Rate this book
Two sexy supernatural tales by the mad inventors of fan favorite Aoi House! VAMPIRE CHEERLEADERS The Bakertown High School cheerleading squad has a behind all their pretty makeup and short skirts are five hungry vampires who sure know how to show their school spirit! When one of their own turns up missing, the vampire cheerleaders have no other choice but to induct one of the eleventh grade girls from 'B Squad' into their vixenous ranks. Siring new recruit Heather Hartley may be the easy part, but keeping her from becoming a vamp-gone-wild and draining the entire football team on the eve of the big homecoming game is another matter! PARANORMAL MYSTERY SQUAD Goth girl Stephanie Kane, her bratty sister Katie, and best friend Charlotte have a good thing going. They've made a name for themselves traveling the country in their trusty Winnebago hunting down cryptids and all manners of supernatural beasties. That is, until the organization known as PETM (People for the Ethical Treatment of Monsters) slaps them with a boatload of new regulations and places a court-appointed PETM liaison on their all-girl the enigmatic, albeit slightly anemic, J.C. Summerfield. When things go awry during the team's next case, it's Stephanie's kid sister Katie who finds herself in the hairiest situation of her life...literally!

Another fun graphic novel read written/made by Adam Arnold. Thank you to Seven Seas for offering this one (and others) for free.

Cheerleaders Squad: This was a very fun read though I wasn't a fan of the boy who liked Heather and I wasn't a fan how it was solved in the end. Heather seemed like a cute sweet girl, but oh man when she turns into a vampire there is like a whole girl beneath that is eager to take charge and do whatever she wants. She really acts like a newbie vampire which I quite liked. I did think it was kind of dumb that the vampires stayed at the same spot for the entire time, hello, someone will notice one day because pictures are made. Do you really think someone will believe your spiel that it is your mom? *laughs* I guess glamour would work, but still, I would just move and settle somewhere else.
I had a bit of a laugh at the boys and then especially later with the squads and the solution the girls thought of to make things at least work out.. some way.
I loved that this was about cheerleaders and that it featured vampires and that we learned about vampires and all they do (lots of tanning stations and sunlotion oh and delicious watermelons with blood). The manga-style art was also great fun and I loved how the girls were drawn.

4.5 stars for Cheerleaders Squad.

Full review to come (as I found out there is more to this graphic novel than just the vampire squad).

Mindless fun, girls flashing their half naked bodies around and some sex jokes here and there... sexual gimmick under the wrapping of vampire stories, the whole thing is quite meaningless really.....I am glad I can read it for free.

Vampire Cheerleaders - Ridiculous , somewhat campy, fun. What you see is what you get—a great pallet-cleanser between deeper, darker reads.
I did find it odd that they had no interest in searching for their missing squad member, though.
It was amusing enough for me to want to read the next one.

Paranormal Mystery Squad - Just as ridiculous but a little less fun/funny. It seems to take itself a bit more seriously, then remembers what it is and adds a joke or two, but they fall flat.
The surprise reveal wasn't surprising at all.
I think I will have to give this story a chance to grow on me.

Well that was an entertaining start to a new series, but not something overly great. I liked the plot, and the characters are funny and weird but in my opinion, the premise although cute it's very common and even boring.

However the illustration is amazing, i loved the clear design and the amazing lines.

As for the story, the Vampire Cheerleaders are exactly as it sounds. Vampires in a Cheerleading team. After the death of one of them the team needs a new member so they host try outs. Heather is the 'lucky' new girl that will get more than she bargained for.

Now about the second story, i don't have good things to say. I didn't like the plotline much and i found the characters very irritating.. And i won't even try to criticize the name of the team, P.M.S.? My work here is done.

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- It' mature and juvenile both at the same time. I have no idea, how that was achieved, but it's interesting.
- The V.C. is funny, sexy and girly..
- Two different stories.
- I liked the team!!
- I bet Lori has a very compeling back story.

This one’s kind of a hard one for me to rate because it’s two different stories the second story paranormal mystery squad is actually kind of interesting the artwork and this one is actually pretty decent and the character development is actually really good on what happens to the characters there are some things about that are kind of a little eye rolling but for the most part it wasn’t too bad not great but not bad however the first story vampire cheerleaders is like Reading a bad bee movie vampire movie it just fell at times there was too many boob jokes and The artwork was kind of subpar and not really all that interesting and the story was just so bland this one’s the two the other ones the three all I know and I don’t think I’ll be reading the rest of this series anytime soon

This is a manga that, from the beginning, I knew I wasn't going to like it. It was bland, stupid, mediocre, and I swear I am going to lose it if I get another ridiculous pop culture reference just so the manga could seem more "interesting." I have never hated a manga so much as I do this one. And if I ever did, it's not coming to mind. After reading this, I'm surprised I can keep functional enough to write out a review. There was nothing worthwhile about this. I mean, vampire cheerleaders who only wanted to have sex and a goth chick with a sister who turned into a werewolf and also wants to have sex because she's a "bitch in heat?" Seriously, Adam Arnold, if you wanted to write porn than do so! Don't come up with such pathetic attempts to make a manga out of shit.

The artwork is nice. Well, the first half anyway. Shiei, the artist who drew Vampire Cheerleaders, did a fantastic job. I love how smooth the artwork was and I love how gorgeous many of the scenes looked... even if most of it was in a building. Shiei's art was beautiful to look at and that's about the only positive thing I can say about this book. Comipa, on the other hand, the artist who drew Paranormal Mystery Squad (P.M.S. being it's acronym... yeah, stupid, I know), did a rather lousy job. Her artwork seemed so sloppy. Everything was cluttered together and it was difficult to make out what was going on. Not to mention I did not enjoy how the characters were drawn. They looked like they were all stoned... but considering they were all cardboard cut-outs of what characters should be with no personalities whatsoever... maybe that was intentional. In short, not a fan of Comipa's art style.

Not even going to dive real deep into the characters because all of the females (and I am not exaggerating when I say ALL) are just a bunch of stereotypes (being popular, being bitchy, being stupid, etc.) who just thought about getting laid. Somethings thinking about blood. Basically, the characters blew.

I am not sure if you would still want to read this manga after I bashed the living hell out of it but if you are curious enough, go ahead. You... might... like it... I guess... I wouldn't hold my breath, though. Check it out of the library first. Because... I don't think you would want to add this to your collection. There's another volume after this but I am NOT going to read it. I can't put myself through anymore crap. Ugh! I am going to go clean my brain out with comics that are worth my time. I advise you to do the same once you are done with this... whatever THIS is.

I used to see this series in the back pages of Amazing Agent Luna and other Seven Seas manga back in the day and I didn't give it much thought. I finally got to read this in its entirety on BookWalker a year ago when they made their OEL titles for free during June and July, so I hopped onto the chance to read it, and well, it's not that great.

Based on what is shown in the contents of the book, it's painfully obvious that this was written by a man who does not seem to know a thing or two about women, and whatever knowledge he has comes from porn and Japanese hentai. The plotline was so irritating. The characters were so bad. The main character, Lori Thurston is a stereotypical high school senior girl, caring about Cheerleading (Don't you have other things to worry about? Cheerleading is pretty trivial). She seems to be a bimbo. The other girls are bimbos too, as they only care about cheerleading and sleeping around with the school football team. Heather was the character I sort of liked until her transformation. It hurt to read where Heather was transformed into a vampire and she glamoured her parents in rebellion (Like yeah, they were so strict, but do you have to go so far to put your parents into a hypnotic state? They're still your parents). Another part that was cringe was when Leonard, Heathers best friend, finds out about the true identity of the Cheerleaders, instead of reporting to the police about this whole thing, he falls for Lori's Operation Booty Call plan and promises not to tell anyone about their identity while being surrounded by naked girls. It's just so dumb. Volume 2 was even more of a mess. Some Ancient Greek lore was shoved in suddenly and then they have a contest in Las Vegas where things go awry and Lori suddenly goes missing. The other girls aren't even concerned about her as they only care about the competition, which in the end, they didn't win. I didn't even read the Paranormal Mystery Squad sidebits because those didn't look interesting. The art wasn't aesthetically pleasing, too simple and lack of detail.

Overall, it's a zero out of five stars. Utter trash. Recommended to no one.

I know, the plot sounds super cheesy and campy, well, it is. But in the best of ways! The team behind Vampire Cheerleaders did everything right, they embraced the absurdity of it all and turned it into something hilarious. Instead of making it so ridiculous that it's annoying, they made it fun, which earns them 100 awesome points. I have to give major props to the illustrators who nailed every facial expression, every hilarious chibi moment and for making cartoons so damn sexy. It's fantastic!

An added bonus is that Vampire Cheerleaders Vol. 1 is actually a double feature, the first half is the story of the cheerleaders, the second is an entirely different comic titled Paranormal Mystery Squad. Each comic is highly entertaining, yet very different from one another. While humorous, Paranormal Mystery Squad is a bit more serious and more action-packed than Vampire Cheerleaders.

This comic definitely isn't for everyone (totally not kid-friendly), but if you dig dirty raunchy fun in manga form then I highly suggest picking up a copy of Vampire Cheerleaders Vol. 1.

Disclaimer: I skimmed most Paranormal Mystery Squad because I couldn't care less, so this is gonna be a review of Vampire Cheerleaders only.

The Bakerton High School cheerleading squad has a secret: they're vampires shocking, when one of the vamp girls turns out missing the squad has to induct not discover what happened with the missing vamp, oh no another cheerleader to their group. Heather Hartley is the chosen one, but the difficult part will be keeping her in line.

I hated pretty much everything, except for the art style. The "humor" and the fanservice, a bunch of high school girls were naked or talking/joking about sex for pretty much the entirety of the story. First of all, what is the thing with sexualizing teenage girls? Look, I know they're vampires and blah blah blah they're 70 years old at least the old squad, because Heather is no more than 15 yo but THEY ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL!!! It's strange and uncomfortable!!! I'm not even disappointed because AOI House: In Love Vol. 1 who is from the same author, is a piece of violent shit. So I'm pissed as fuck and this review is not making any sense. I was pretty much speechless when I finished VC. I never saw so many breasts and orgies in a book about freaking vampires.
I'm tired fuck it.

As this was free on Kindle, I suppose my expectations should not be high, but this wasn’t much good. It’s a doubleheader American manga which follows the Japanese conventions with a bit of comics conventions thrown in together with American settings and subject matter.

The first half, Vampire Cheerleaders, is as cheesy as the title implies but is okay on both the story (straightforward, amusing, no brain required) and the art (clear and expressive). It’s completely forgettable fare, but is deserving of a three star score.

The second half, Paranormal Mystery Squad, is a mess. The story is frantic and confused, the art much the same but very poor. The identikit characters have only two facial expressions throughout: mouth open or mouth closed. I know there’s a manga “look”, but this is just poor. This section doesn’t deserve more than a one star score.

This is very reminiscent of the pulp doubleheaders of yesteryear, and is just as binnable after a moment’s cheap entertainment.

Not what I wax expecting

I've read some manga in the recent past. This one has a few sexual overtones I wasn't expecting. The storyline was interesting enough and the characters seemed well thought out. It was the encouragement of sex between teenagers that bothered me. Don't get me wrong. I know it happens. I just don't think it needs to be encouraged. I like the monster hunting group in the second half of the book more than the vampire cheerleaders for sure. A series based on that group would definitely get me to continue reading this series.

Manga Americana circa 2011

I found this on Amazon a while back and finally took the opportunity to give it a try. Considering the price back then (as it is now as of a few minutes of ago) was absolutely free on Amazon Kindle the only thing it would take from me is my time to try it out. Now I understand fanservice is popular in manga but this one is far from subtle in either story (yes the book is split into two stories) as underwear becomes exposed and mentioning of intercourse come up though no actual hentai moments come up. As such if you are bothered by ecchi books with sexual themes (including werewolves in heat) in addition to their overall themes (being the best cheerleader/dealing with government hindering monster eliminations) then you might not like this book or the others in the series more than likely.

Now as for the book itself I found the Vampire Cheerleader story, although far simpler, was the better of the two stories feeling like it could fit into a Buffy the Vampire Slayer story with little trouble and the art was pleasing to the eyes though again it is full of fanservice moments. Meanwhile the Paranormal Mystery Squad was a little harder for me to read as the art style changes were not as appealing to me, such as some of the shading, when the other artist takes over and character's were not as likable at first though as the story continues on and they have more opportunities to show their uniqueness it becomes more enjoyable for at least most of them.

All in all it won't hurt to get the series considering it is free but don't expect any real great plots and do expect the series to have some mature moments just as likely as some pretty random banter.

It was pretty good

I’m not really a manga reader so when u read this, I was surprised at how good it was. The characters were funny, the action was pretty good and the pacing had a good flow. My only gripe is that some of the pages have to be read sideways on your phone as the font’s too small to read. Otherwise it was a good read. Definitely going to read the sequel.

The cheer squad have lost one of their own and needed to recruit a new cheerleader. Naive and sweet, Heather is the perfect fit.

This was a great ebook graphic novel. It was a little bit of fun, with some adult themes and swearing, with cute moments and I enjoyed it. The illustration was crisp and well executed, I could read so many in the style!

A vampire/supernatural manga.

Good black and white artwork. Reads Japanese style. A two in one book. First book is about a squad of vampire Cheetos and their new recruit Heather. Second book is about a group of cryptid hunters and their new government tag along.

It's fine

A slightly goofy comedy/action/thriller in the spirit of Buffy the vampire slayer and so many others. The art is solid and the writing works, if you like the spirit in which it was created worth reading.

A lot of fun and an easy read! The art was really well drawn, the story was funny and interesting. I liked most of the characters. The last few pages had a few extras including a wordsearch - thought it was a cute addition.

Volumes 1 and 2 are pretty damn good, volume 3 is okay (a change in artist and art style didn't help at all) and volume 4 is total garbage, in that it makes pretty much no sense. Wish they had kept Vampire Cheerleaders and Paranormal Mystery Squad as separate comics and not merged them together.

Where the story begins

So this is where the story begun. The numbering in Amazon Kindle seems off, so I read the book 4, then book 3, and just read the first book. The story quite interesting and rather humorous.

Here for the Vampire Cheerleaders and their weird relationship with one another and the world around them. It was a fun read, albeit not a particularly deep one and somewhat strange at times. Didn’t read Paranormal Mystery Squad.

This is not something that needs to be taken seriously.
It's over dramatic, very humoristic and over the top.
I read this for fun and I'm going to enjoy the second volume as well.
Because it's funny....

Manga. ‘Vampire Cheerleaders’ never gets past its own title, offering teen melodrama, mild titillation and forced humour with little real speculative edge. ‘Paranormal Mystery Squad’ has more potential, yet unfolds in a confused, cluttered mess while sketching its characters with a sledgehammer.

This manga was fun because you actually got 2 stories in 1, but I definitely enjoyed one way more than the other. I'm looking forward to where the stories go.
