not sure if i like the art style here, it's quite rough and messy (TO ME), but the story seems pretty straightforward. the twist of the straight friend having slept with a man before to try it out hasn't actually added anything to the story yet; it's your typical unrequited love storyline so far, which i am a sucker for but i would've liked to see the selling point of this utilized more. hopefully, they will talk about it a bit more in the next volume

EDIT: the next two volumes (or at least their English versions) are not on goodreads, so I'll just put the rest of my thoughts here.
Both Vol2 and 3 are getting 1.5-2 stars. Not my favourite thing I ever read. The buildup to the actual relationship was very clunky, probably because it's such a short series; there wasn't much time for development. still, them getting together came out of the blue for me; i genuinely thought at some point they wouldn't actually get together and this would be a manga about toxic relationships and cutting off that weird friend who keeps sexually harassing you. which genuinely was what all their romantic/sexual encounters were. by now I know bl mangas often toe the line there, but this was just straight up rape at some point with one character literally fighting back and yelling at him to stop over and over again. and afterwards he gaslights himself into apologizing because his friend has liked him for 10 years and he didn't want to address it so he only has himself to blame which,,,, holy shit?? so yeah.

Review with spoilers, you've been warned.

A screenshot of one page from this manga appeared on my feed recently and i felt like reading the whole series. I thought at first i had read it before but i guess i didn't (i did read other works from the same artist though).

-the art is not amazing but it's a particular style specific to this mangaka and it has a melancholic old school vibe to it.
-the story is short (3 volumes), very typical (childhood friends to lover) but it has a slight variation : one of the main character (let's call him A) is straight but had a one gay night stand.
- character A goes from straight to bicurious to gay-for-you which was hard to follow. It happened that he was in fact in love (half platonically, half romantically) with his friend since high school (character B) too, and that was somehow sweet to me.
-there was lots of tiny little things reminiscent of that whole manga phase i had in highschool, and that felt nice. Had i read this series 10 years ago, i would have rolled my eyes at its similarities with all popular tropes in mangas, but because i read it after such a long time, i felt nostalgic.
- besides all that positive talk, the main thing that bothered me is that character B (gay/possibly gay for you, in love with character A for the past ten years), keep saying he wouldn't give up on character A. Even though it is supposed to be sweet, i felt like it was out of line. You don't get to force someone into a relationship just because you've had a crush on them for a long period of time. You aren't entitled to anything. Your crush doesn't how to date you because you've been quietly crushing on them... The one tiny redeeming thing i can think of is that since character A did in fact love character B since high school too (as revealed in the other volumes), one could argue that he must have sent subtle/subconscious signs entertaining character B's feeling... but that's far fetched.
-last point, this manga, featuring 2 adults (albeit young ones) was different from what i was used to read in high school (ie teenage characters).

In conclusion i feel like re-reading Kiss blue now.
