OMG! I love this yaoi manga so freaking much! 😍 the art work is amazing and the story line is truly enticing. 💙 Ryou having struggle with helping Qaltaqa adjusting the life in Japan is just so adorable and funny. 😁 And ah, how sweet and charming that big Lutah tribe man is! Loved it!!! I seriously thought they were not going to get a HEA but yup, they did end up getting their happily ever after. 😊 And a very sweet and merry one! 😍 Just a light, fun and lovely treat after a heavy read. 👏

Sometimes going into a story blind is pleasantly surprising; Mother’s Spirit ended up being a gorgeously illustrated manga I couldn’t help falling in love with.
~★~ What is this manga about? ~★~
Mother’s Spirit is a rom-com following university student Ryouichirou. When the chairman of his school unexpectedly asks him to look after Qaltaqa, a native exchange student unfamiliar with Japan, Ryouichiro is hesitant to accept. Eventually he agrees, and strikes up an unlikely bond with Qaltaqa while teaching him about his country’s customs.

Despite being an adult manga, Mother’s Spirit was for the most part quite heartwarming and sweet. I adored the daily endeavours between Ryouichirou and Qaltaqa, especially as they fought to overcome their vast cultural differences to better understand one another. Both protagonists made me smile throughout the story; it was wonderful to see their romance develop free of any outside drama. A lot of mangas I’ve read tend to be cliche or trope heavy, but surprisingly enough, this one really wasn’t. I loved it!
The artistic element was another major standout for me; from the start I was struck by how gorgeous Enzou’s illustrations were. Both Ryouichirou and Qaltaqa had really striking and beautiful character designs that kept me marvelling at the artwork all the way through.
This was a completely lovely story with beautiful characters, I’m so glad to have read it. It puts both the "rom" and "com" in romcom as promised, maintaining a perfect balance of humour and heart. If you’re a fan of adult manga, this is for sure one you’ll want to try out.

I hesitated a bit with buying this because I wasn't too sure about the "uncultured savage learns about culture from civilized people" bit of the plot, but really, this was a very sweet story with absolutely gorgeous art. There were some incredibly romantic and breathtaking scenes in this mange that left me stunned. Still doesn't change the plot thing.. but I was able to overlook it and just enjoy it.

Wow, this kind of diversity is growing on me. Tribe tops are the best!! I love this one so much! Just the right amount of hilarity, sweetness, wholesomeness, and spice. I love it so much!!

Qaltaqa comes to Japan as an exchange student, and Ryouichirou basically gets voluntold to be his guide/babysitter. But Qaltaqa isn’t just here for sightseeing, he’s literally doing this for his people. Like, he's going to be chief of his village soon and he's trying to understand modern culture so he can help his community thrive. And he’s doing all of that while looking like an absolute god. The long hair?? The smile?? The quiet strength?? THIS MAN IS PERFECTION!!!
The way they slowly learn from each other, not just language-wise but culturally and emotionally too, made me soft. It’s one of those “we come from different worlds but we just get each other” dynamics and I ate it up. Qaltaqa picking up Japanese so fast, working hard for something bigger than himself, being respectful and patient and kind, how could you not fall in love with him?! Ryouichirou definitely didn’t stand a chance.
And what I really love about them is the mutual respect. Like, real actual communication, being vulnerable, no toxic “I’ll push you away because feelings are scary” drama—just two people figuring things out with care. It’s not just “he’s hot,” it’s “he sees me.”
Honestly, it’s not even about the romance only. It’s about the connection. The softness. The way they let themselves care. No drama, no unnecessary angst, just tenderness that slowly blooms. This couple was really beautiful and I will read the second volume right away!!

Muero de amor con estos dos! Ains...
He disfrutado muchísimo de esta historia, me ha parecido amena, divertida y sobre todo muy, pero que muy tierna. La pena es que me ha sabido a poco, no me hubiese importado que tuviese el doble de páginas o incluso un segundo tomo, eso habría sido maravilloso. Me ha gustado ver el tema de la diversidad, de que al final por muy distintas que puedan ser nuestras costumbres o idioma, todos podemos entendernos a un nivel mucho más profundo del que pensamos, al fin y al cabo, todos somos iguales, solo se trata de ponerse un poco en el sitio de los demás. Asimismo, me ha gustado la naturalidad con la que Qaltaqa actúa, hace lo que siente sin más, no duda en besar, abrazar y decir lo que siente sin miedo alguno, sin esos prejuicios estúpidos que tiene muchas veces esta sociedad. Y me encanta también esa forma de pensar de Qaltaqa, de no querer que el ser humano pierda el contacto con la naturaleza, con sus raíces, con su esencia, sin que ello sea incompatible con el hecho de progresar y avanzar. Los dos protagonistas son fantásticos, dulces, entrañables y muy románticos. Enamorada me he quedado!

Wow, another BL that goes straight to my 2020 favorites!
Ryouichirou and Qaltaqa meet because the latter is an exchanged student and Ryou is assigned by the university to support him in anything he needs. He wants to learn about Japan and its culture in order to help his village and the people living there, since he’s about to become the next chief.
They come from different places so looking at them learning about their own cultures is wonderful to watch. Qaltaqa comes from a small village but he’s gorgeous, kind and quite smart if you ask me. He learns Japanese in no time, thus he’s able to communicate with Ryouichirou and other people, all for the sake of his village.
These small different ways of seeing life (and love) are probably the reason they start to fall for each other. Qaltaqa is not only beautiful on the outside but his soul is breath-taking too. Honestly, anyone would fall for him but what made me love this couple the most is that they communicate, they complement each other and allowing yourself to feel love for someone, without caring about barriers, always warms my heart.
I cried in a few, touching scenes and I wished I had listened to the CD DRAMA but I found about it too late. Still, I’ll be sure to listen to it because I can’t wait to listen to Qaltaqa’s language.
I would totally recommend you to try both formats and to give this one a chance! I guarantee you, you’ll love it as much as I did.

For a single volume though the author really tried not to make it insta love so this would really have been perfect if this was 3 volumes or something (yeah, im biased cause that art is just so gorgeousssss) also also also they glossed over the fish out of water moments. The seme would have been adorable.
The sex scene of course doesnt have any mention whatsoever of lube cause the uke was supposedly straight so he doesnt have the stuff but i mean, at least the seme showed facial expression

Nothing deep or memorable. Just a fun read with sexy drawings. I do like it. It's rare for Yaoi manga to have consensual sex especially first-time sex. Not that I dislike those smutty rapey ones *evil glint*
I am giving this a 3.5 stars.

Hacía mucho tiempo que los Yaoi no me hacían sentir tanta ternura y risas como este. Al ser tomo único es una compra que recomendaré siempre que se quiera leer una buena historia con pizcas de risas, erotismo y mucha mucha ternura.

I loved everything about this manga. When it comes to yaoi manga you find a lot of tropes that are overdone or that wind up taking over the story, but not with this one. If there's a case of jealousy it's really subtle and it doesn't dominate the storyline, for example. It really focuses on the relationship between the two main characters, and how they develop and continue to grow. And we even get bonus stuff at the end! You can feel the romance growing between and it's quaint and sweet and I love that. We do get our smut which is always a pleasure, and I was definitely happy to see it mixed in with such a fun and lovely storyline. The artwork is so beautiful as well.

4.5 estrellas. Me habría gustado que fuera más largo; o sea 6 capítulos, solo 6 capítulos de este fantástico manga!!!! Necesito más. Definitivamente.
Y qué decir del dibujo: hermoso, absolutamente hermoso. Su hubiera sido un manhwa estaría coloreado y sería muchísimo má espectacular, pero en fin.
Y mención especial a Qaltaqa. Es el seme más guapo que he tenido el placer de ver y leer; pero no solo eso si que también es inteligente, aplicado, y se sacrifica por el bien de su pueblo.
Una lectura redonda que no me esperaba para nada ^^

Después de leerme call me...decidí leer un manga para una lectura más light, me ha encantado. Quería esperar a tener el manga en físico para descubrir la historia. Ha sido muy emotiva, como a pesar de las barreras del idioma lograron crear un vínculo tan especial, la escena de "pronunciar el nombre" y de "entregar el alma" me han encantado y conmovido casi hasta las lágrimas. Una joyita en los mangas BL's estoy feliz que ediciones tomodomo se animara a lanzarla en español porque vale muchísimo la pena. Directo a mis favoritos.

Fue hermoso. La relación y convivencia de los personajes era sencillamente hermoso, es cómo cuando ves a una pareja que debe estar junta y tu inmediatamente sabes que no deben separarse.
La autora sabe manejar muy bien el hecho que ambos son de distintas naciones y unirlos poco a poco, todos muy tierno.
El dibujo ¡Lo mejor que he visto en un manga Yaoi! amo a la autora, seguire buscando trabajos de esta.

Ein Manga mit Yaoi Elementen, der mal wieder überzeugt. Obwohl wir hier jemanden aus einem Naturstamm haben, der die moderne Welt kennen lernt, wird er nicht als zu naiv dargestellt und die Personen verhalten sich erwachsen und haben Kommunikationsprobleme, die eher auf Kulturdifferenzen und Sprachbarrieren basieren. Die Sex szene war gut, aber nicht zu viel. Gute Mischung von allem, und der Zeichenstil ist auch sehr gut.

Me ha encantado este manga. Es divertido y la relación de ambos personajes me gusta. Y el final fue hermoso. Una de las cosa que me gustaron fue la naturalidad en que aceptaron la relación entre estos dos chicos así como el hecho de que fue un amor que se dio de una forma natural sin forzar a la otra persona. Me encanto esto y lo disfrute mucho.

The art is gorgeous, both men are very manly. The story may be a bit silly, but it was cute. I like the language barrier and how they get closer. The ending was a bit "uhm" since I didn't find realistic that the uke abandons his life to go and live as a married couple in the seme's tribe.
