months later, I heard news about kidnapping in some places because unguided children gave out personal info to the world wide web. I was astounded by this realization so I soon put parental controls on their browser.

This book is really informative and important for parents to read too. It tells us to be more observant and vigilant with tablets and other forms of gadgets that can connect to the Internet to protect our kids from harm. I am thankful to A. M. Marcus because his books not only aims to entertain kids and adults alike, he also wants us to learn something from the stories. Truly this has been a perfect and meaningful Christmas gift for all of us!

This is a modern book for modern children. I really appreciate that something like this book exists! Tablets are a common thing nowadays. Every kid has to have one, including mine! He has had a tablet for over a year and as a parent, it's sometimes hard to keep track of all his internet activity, although most of the time he's just playing games. You can't ever predict what they could have access to and it's very important to teach them internet safety! When trying to explain it to them...it's hard to make them understand and this book definitely helped me and will probably help many parents get this valuable message across to other children. Thank you!

Children's books may teach lessons about right and wrong, but we are a generation that is advancing faster than law enforcement can catch up to. This book is a great way to explain to kids about the safety of the internet. It provides valuable information on protecting your identity and not believing everything that people state about themselves. It is a great story with vital information that can save a child's life from the internet stalkers that exist in the world today. Nicely put and a must read!

I think this book is a fantastic way to introduce children to the possible stranger danger on the Internet. It's a fun book that explains being on the internet in a safe and easy-to-understand way. I highly recommend this book to all parents. I especially recommend that, if you are getting a child a tablet this Christmas, to go ahead and put this ebook on there for them.
