A must read collection of fascinating short stories...
The book SAFE is a collection of short stories that are tightly, and very well written from a promising new author. She clearly thinks out of the box when developing her story arcs with the result that her stories are fresh and fascinating—some with twists (Waiting Room, The Donation, The Sublime Life), some with a dystopian slant (Safe, The Reward Lesson), some about affairs of the heart, romance and relationships (The End of a Marriage, Newborn, Dug Out, Casualties of Encounters, Indictment), and some about the human condition (Machine, The Heaven Or Hell Line). She also successfully tries her hand at science fiction (Things that go Bump in the Morning, The Dark Gland). Many of the stories are deliciously dark and creepy with several of them so sublimely creepy that I had to put the book down to take a break and shake off the ‘willies’. This collection demonstrates that Jenna Moquin is a creative and talented writer in several genres and is someone to watch!
