Alien Prince's Bride

Rate this book
When a princess is at stake, no challenge is too hard for the right kind of prince...

Violet is a calaya, one of the most beautiful and most sought after prizes of the Atreens. And that is exactly what she has been raised to be - a bauble to be claimed. But Violet doesn't want to just be a mantelpiece for a great warrior who wins her hand in a galactic gladiator tournament - she wants to make her own choices. Or so she discovers when her heart and destiny clash and she can only choose one to follow. With the charming and feared Raider Prince on one hand and a roguish guard on the other, her choices are going to be hard to make.

Areon is a man of many secrets and many faces. Driven by revenge, he seeks to win the hand of the only woman who has ever held his heart and broken it, by winning hers in the grand tournament for him to do as he pleases. But old wounds only cover burning emotions and even a man who can't be stopped by anything, not even by blind luck, must admit defeat in front of his own heart. When it becomes painfully evident that he is not the only one seeking to claim his princess, the gloves have got to come off.

So which will it be? Will heart or destiny conquer? Is victory more important than love? And who is this mysterious Raider Prince?

Not sure all the 5 star reviews came from but then I don't know where this book came from either since I usually like books by this author. I barely managed to get through this book. I HATED Violet, she was a spoiled, whiny, vapid witch, didn't like the 'Pirate Prince' and his stupid duel personalities, and have no desire to read anything more about this world.

I'm an ardent fan of Vi Voxley and was thrilled when she announced her new series. It pains me to say that I struggled to finish this story, mainly it's because my intense dislike for the h (Violet) who comes across as petulant and spoiled. I cannot recall the number of times I almost DNF! The pace was excruciatingly slow in the beginning and only picked up pace when it gets to the tournament. I do hope the subsequent books that follows will be a much better improvement. I kept wanting my Brions back! So, this first story in this series is huge letdown for me. From reading the rest of the reviewers, I guessed I'm in the minority.

Copy was given for an honest feedback and this is truly an honest feedback.

** edit to 2 stars from the initial 3 stars ... I was being too generous before **

Vi Voxley has always been an instant buy for me. I loved all the books in her previous series.

However, this new world and the the characters that populate it just did NOT do it for me.

The plot seemed almost trivial in comparison.

I think i will be sampling any future books of hers instead of one-click buy, especially if they are set in this universe.

Interesting read!

The beginning was a little confusing. I almost gave up but I'm glad I persisted. This story is very interesting. It isn't like any I've seen before. Granted, it isn't Vi Voxley's best work but it's not bad. Just had a confusing start.

Best Vi Voxley [I've Read] Yet. This book has great characters that have depth. The H is so much fun to read about. The h could be a bit less naive (and she does get there...) but is still smart and feisty. Some aspects of the love-making are recycled (they appear in all Voxley books) but that's not necessarily a negative point for every reader. I love the whole "the end is the beginning" finale. A very creative and fun read worthy of 5 stars.

(Only one question remains...The prior book teaser suggested that this book was somehow related to the "Flora" from the Brion Brides series, but, how?)

I thought this story was very slow to get into the action with the fighting for the calayas. I bought the paperback a few years ago. One issue I had was the blurb on the back of the paperback was about the author and not the book. The second problem I had with the paperback was that it was double spaced and didn't need to be and overall the book was not well written. There was a happy ending though.

Okay read

The girl really annoyed the first half of the book. But thankfully that got better, she redeemed herself into a likable character. Thought the male was hilarious; a deadly warrior with a wicked sense of humour. So the first half is endurable and the second half is mostly enjoyable.

Good book. Awful tittle.

By the poor tittle, I was expecting a Quick, silly story, Just a past time. However, the book surprised me. The story is good, coherent and I liked the characters. The author should really invest a little more of criativity in the tittle.

Alien Prince's Bride

I didn't suspect at first that Areon was the Prince, but then he is even more powerful than the overlord. This book is a must read, he is such a clever, crazy man.

Great world building!

The Raider Prince is what you want a dream hero to be. Twisted sense of humor included. I enjoyed this one. The story was so original.

Better story than I thought

I'm almost more interested the rest of the world than I was the "love story". I'd probably read that book too.😊

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Violet and Areon. Violet is a Calaya and she and 6 other Calaya women are the prize for a tournament. Areon use to be one of Violet's guards but one day Areon tripped and knocked her over knocking her veil and nearly revealing her natural beauty. In the Calaya culture the women are to be kept away until they reach age in which there will be a tournament that the greatest warrior will win their hand in marriage. The women's beauty is legendary and all the men in their culture want a Calaya woman when she reaches age. So when Areon knocked her over and nearly revealed her it was almost punished by death. However he father the overlord felt that Areon was worthy of his time so he said if he got off the planet immediately and never returned he would spare his life. Violet knows only the most decorated warriors come to compete in the tournaments. So when she learns her bumbling former guard is signed up for them she feels like she must to everything to save him. The question then becomes was that first meeting the start of something or is Violet just looking for a champion to win her?

Areon promised Violet he would return one day. So when he learns of the tournament and finds that the woman he use to guard is one of the prizes he knows he has to enter. No matter what Violet believes she needs to do to protect him he will show her he is worthy of her hand in marriage. There is something about Areon that he hasn't told Violet or anyone about but he knows when it is revealed he will be the most hunted man out there. The overlord never thought much of him but he know one he discovers his secret he will try and kill him. There are dangers at every turn in the tournament. Will he risk everything for the woman who he believes is his?

This book is slightly different then her previous Brion Brides books. In this one we are not showing two different races coming together to ensure the bonding. In this book we are looking for a race to grown within it's self to bring back its glory. This book will have many parrels that our main characters will have to face if they are ever to find a love they deserve. This book will have you on the edge of you seat from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it.

Disappointing

Usually love her alien books but Violet is so annoying could not get past it. The hero is just as bad. Just awful personalities that made them incredibly hard to enjoy.

Space aliens having tournaments to the death so they could have a woman but not just any woman, this woman is a calaya which means   gift. You will know a calaya by the colored strand in their hair. Violet's strand was? You got it violet To be with a calaya was an honor consequently men all over the solar system would come to fight and win Violet for she was the prize. They say that the reason Atreen was so GREAT for many years was because of the calayas. But alas everything must come to an end. Violet and two of her sister were going to be fought over. Yes it was a great day to shed blood. So it seemed at first!
Areon has known for many years that when the tournament was announced he would travel in space to win the Overlord daughter.
Beren is a flagship (spaceship) for the Iron Raiders, which the Raiders Prince resided while giving orders for the Siege of Salinet. When he got word of the tournament
he left the siege to travel for the fight of his calaya. Yes, there were hundreds of Alien Men to fight to the death because only seven can live and the top man gets to pick the calaya he  wants first. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

This book is a great addition to Vi Voxley's alien brides series, which has become one of my favorite sci-fi romance series.
Violet, eldest daughter of The Overlord, is one of seven eligible Altreen calaya, prizes for which warriors will compete to the death. Areon is a bumbling former guard and friend who promised to return to fight for her in her father's tournament after being banished for bumping into her. The Raider Prince, a mercenary who disguises his Altreen heritage, has also entered the calaya tournament to fight for her.
Altreens, once holders of a vast empire, are now scattered and want to be great again. Calayas are the key to their recovery since their sons are great warriors, champions, the strongest having special abilities. Daughter's are highly prized and targets for kidnapping, however, requiring fearsome mates who can protect them. Violet wants the strongest warrior, the winner, as her protector and has the Prince in mind as her choice, even though she has never met him or forgotten the young Areon. But as the tournament begins, and bodies begin to pile up, it's clear her father also has the irreverent Prince in his sights, just not for the same reasons as Violet. And Areon could easily fall in the rigged games along with him, leaving her to an abusive monster of a champion, her father's choice.

ALIEN PRINCE'S BRIDE by Vi Voxley

Violet is a calaya, one of the most sought after prizes of the Atreens. That's the way she was raised to be, the ultimate prize for the warrior that wins the Galactic Gladiator Tournament. But when her heart and destiny clash, she has to make a choice and she can only choose one to follow. With the Raider Prince on one side and the roguish guard on the other, who will she choose.

Areon is a man with many secrets and many faces. Driven by revenge and the ultimate prize, the only woman whose ever held his heart and broken it. But by winning hers in the tournament, he will have the control do as he pleases. But emotions are hard to control, and upon realising this he admits defeat when it comes to what his heart wants.

When it becomes clear during the tournament that he is not the only one seeking his prize, he becomes the warrior he has to be to win his bride. But will it be enough to win both, the battle and the princess?

Wow this was an awesome book. This author is an amazing writer, so creative and imaginative. It had such an interesting storyline, drew me in from the start. Loved the characters, who were strong and captivating. A very exciting read!

VI has another winning series in this epic beginning novel. The forming of a new empire and what an empire it is destined to be!

Areon was a clumsy guard Violet longed for but denied even to herself. She hulled up her soul and built enormous walls to protect herself from the reality that he had zero chance of winning her in the tournament. The tournament he vowed to return to fight for her. She adamantly told him to not return, but not the reasons her believed to be, she was trying to save him. Three long years of regrets and planning his return and build of his dreams. Only Violet could delay his plans, oh but she would be worth it if it turned out as he planned. The only one she imagined could succeed was the Raider Prince, but who was he really? Her heart and soul wanted Areon, and that is who she will give her favor. Will they survive the trials? Will the raider Prince understand? Or is this just another of his tricks?

Join this adventure and hold on for an action packed trip through love and heart wrenching roller coaster as the Prizes hat their champions fight for the honor of protecting them forever.

I really enjoyed this tale of a young woman named Violet raised to know that she will have no choice in the man she marries. The right to marry her will be won in a tournament as it is for all calayas who the Atreens champions fight to win. It is a fight to the death. Areon is a man determined to win Violet. He was a guard for her father for three years and he will do everything he needs to do to get her.

Violet and the other six calayas must watch the brutal battle. Many of them have favorites but Violet is afraid to pick one she really cares about for fear he may be killed. Not selecting someone leads to other issues for her.

Areon is very sarcastic and enjoys taunting and challenging others. He has many secrets that he has hidden and are now being revealed. His feelings for Violet are not something he hides. He really made me smile with his ideas and ease at taking incredible risks.

They have few interactions together so we learn more about them from their interactions with others. When they are together, the chemistry is very evident.

I love the Brion Brides series by Vi Voxley and now in this new series she brings to life the alien world of the Atreens. Areon and Violet are the would be lovers in this book. This story is a lot of fun as Violet slowly comes to accept what's in her heart and Areon battles for the right to claim her as his own. On the surface she's vain and entitled but that's only because she has hidden away her true desire out of fear. Her plan now is to be claimed by the infamous but unseen Raider Prince, who is sure to win the tournament. Areon is not quite the clumsy, barely competent person he seemed when he was her guard three years ago, and he's determined to win Violet, the girl of his dreams. This is a great romantic adventure. I love Violet who is so brave when she finally faces her fears and Areon, the confident but lovable show off who just wants to claim the heart of his ladylove. I loved this book just as much as everything else Vi Voxley has written and am looking forward to more books in this exciting new alien romance series.

“Alien Prince’s Bride” is the latest in Vi Voxley’s arsenal of sci fi romances. Filled with blood lust and fighting, there’s a tournament where the best of the best compete to win the hand of a calaya. But as the tournament progresses, we as readers, gain more insight into what is going on, the different factions, and we being to root for the champions more as the calayas become emotionally invested in who will win. The story is well-plotted out, the characters are enjoyable, I loved the dialogue between the Prince and Reim, and later Ronay. The camaraderie had me laughing out loud with the banter. When the Prince FINALLY gets his calaya (spoilers!), the suspense had built to the point that I was wanting to shout along with Violet for him to hurry up already. AND…the sex scenes did not disappoint. Lovers of sci fi erotica that is heavy on the battles will enjoy this story for its pure entertainment.

Of note, I received a free copy of the story in exchange for an honest review and I did enjoy the story. Immensely.

One book you won't want to put down!
A reputation that comes with a price. No one knows exactly what he looks like and he plans on following through. He said he'd be back. Now with unexpected trials ahead, yet nothing less than what he expects he gets a few surprises along the way. No one will be more surprise than her father. All he has to do is win. That may be a little more irksome than he planned but he's never one to back down especially when the prize is on the line.
Hope we see more books with the characters in this book. Just loved it! I have yet to be disappointed in one of this authors books. Well written, great story line. The characters have an air about than; ones you can emotionally bond with at times. Sometimes we fight when we should just give in.

It was time for the tournament to win the hand of a calaya. An Calayn is not just a jewel or treasure but an actual living breathing prize for a warrior win. They would travel the stars, fight, bleed, and possibly die to have an calaya mate.
Violet and all 6 of her sisters were calaya. It was unheard of to have so many in one family and 3 were of age
This tournament would be the largest in living memories because there would be 7 calayas to be won.
The Prince of the raiders planned to be there he had his eye on Violet. She was going to be his.
While this story is about Violet and the prince it also has a few other couples , tons of action, drama, and craziness. I loved it, the characters are so much fun you just gotta read it
SyFy fans will go wild!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I’ll try to do a review that won’t give ANY spoilers because the whole plot of this story IS a spoiler! No worries, you’ll read about the “big” spoiler very quickly but the entire premise of the triangle part of the romance is new and fresh. This time, it is our heroine, Violet, who needs an epiphany, about herself, about her life, about her family and Areon, a “man of many secrets”, as the author describes it. I liked the characters and for the most part, the book was fun. It dragged a bit in the middle, at least for me, but I think the author writes much action and meat into the story. Challenges, epiphanies, intrigue, mayhem, and a smart aleck hero – what more could you ask for? I did like the story and recommend.

Love this author

This author does not disappoint. This is the beginning of a new series ( I hope) and what a great beginning. There is a mystery Prince and a klutzy old love ... Which will get her heart? And a true love affair amidst the drama. I was spellbound to the pages until the very end. It was that entertaining. I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. And I honestly adore this story. I wish I had another in this series to read right now. I don't like serials. I like standalone books that connect with a theme (series). Makes me feel a part of the world created. This author delivers. I bought this book when it was published because it was such a favorite and hopefully more will be based off of this one. Highly recommend this book.

This a sit on the edge of your seat book with the suspense, action ,humor, and most of all love and loyalty. I could not put this book down. The characters totally hold your interest and you are rooting for a happy ending for all of them. Areon (the bumbling guard or is he) Violet (the beautiful calaya) he has sworn to return and claim. Plus you have a host of other characters that you will love just as much. I loved this book. But best of all it is a stand alone and I am hoping it will lead to another great series. Thank you to Vi Voxley for the wonderful review copy. Highly recommend this author and her books.

Another Absolutely wonderful addition to this series. Funny, fierce, possessive and passionate Alien Warrior/Prince of Mercenaries who is a force to be reckoned with but also has a past history with one of the Overlords daughters. So deception and answers from 3 years past are finally getting answered but not without dangerous life threatening events to conquer to get the PRIZE. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND YOU PICK UP AND ENJOY IT TOO!! I had a wonderful time reading another great addition and I know you're going to love it too!! So ENJOY IT WITH ME!!

Suspenseful ... romantic ... full of surprises. Wonderful character development, with the apparently spoiled calaya, Violet, maturing and coming to terms with her fears and motivations over the course of the novel. Her suitor, Areon, is likewise not who he seems to be, and the surprises keep coming until almost the last page of the novel.

Mild spoiler: I could do without the spanking stuff. Seriously, why is being turned over a guy's knee and having your butt whacked supposed to be a turnon? But that's a mild beef in the scheme of things and, hey, apparently the characters enjoyed it. All in all, Voxley did a great job on this one!

The seventh book in the Brion Brides world. This is the story of Violet and Areon, The Raider Prince. He was hot and likeable from the start she on the other hand, not so much. I had a tough time with Violet in the beginning she was a little too STL. However, I did like that Violet grew so much during the story. Per usual the sex is amazing and only adds to further the story line, its not just plopped in there. It was nice to see some familiar faces and we get to see three princesses get their HEA. I definitely recommend this book.

Aeron is the most resfreshing and unique hero I've read in this genre! It blows my mind how Vi Voxley could create a character so complex, it feels like Aeron is bordering on a split personality. What I love about Aeron is his single minded focus and infuriating humour which draws everyone around him. The heroine Violet had overcame a massive personal barrier that I felt was washed over in the magnetism of Aeron's story.

This story will stay with me a long time, I highly recommened everyone give it a chance!

P.S. How hot is Reim?! I wish he had his own book!
