Life was simply great for Casey until her coming of age day. When turning twenty-one should have been the making of her, and the start of something great between her and Austin. But instead turned into the nightmare of her life.
Her relationship with her lover suffered.
Her abandonment issues trap her in loneliness where she hides in the shadows of the remainder of that night.
She can't confide in anyone.
She is alone.
Can Austin save his love from this nightmare, battle through the struggles and keep them together.
Can Casey trust anyone again and survive this horrible ordeal?
I give Unconditional 5 stars for keeping me intrigued, and for opening me up to many emotions. I was enraged for Casey and Blaize, as they were left to fend for themselves. I cried for Casey and Austin when I thought they wouldn't get through what happened to her. I enjoyed knowing "he" got what was due in the end!
Although they've known each other most of their lives, and he is her brother's best friend, he's never crossed the line because Blaize made it clear that his sister was off limits. Austin has loved her since she was sixteen, and Casey always had a spark for him also. The timing was never right...is it their time now?
Unconditional is a standalone novel that definitely talks of love conquering all. Blaize, the overprotective big brother does everything in his power to shelter Casey. On her twenty first birthday, he drops the ball and her life is turned upside down. Austin, her loving boyfriend doesn't know what he's done for her to not want to be with him anymore. Will they figure out what has happened? Will Casey ever be the same?
Louise Evans talks about a very serious issue and how it affects the victim, their family and friends and even sometimes the family of the perpetrator. Join Casey, Blaize and Austin as their story unfolds...it promises to keep you interested and engaged.
I loved this book and didn't put it down until I finished it. As It discussed the emotions Casey went through, and the fear she felt once the verdict was read, I wished that fate would intervene and was very happy when it did. A story well told!
This was a very sad story. Not for the faint-hearted or for those who have suffered at the hands of abuse. I would not suggest to reader under the age of 18 either.
~Spoiler Alert~ (Don't read on if you don't want some details) Firstly, the main protagonist Casey James was not unlike most young women with a dream and that dream was Austine. She had fancied him since she was just a kid. Little did she know, Austin felt the same way. Secretly from afar, he'd been admiring her too, and it was time to make his move. Casey and her brother Blaize were recently abandoned by their mother who did a moonlight flit with some guy, leaving them the house and everything in it. Blaize was determined to make Casey's 21st Birthday a night to remember - And he wasn't wrong there, it truly was a night Casey couldn't forget. All was going well until that fateful night until she had lost her friends, Austin and her brother, she was forced to go home alone. Casey was assaulted that night. Dragged into a dark alleyway and brutally raped. Casey couldn't turn to anyone; she was all alone just like that night in the alley. Her relationship with Austin suffered, she couldn't allow anyone to touch her, and she couldn't allow them to know. Her mother is called, and she gets to the bottom of things, and the secret is out. Blaize and Austin are riddled with guilt and stick to the stomach because they weren't there to protect her. Now time to tell the police - what proof did she have that this event happened? None! Casey burnt all evidence of this night to hide the shame. All she had were her memories of it. That's not enough to go on, the police go off and do there thing. Austin isn't satisfied with their response, he goes out on his own investigations, asking around for CCTV and any information he can get his hands on, but things come up dry. The chances of this scumbag getting caught were becoming less and less. Or was it? The only person who knew the man for sure was Casey, she would know him anywhere. The way he smelt, the way he talked, the colour of his eyes, and that damn tattoo on his arm. A Manchester United Fan. She hated football. Her mother coming back was no lucky chance, it was fate. Her returning home is what changed the whole thing. She not only brought Casey the love and attention she had always craved, but she brought the man who violated her. A good read. As I said above it was sad, but I loved how things unfolded, how something seemed so hopeless and then there was light, and that I was shouting at Casey in some weird hope she'd listen to me lol You'll have to read it to find out whether she gets her justice. I've spoilt enough int his review lol
