Coursodon Dimension #5

Special Deceptions

Rate this book
Still reeling over his brother’s death, Alex reluctantly assumes his new role as Crown Prince of Alenquai. Meanwhile, Hailey finds the constraints of life as his fiancé…constraining. Besides a lack of privacy and the grueling demands of her personal Protocol Aid, Hailey is convinced her future mother-in-law wants to drive a wedge between her and Alex. If that isn’t bad enough, something more sinister is afoot, forcing Alex and Hailey to put aside their differences to solve the villainous mystery.

Special Deceptions, book five of the Coursodon Dimension Series, combines paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and a healthy dose of quirky humor.

Scientist by day, paranormal romance-urban fantasy author by night, M.L. Ryan has many stories rolling around in her head, and she finally decided to write some of them. She prefers literature that isn't saddled with excruciating symbolism, ponderous dialogue or worldly implications. She also doesn't like plots so reliant on love at first sight that it makes her feel like her head might implode. She lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband and teenage son, four cats, two Curly Coated Retrievers and an adopted desert tortoise.

Book 5 and still "engaged". ;-)

Kindle Unlimited - Yay!

Happy to say that the series is still so much fun to read.

Some things... What about the GZ's secret squads? Covert missions and spying on the royal family and Xyzok? No rewards for Myrjix? Seems like she'd at least get a free ride to complete her studies and a stellar apprenticeship? Oh... Please don't recycle Kleem. Hate it when the bad guys endlessly loop.

After a bit of a break between books 4 and 5 I forgot how much I enjoyed this series. I love the interactions between Hailey, Alex and Sebastian. In this one there is a mystery to solve, and Hailey navigates royal life. Special Deceptions is soley set in the Coursodon Dimension. Such a great read. Straight onto Special Conceptions, book 6 for me.

Another Great Book

A little convulsed and drawn out but still a great story. I love the characters and their personalities, and how the main character is a trouble magnetic. I can not wait until book 6 comes out.

Good

Wow, now that I never suspected. I did suspect the widow, and did wonder if they were wrong to think Keen was dead. Loved the negotiations towards the end to get a somewhat normal life.

Great read

I really liked this one. It had a twist I didn't see coming and that ending wow talk about steamy. Can't wait for book 6.

M. L. Ryan continues to build on her series with this latest addition. From the very first book, I've been in love with her characters, her writing style and the worlds she's created. Her characters are strong yet fallible, her storyline is consistently steady, and the end never is what I predicted or expected. As I read each book, I'm whisked off to worlds I never knew existed and yet find believable. I've met characters I can root for and cheer on, or ones I am so glad are not real. Within moments of starting this book I was transported back into the series and it was like being with friends I hadn't visit with in awhile. Each ending makes me hungry for more. I find myself laughing, cheering, and holding my breath. I shake my head and utter "of course" when surprised where the author takes me. That is what I read for - entertainment, take me away from my day, and make my day when a new book is available. This author, and this series is exactly that.

Picking up where the last book left off, clearly Royal life is not to Hailey's liking. As usual, nothing is ever as simple as it seems. As is often mentioned, Hailey seems to be a magnet for trouble. Can't really blame her. She commits a few social missteps that should kind of be expected being that she's from a different world, but everything ties together. I have to love how the author keeps the story interesting and never predictable. I especially love that Hailey hasn't changed. She's still sarcastic and dirty minded and just fun to envision. I was surprised by who was behind it all in the end. Pretty sure there's more to come in the series. I can't wait to see what comes next.

A satisfying read

I didn't expect to make such a long term series commitment when I first read Special Rewards but I really grew to like Hailey so I just had to keep reading.

While this book was more mystery and less action than previous installments, it was still a good read and I was very satisfied by the end.

Great

Great addition to the series. I hope there's a next one with a possible wedding for someone special. Or maybe a baby scandal

Really good read!

I really enjoyed book 5! I didn't want to put the book down. Just when you think everything has been settled, BAM! Another event draws you in again.
