While all these books are standalone, I am really enjoying reading in order. As we meet different women with unusual psychic abilities, there are some stranger than others, some somewhat aware, others clueless and scared.
Alexis Gordon is a gardener with the city, she loves plants and although she doesn't recognize it as such she boosts plants energy with her thoughts and actions. That has been all it is until this political filled groundbreaking for the new gardens. Alexis makes a startling discovery when she falls into a ditch that is being dug for new sewer lines. She's never had a vision before and the one she has as she holds a skeletal finger is both scary and disturbing.
Kevin Sutherland is also attending this event, he is there in a supposed official capacity. Not that there is any case to investigate but he does use his psychic abilities to scan the area looking for possible issues. He senses something is wrong and moves away from the crowd to find the source. When he finds Alexis, he also finds the source of her need for help, a child's skeletal body in the wall of the ditch.
When Alexis gives her account of finding the body, she doesn't mention her vision of the child. She wasn't sure what to make of it, and didn't want to be labeled as crazy. Her friend and co-worker Scott understands something happened. An older gentleman she regards him as almost a father figure, he refers to her gift with plants as sight which she rejects. Now she's just not sure of anything anymore. She needs help to understand but doesn't know anyone or even how to explain this turn of events. Especially the vision in her apartment hallway and the appearance of her sister Lissa's ghostly form.
Kevin is trying to find out what she's hiding, and is surprised when she felt his psychic probe as a physical caress. Yet he gains no further information as she leaves for home. However once she arrives home he hears her cry for help and needs to get to the bottom of it all. He was more than a little surprised to find she has no clue how strong a psychic she is.
Stefan becomes a friend helping her to navigate the ethers and control how much she puts out there. She sees her sister in the ethers and having her there brightens Alexis even more as she realizes she can move forward. It's while she's with Lissa that she sees 'evil' for the first time. It's a threat to her personally and somehow involves the child she found.
Stefan jumps in at her cry of fear, and of course Kevin shows up at her door. There's a relationship brewing there one that will complete the two of them.
Plenty of anxiety, suspense, romance and so much more as Kevin and Alexis work to solve the mystery of the child's identity.
I am really enjoying these books, I love the pairings so far, cops and psychics. I can't wait for Stefan to find his, it's being hinted at in almost every book. I'm so happy these books are offered in bundles so I can just move on to the next one.
Knock Knock... Book 5
We meet Shay at the start of this book, she's woken with a sense of dread. Her ghost cat Morris a blue ball of energy at her shoulder. What ensues is a psychic battle with her fiancé. One she almost doesn't survive but with the help of Stefan and then Morris she does. She sees something as the end is near but it was too late to stop the process. Darren and who or what was inside him died. A bittersweet moment as well since Morris was gone too.
A year later, Shay is looking forward to meeting Roman Chandler, they connected through their grandfathers who are close friends. She already knows his twin brother Ronin, a detective in Portland. However, hadn't lived here until recently. She didn't know what their relationship could be but she does want to find out.
Shay runs a foundation and uses her ability to read energy to be sure what is on paper matches the intent of the person requesting the grants. Beatrice Folgrent, her godmother, also runs a similar foundation and they often compared applicants to see which foundation they would be better suited to. It's a grand fundraising event put on by Beatrice that Shay finally gets to meet Roman in person. Aside from the immediate attraction something else happens at the same time.
Things start to go a bit crazy after this. It appears someone is targeting people who run places funded by Shay's foundation. Even with all that going on, the attraction between her and Roman is growing. He's hiding something and that scares her. She's afraid he's hiding things like her now dead fiancé.
Roman wants to share his secret, but he's afraid of her reaction. He's beginning to get a reputation as an artist and it's his 'model' that might get him in trouble with Shay. He's been painting her for years with no face showing. She's his muse, he's tried other media but they never work for him.
Once again it's Stefan who helps get that ball rolling in the right direction. All that and tracking down the person responsible for the attacks. Ronin is also helping with Roman handling her security and computer work.
Plenty of intrigue, some laughs, some sizzle and yes, I even cried in this one.
Rare Find Book 6
We met Tabitha in 'Knock Knock...' her animal refuge is one of Shay's Foundation's benefactors. Ronin is our local detective with his own abilities. There is a lot of attraction between him and Tabitha, as we saw in that book.
Now with the death of Tabitha's grandfather Ronin is even more protective of her. She's also been having headaches since returning from hiding in the ether and having a slow recovery that required hospitalization. I've loved the way animals come to play in these books, they are a way to find peace in their crazy world. In Tabitha's world the animals are both pets and shelter. I wasn't surprised to see her with a massive dog, a three-legged Bull Mastiff named Tripod. Her other pet however, gave me pause, Tango is a very affectionate white tiger. Raised from a cub Tango and Tabitha share a special bond one I'm sure is aided by her gifts.
Ronin is in for a big surprise though, he's never been in her home, they're taking things slow. He does have a problem with cats though, he's going to have to get over it if he wants to continue his relationship with Tabitha. He's at still at work when Stefan calls him to get to Tabitha, that she's been attacked psychically. It took a bit of doing but Ronin makes friends with Tripod and gets Tabitha the help she needs. However, it's Stefan who get her back to herself and home since medically there isn't anything wrong with her.
Ronin was there waiting with dinner, but when Tango roars Tabitha knows she has to introduce Ronin.
It's bad enough for Ronin to get through that but to realize Tango frequently sleeps with her is quite another. He stays the night with her, and when she wakes feeling hunted he's right there. After that he's in her bed, not going to do anything but sleep but her restlessness leads to conversation about him and cats and then to other things.
It's not long after that feeling of being hunted comes back, Tabitha decides to try something and ends up being yanked out of her body to somewhere else. It takes a while but she finally realizes she is inside a large cat. She doesn't know where and that's a problem. She has to find her way back in order to save both of them.
Ronin also figures out his issue with cats, and yes I cried.
This book pulls out all the stops and is extremely emotional. With nail-biting suspense and an unusual twist on the psychic abilities.
A great value collection of books - definitely recommended
#4 - Garden of Sorrows - 5*
After the loss of her sister a year ago, Alexis Gordon goes to work and reality disappears for her after Detective Kevin Sutherland (who has some psychic abilities) sees a gift in Alexis he asks his friend Stefan Kronos (a psychic, artist and law enforcement consultant) to help her develop her skills. However, Kevin has never seen a killer with a personal vendetta to stop Alexis from finding out more about him and his long-dead victims. Can they stop the killer and make sure he is really gone?
I loved this story which was full of drama, intrigue, excitement and also the lovely way that a relationship developed between Kevin and Alexis. Well written and very enjoyable, this was a mystery novel which contained physic skills too.
#5 - Knock, knock - 4*
Shay Lassiter is wealthy and beautiful and spends her time running an organisation called the Lassiter Foundation, but all that meant nothing when her fiance tried to murder her. Now she is far more cautious and uses her knack for reading people to save herself heartache. However, when people connected to the foundation start dying in slightly unexpected or mysterious ways she needs to depend on help from the new man in her life. Computer specialist and ex-cop, Roman Chandler has s secret that could ruin his relationship with Shay. Can he get her to trust him and learn more about him while saving Shay when the killer sets their sights on her?
This was definitely a clever psychic mystery wrapped up into a romance between Shay and Roman. There were parts of this story that I found long-winded and monotonous, and there were parts that I really enjoyed (hence the rating). It was well written and very enjoyable to read. The way that Roman rescues Shay at the end was very clever.
#6 - Rare Find - 5*
Tabitha buries herself and her aching heart into her work with the animals at Exotic Landscapes. That works fine until she gets yanked out of her world to help someone in desperate need- problem id she gets a lot more than she bargained for. Detective Ronin Chandler understands secrets as he has some of his own, but when the woman he loves gets into trouble, it stretches his belief system and he struggles to understand how he can help before he loses her. The problem is working out who can be trusted and doing that before it is too late.
I loved this story which had a great mixture of psychic discovery, a murder mystery, a kidnapping and a love story all rolled into one. I loved the way that the various characters communicated with each other and the way that Ronin struggled but still managed to pull himself together and make progress in his own knowledge and psychic skills. Well written and very enjoyable, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it and worked out what was going on.
Garden of Sorrow: A tough one to rate. While the story was good, there were a few things that I felt a little "off" about. It dragged a little. In part because it always feels kind of hopeless. However, that is also part of its allure. The fact that murderers can so easily hide because of how they are actually killing people and the fact that there is no way to be able to truly prove it. The second thing that feels a little off is that there seems to be quite a few people with this gift of reading energy congregated fairly close together. They may not all be in the same town, but they all seem to be in the same state and within close proximity at that. Stefan is the common link, which I love and cannot wait to get to his story. Ironically, although described as highly talented, he has flaws and admits that others can definitely do things he cannot. One of my favorite characters. The third "off" thing is the romance between Kevin and Alexis. I totally got where Kevin was at, but I wasn’t impressed with Alexis. As much as I could understand her loner mentality with all of the loss she has suffered, that didn't explain why she had a hard time connecting with Kevin. The chemistry was lacking unlike what I loved about Maddy's Floor's H/h. One thing I do like about these stories is the focus is on the mystery surrounding the couples and that there isn't a lot of sex, but I DO like the romance parts and expect it within most of the books I read. Their relationship just didn't read right and then it was like, "oh, love him I do", at the end. At one point, Alexis did say she was more like her sister once upon a time. That I would have loved to have seen as the story progressed. Lissa’s ghost kept popping in throughout the story and in doing so, you got to see her personality which was definitely more fun-loving and outgoing. For the one who died, I found her to be more likeable and interesting than her sister, Alexis. And the last "off" thing, is the true murderer really gone? Seems like with what these evildoers are able to do, that is not always the case and there is always that catch of "they have hooks into many people". Hmm, just feels like throughout the story, they are portrayed as impossible to beat that I have a hard time believing they ARE truly gone. And minor pet peeve, there are still quite a few missing or misspelled words throughout which distracts from the story that I wish would be cleaned up. It would make the reading less frustrating.
Overall, I still like these books. They are definitely well thought out even if not truly unique given most stem from some kind of energy manipulation, but the premise behind why they are doing what they are doing is still different.
Knock, Knock: I liked this one a lot, but the grammatical errors are annoying which knocked down the rating. It starts out pretty dramatic and it took a while for me to figure out the villain, but the one thing that is consistent about these stories is that it isn't easy for the police to solve without a large leap in faith, and even those who are similarly gifted struggle with locating the person behind the crimes.
Shay is a strong character. Even after the betrayal she suffers, she has her beloved grandfather, close friends to lean on who are like her, a rewarding career, and a potential new love interest. She isn't completely trusting, but she is still open to a certain extent. Roman is someone that her family and friends believe would be good for her. Their grandfathers are close, she knows and has worked with his twin brother Ronin, and she has been communicating with Roman long distance for awhile. However, things get a little dicey when the people around her begin to die and she knows Roman hasn't been completely forthright with her.
I love the connection that slowly builds between Shay and Roman. He's a good guy, but she's been burned so it takes her some time to come to grips with her feelings for him and whether or not she can really trust him. He knows he wants more with her, but even he is unaware to what extent he cares for her. It was funny to see others can see what he plainly did not.
Overall, one of my favorites of the series. Looking forward to Ronin's book, then Stefan's.
Rare Find: Another good one. The one thing I was surprised by was that Ronin and Tabitha were already in a relationship. That never came up in Roman's book. Not a bad thing, just not what I was expecting.
Tabitha's special gift centers around animals rather than people. Running a shelter for exotic animals and the way she was raised would have seen to that, but a bit of a stretch to imagine animals have psychic abilities too. However, the author did do a good job making it work. We hear of animal whisperers, this just takes it to a whole new level. Ronin was a great counterpoint for her. Although involved with others who have gifts too, he was still new enough to be surprised by what he was learning, but also more accepting than Roman was. At least when it came to everyone but himself. It was harder for him to accept that he and Roman shared more than looks, but thanks to Stefan, he came around.
Unlike the other stories, this one had several things going on at once which made it more interesting. The main focus was on the smuggling, but Tabitha was the one link between that and the others issues and it took a while to figure that out. Unlike the other books, who was causing the issues was not so clear. Although at the heart of everything, it always comes down to greed.
Loved the ending where a few of the characters come together and we get a hint into Stefan's book. I've been waiting for him to get his own HEA.
I like the concept, especially the combination of Psychic abilities and animal involvement, however after reading 6 books it's getting a little repetitive. I started figuring out the "who done it" way before I should have and some of the reasons why characters were doing things started to become......well, not very intelligent. Not sure if it was because the author became complacent or if it's because I read books 1-6 pretty much one after the other. One thing in particular that I hate is when authors have characters keep secrets from each other, that if they'd "Only said something sooner" it would have made a difference. Just seems far fetched very often. Other than that, I enjoyed them (obviously, I read 6 books!), but am going to take a break.
One other note. Each subsequent book had more and more editing errors. Another pet peeve.
I got to halfway through this boxed set and decided to call a halt. I found the fact nearly every character was psychic a bit annoying and it seemed as if everyone lived in everyone's heads. The amount of thought invasion was a bit disturbing. In the first story Garden of Sorrow, I thought it started very well and was intrigued. But unfortunately I didn't take to Kevin who I found controlling and a bully. He was also a psychic and pushed his way into Alexis's mind, reading her most private thoughts without permission. I am very disappointed as I like psychic stories especially when they include a crime. However, I'll not delete this boxed set from my Kindle and perhaps in the future I'll go back to it.
I finished the first three books, then gobbled down these. Not great literature, but warm & cozy between interludes of horror; at least a side order of mystery with mostly likeable characters, except for the totally slimy, nasty bad guys & the stuff where you don't know what's coming, you just know it's coming. The element of all-the-weird-stuff-goes-on-in-Portland feels humorous and homey to me, having been a Grimm fan for some time. (Both kinds, but here I reference the TV show.) Highly recommended as recreational reading for those who can enjoy both the paranormal and the romance side of these.
This series is the first few books I have read by this AMAZING author and I am not able to put these books down! Each story has its own world but you still get to stay in touch with characters and what is or has happened to them since you read their story. I like that about how the author keeps you up today on them. These are amazing worlds to read about and the characters in each story are different but are alike too. This author has created an AMAZING world that is so believable. This series has sooo much romance, love, suspense galore, lasting friendship and the endings in each story catches you by surprise each time. LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
I love reading how all the characters seem to know each other and they all have being a psychic in common. The stories show different ways to use their psychic powers and what each one person can do
This book makes me want to have what they have. Each character has special abilities some aware and all learning more about their abilities. Not the textbook definition of psychic.
Great reading, I couldn't put these books down and intend to keep reading the next set as well. Each book is totally different, with different psychic talents and different scenarios. You have to read them to understand!
Once again three fantastic books. All of them are extremely well written. All are excellent stories. Book 6 is a psychic story like no other you have ever read.
I enjoyed all 3 stories. All stories have characters and events in common, but, each its own unique psychic ability and challenges. Each ending was a surprise to me.
Excellent and thought provoking. Makes one need to study the psychic world, would love to know the working of Dale Mayer ' mind. Keep on producing, please.
Books 1-3 was very good but books 4-6 was even better. I love that Dale carried Stefan and mentioned some of the other characters in these other books. That the brothers Roman and Ronin got together with friends Shay and Tabitha. The story itself was great but adding in the animals made it even better. Can't wait to see what's in store for Stefan as he makes a family of friends.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
I just finished books 4-6 of the Psychic Visions series. This series has me hooked on books written by Dale Mayer. All three books in Volume II kept me guessing "who done it" to the end. The characters are strong, well-developed and compelling. They had me invested in their stories from the first page. I must admit that I haven't read a lot of paranormal psychic thrillers, but I see more psychic visions in my future. One thing I really liked about these books is that they challenge me examine the possibility that we may be able to communicate in ways not commonly recognized. These books are not simple to read. To get the full experience of these books, the reader has to concentrate on what is being said and done. Volume III of this series is available now. Needless to say I'm signing into Amazon to purchase it as soon as I finish this review. I hope you purchase these books and that you enjoy them as much as I did.
*received ARCS from the author in exchange for an honest review*
This set's individual ratings were 3-5 stars so the average is about a solid 4 for me. My favorite was Garden of Sorrow, because of how much I connected with the MC and the detective. It was exciting, interesting, frightening, and the way it was written drew me in. My least favorite would be Knock, Knock, mainly because it dealt with business people that I couldn't connect to. The rest of the reasons had to deal with my lack of connecting to it, and the bad guy themselves (not very scary, and too obvious after a clue was dropped)
Overall, this set is pretty worth picking up. I've enjoyed the series so far, and I love the aspect of psychics and detectives coming together to overthrow the bad guy's game. Recommend.
Unlike the previous books in the series, the battles fought in the first two books in this set are mostly in the ether. The third is also different but in a more animalistic way. And Stefan Kronos continues to be the common denominator, the mentor of a growing group of psychics he can call on when needed, and who can call on him. The books in this series can be read as standalones, but benefit from being read in order, which makes these sets the best way to go. Easy peasy.
'Psychic Visions: Books 4-6' were absolutely thrilling. Very creative and each book different from the last. The books are well written and well thought out. Each psychic ability that comes about from the characters is unique and quite creative. The women is each story were so full of compassion, hope, love for who they are as spicics and what they stand for. Alexis, Shay and Tabitha are so strong willed and loving. The men in their lives are somewhat doubtful but they come around after being in the midst of the unexplained. Stefan has played such an integral part from the beginning of this series. I look forward to reading his story. A great add to your tbr list.
Had books 1-3 on my reader a long time, then got the opportunity for books 4-6. These stories are all stand alone books, but was glad to have three and just kept reading. Everyone has a psychic ability. Some not developed. These stories tell about romance and acceptance. Ever had felt you had ESP or been somewhere that you know you have never been? Animals have a connection to themselves and humans.
These books are awesome! They are mind-bending and lead you into a world where the mind is all-powerful and anything you want to happen can happen. The characters are truly believable a s you quickly develop a bond with them. They repeat in each book as they help others along the way to self-realization. The entire series is awesome! I can’t repeat it enough. If you haven’t read them, why not?
This is brilliant way to get books for an amazing price.....You won't be disappointed this is FANTASTIC series by one of my favourite authors......Get story with amazingly clever characters ..fast paced ..great twists.....your want to read more that's a promise.......
