"In the hands of Greg Rucka, one of the best comics writers out there -- and a big fan of BioWare and Dragon Age -- it seems like its well on the way to delivering." - Polygon
Greg Rucka, is an American comic book writer and novelist, known for his work on such comics as Action Comics, Batwoman: Detective Comics, and the miniseries Superman: World of New Krypton for DC Comics, and for novels such as his Queen & Country series.
Not a whole lot of story and it makes me wonder how it's going to wrap up in the next/last issue. Even capitalizing on the Inquisition's large and detailed story and harkening back to its characters and monsters, I still don't really get any sort of idea of what the main plot of this graphic novel is supposed to be.
This issue is basically:
I did give this extra points for making me want to play DAI again though.
Originally, Magekiller was supposed to be six issues – or that's what the solicitations said, anyways. So I'm a little disappointed that it cut off at only five, because the ending doesn't feel particularly... satisfying. I mean, I know how it ends and what comes after, but that's because I've played Inquisition through twice now, and I know how it ends. Still, I had fun with it and for what it was, I just wish that there had been more of it.
Really unsatisfying conclusion to what started out as one of the best comics I've read. The plot of the first two issues completely dropped off in #3 and is never resolved. Each issue after 2 has very little story to it, and the final volume has the least of all. Marius and Tessa go on one final mission, finally realizing they are more than partners: they're friends. And the story just ends. I'm disappointed...but I did like that Tessa ended up being a lesbian character and her girlfriend is an elf, cause that was cute AF.
This comic had such promise but the conclusion just dwindled down into nothing. This series begs for fan fiction fixes. lol
What happened? The first two parts of Magekiller were kind of promising, it seemed like there was this cool original side story in the world of Dragon Age. Then the plot was quickly scrapped and it turned into a crappy tie-in to the latest game...
