Henry the hippo turns up at the zoo after his mother dies. But the zoo already has a hippo and horrible Mr Pinch wants to send Henry away! Zoe can’t bear to see the little hippo homeless, so she comes up with a hiptastic plan!
The Happy Hippo from the Zoe's Rescue Zoo series is another wonderful addition to a collection my son and I truly enjoy reading together.
We've read many books in this series, and they've all been consistently fun and engaging. The characters are a big part of what makes these stories so special, especially the ever-moody Mr. Pinch, who always adds a but of humor and personality.
It's also been really enjoying learning about different animals and their enclosures through each story. The books strike a nice balance of being entertaining with a bit of magic, and gently educational, which makes them perfect for reading together.
Overall, this is just a genuinely enjoyable series that we keep coming back to, and this book was no exception.
This is the first book in this series that I have read to my son. I picked a few up at the library and we both really enjoyed the lovely story and are going to try and meet them in as much order as possible now. We loved that Meep spoke and we are looking forward to reading about more of the rescue animals.
Read with my 6 year old, he loves it. The zoo was able to expand their hippo exhibit (which I would think needs some reinforcing??) in just an afternoon, none of the keepers had anything else to do???
