He's a synthetic man! She's a mutant sorceress! Once they were outcasts, but now they have each other, and a love which can withstand every danger they face! Steve Englehart and Richard Howell present…Vision and the Scarlet Witch!
Steve Englehart went to Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. After a stint in the Army, he moved to New York and began to write for Marvel Comics. That led to long runs on Captain America, The Hulk, The Avengers, Dr. Strange, and a dozen other titles. Midway through that period he moved to California (where he remains), and met and married his wife Terry.
He was finally hired away from Marvel by DC Comics, to be their lead writer and revamp their core characters (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern). He did, but he also wrote a solo Batman series (immediately dubbed the "definitive" version) that later became Warner Brothers' first Batman film (the good one).
After that he left comics for a time, traveled in Europe for a year, wrote a novel (The Point Man™), and came back to design video games for Atari (E.T., Garfield). But he still liked comics, so he created Coyote™, which within its first year was rated one of America's ten best series. Other projects he owned (Scorpio Rose™, The Djinn™) were mixed with company series (Green Lantern [with Joe Staton], Silver Surfer, Fantastic Four). Meanwhile, he continued his game design for Activision, Electronic Arts, Sega, and Brøderbund.
And once he and Terry had their two sons, Alex and Eric, he naturally told them stories. Rustle's Christmas Adventure was first devised for them. He went on to add a run of mid-grade books to his bibliography, including the DNAgers™ adventure series, and Countdown to Flight, a biography of the Wright brothers selected by NASA as the basis for their school curriculum on the invention of the airplane.
In 1992 Steve was asked to co-create a comics pantheon called the Ultraverse. One of his contributions, The Night Man, became not only a successful comics series, but also a television show. That led to more Hollywood work, including animated series such as Street Fighter, GI Joe, and Team Atlantis for Disney.
All Vision and Wanda wanted was to buy a home in a quiet neighbourhood but of course zombies interrupt their plans. I’ve come all this way without reading a zombie-involved story but they just HAD to be included in this one…
Also included was a recap of both Vision and Wanda’s respective history!
The next issue in the story is West Coast Avengers (1985) #2.
Side note: Starfox made an appearance in this ish so that puts this story before The Legacy of Thanos story line.
Side side note: I don’t know if it’s because I just watched it but I saw a couple of similarities between some panels in this issue and what happened in Wandavision!!
Lovers And Zombies #1 ⭐⭐ 2/5 stars Usually, I'm into zombies and the unliving dead, but this didn't grab me as much as the other Scarlet Witch and Vision comics have been. I did enjoy the villains in this one though.
Side note: Before ever seeing this cover or storyline, I saw the digital coloring sheet in the Marvel Color Your Own app for Apple. I instantly downloaded and colored. I thought the hands in the foreground were demon hands, not zombies, and colored mine red and accidentally colored Vision in his new red and green gear instead of his old green and yellow gear. Comparing the two was so fun! Being a colorist for a comic book would be a dream for me! If I can figure out how to upload photos here, maybe I'll share my version.
New character I met: Nekra- Priestess of All Darknesses. —Lover to Grim Reaper (aka Eric Williams Wonder Man's brother) — Albino ?— Not sure if she is a vampire. She's got the teeth, but no hint towards her being a vampire otherwise?
pretty fun plot to read :) imagine trying to move on with your life with your significant other, trying to buy a house to settle down in then wham!.. zombies.
even though it’s only the first issue, i’m fairly curious about what will happen to our dear couple and their new home.. that is if the current house-owner agrees lol.

I've forgotten how neatly self-promotional Marvel were back in the day. The stories collected here are great (if bonkers), rendered in glorious technicolour and neat line in wise-cracking sarcasm.
Actually read 9 out of this 12 book series. The characterization of Vision and Wands is wonderful, and they seem like an actual couple as opposed to the shoe-horned romance in the MCU right now. The only problems I have with this series is that there's so many ads and Vision isn't that smart sometimes. He's a human computer and yet the computer part gets lost a lot.
I would actually give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars. This gives me such Wandavision episode 1 vibes (buying a house, dealing with intolerant people, trying to live a “normal life”)! The cover is stunning! I honestly don’t know why I’ve been so into comic books recently, but they’ve been great to read!
Whole series review I loved it, so much better than west coast avengers, my favorite arc is definitely still the first one but all of them were enjoyable, I loved the holiday themed issues and I never felt the length of the comics
