Dear Reader, Long before I wrote my sexy paranormal romances, I wrote traditional Regency romances as Debbie Raleigh. Now I’m thrilled to have them made available once more, as fresh and adventurous as ever… To avoid the taint of her mother’s scandalous reputation, Miss Kate Frazer stifles her naturally high spirits to become a model of propriety. But when she is rewarded with a suitor who cares only for her dowry—and leaves her waiting at the altar on her wedding day—Kate determines that she will live as she chooses. Her first adventure will be a trip to London under an assumed name to enjoy the city’s delights. And woe to anyone who stands in her way—particularly her fiancé…
Lucius Calfield wasn’t looking forward to wedlock with the tediously suitable Kate Frazer. Still, he is chagrined when a violent storm makes him late for the ceremony. But embarrassment turns to astonishment when he finds that his fiancée has vanished entirely! And that is the least of the surprises his unaccountably changed—and unexpectedly irresistible bride—has in store…
I’ve fallen in love with these timeless books all over again, and believe that you will too.
A fairly predictable ho hum Regency romance novella. The high spirited Miss Kate Frazer has toned down her behaviour and scored a suitor—who leaves her at the altar. Lucius Caulfield, the erstwhile bridegroom has been delayed by a storm. His wedding to Kate’s dowry is off and Kate’s disappeared. Of course he’s in for the surprise of his life.

Miss Frazer's Adventure is one of the books made available again, and I am very glad that it is because it's a great story.
Kate Frazer comes from a wealthy family. Wealthy in monetary units, not so much in happiness. Her father keeps her under a very strict thumb, he wants her to be prim and proper and to show not one bit of her mother's wild side. She has even agreed to marry a titled man, just to keep her father happy. He wants her to have a 'title' and the man in question needs her huge dowry to cover huge debts his father racked up before his death.
The man in question is the Earl of Calfield, Lucius Jonathan Duval. Known to his friends as Luce. He is content enough to marry Kate, she's a plain, innocent young woman, and he knows that she won't give him a difficult life. He's pretty complacent about the marriage, so much so that when there is a slight chance he might be delayed to his wedding, he thinks the bride won't mind. He assumes she is itching to marry him. Unfortunately the delay was more than just a little one, and after an hour of standing at the altar, humiliated beyond words, Kate leaves the church vowing that she will never marry the man, or any man for that matter. She is so fed up of being walked all over, made to be prim and proper, and she has had enough. She decides to go to London and have all the adventures she's dreamed of. Of course she can't tell her father of her plans, so she tells lies and says she is going to stay with a relative in Surrey to recover from the humiliation of being jilted. Then off to London she goes.
What she doesn't expect is for Luce to find her. What he doesn't expect is for her to be a totally different woman. Gone is the plain Jane, and in her place is a beautiful, curvy woman wearing bright coloured dresses with not so modest neck lines. A woman who isn't meek and mild, but one who is vivacious and wanting to enjoy life to the full. A positively desirable woman, one that he is even more determined to marry. She knows that he could tell her father where she is, and makes a deal with him that if he keeps quiet, she will let him show her her all the adventures that London has to offer. She still refuses to marry him, but he hopes that the time that they spend together will prove to his benefit and that his charm will win her over. Does it though?
This was a beautiful sweet story. If you are looking for a sexy read, this one is not for you. But even without the sex scenes, you can easily tell how passionate Luce and Kate are. It was a joy to read of the various exploits the two get up to including a trip to the races which was very reminiscent of the scene in My Fair Lady. Of course there were a couple of emotional scenes, what romance is complete without them, and one scene where Luce gets to play the hero and impress Kate immensely. I really enjoyed how both characters learned more about themselves and showed that they could be better people than they thought they were.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
When Kate finds herself jilted at the altar, she gets her chance to turn this into the adventure she always wanted, and she´s not waiting for anyone. With a plan she´s away to London as soon as she can escape her fathers attention. She didn´t expect the groom-to-be to follow her, though. Luce wasn´t too enthusiastic about his pending marriage, which resulted in his tarrying. Now that the bride is gone, though, he can´t forget about her. Will she give him a second chance, or is this pursuit a lost cause? Historical romance, fluff and feelings in a cute mix. Disclaimer; I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I ended up being kind of frustrated with this one. I hate to write negative stuff, because I don’t want to turn people away from the story. I liked the writing, plot and characters. They just frustrated me. So many times I wanted to smack Kate, and even Luce. I thought they had good chemistry and Luce was great. He has quite a bit of patience and at times I wish he would have played a little more hard to get.
Kate is jilted at the altar, before waiting around to see if there happened to be a logical reason she skips off to London under an alias. She sees this as her first chance at real freedom. She literally throws caution to the wind and decides she’ll do whatever she pleases, regardless the consequences. At first I thought this was great. Good for her. After awhile her blind determination got a bit irritating. Pretty early on Luce catches up with her and its plain from the get go that he made a mistake and owns up to it. He won me over early on and really begins a desperate pursuit to win Kate back. After awhile I began to think Kate was just too stubborn. I can’t imagine them having a happy marriage when she is so slow to forgive and even slower to show any true emotion. I couldn’t understand why Luce was so willing to pursue her when she was constantly refusing him and giving no sign of wavering. In this instance I’m all for the “if you love them let them go” theory. I appreciate him showing her his true intentions; attempting to woo her and making it plan how he feels about her. After all that, he needs to let her go and let her do the work.
I really wanted Kate to be the one to run after Luce and beg for forgiveness. Even when she thinks she’s lost him and he AGAIN shows up, she still pushes him away. I just wanted to smack her. I would have liked to see some softening on her part, show her swallow her pride and do some grand gesture to win him back. After everything he’d done she just treated him so poorly.
Having said all that, I really enjoyed the story. I was sucked in from the beginning. I liked Kate and Luce, they had good chemistry and some fun tension-filled moments. The story was nice, moved along well and is one I would probably re-read. I even liked that they frustrated me, it’s fun to have a little of that once in awhile.

I genuinely enjoyed this story but got frustrated with Kate and her refusal to accept that Lucius's affections were true and that it wasn't just her dowry he was after. In all sincerity, I understood her doubts but her own feelings for Lucius's should have overcome some of them. Of course they eventually did but it was way too long in coming and my heart just went out to Lucius for all Kate put him through. Just the same, I truly did enjoy this book despite Kate being so stubborn. The conversations between them were often amusing and Lucius's courtship of Kate was delightful.
I was lucky enough to get this from Netgalley. Sad for me that this book just did not do anything for me. The description of the book was really good, but as I read this book I couldn't get into the characters, and for me the story was slow. This book was not for me but that is not to say that it wasn't a good book for someone else.
What really drew me to this book was the fun and unique continuity of each chapter or segment to the next. It's a writing style I don't encounter very often, but really enjoy. I can only imagine the level of embarrassment Kate had to endure at her own wedding. It was so entertaining to read about her reaction afterwards. It had me grinning from ear to ear.
I enjoyed the humor in this, but felt like there was more innuendo than seemed to fit in a period piece. I also found Luce’s possessiveness overbearing and thought Kate’s completely sudden transformation of character was a little unrealistic.
I have finally realized that my taste in romance novels does not mimic others. I see tons of 4 star reviews and I barely made it through this book. There just really wasn't any strong story or character development. The premise was good, but I did not care what happened to the characters nor was I invested in the story in the least. It was missing the emotional aspects of what draws a reader in. Heat rating of 0 . Two stars because I finished the book
Well written, sweet romance. (I'm pretty sure though, no young lady would have been able to travel around for several weeks by herself in the Regency era!)

Originally published under her author name Debbie Raleigh - Miss Frazer's Adventure brings Luc and Kate back to life once again.
I really liked Kate as a character because she's the kind of female I think any woman can really relate to when you reach your capacity for tolerating being what others expect of you.
I liked watching Kate re-discover and remake herself and watching Luc attempt to redeem her opinion of him and earn her affections despite how he treated her before.
Although I didn't care for how he thought of her in the beginning and only liked her once she was the va-voom version of her previous self I still liked them as a couple and I enjoyed their sweet journey together.
To me, it doesn't matter what name this author writes under- Debbie Raleigh or Alexandra Ivy. Either way, her novels are wonderful. I just need to see her name written and I'm already half way to buying it.
I love Miss Frazer and her journey of self-discovery and the fact that Luc is almost struck dumb considering that he assumes her to be a staid woman with not much more to offer but a good dowery.

Before she became a recognized paranormal romance author, Alexandra Ivy had begun to write short historical romances under the penname Debbie Raleigh. It’s one of her romances that her publisher has decided to republish this month under the name Alexandra Ivy, initially published in 2005.
Miss Frazer’s Adventure is a very good surprise. We recognize Alexandra Ivy’s hand, with an historical voice. We have no trouble being immerse in her universe. She keeps a flowing and lively style having the reader easily turning the pages till the end.
The story begins when Kate Frazer is calmly waiting for the arrival of Lucius Calfield, our hero, for the celebration of their wedding. He won’t come. We’ll learn soon after that he had a contretemps but he intended to keep his commitments. But this contretemps awoke a huge desire of rebellion in our heroine, who decides she needs adventure. Help by her cousin, she’s going to London incognito to discover what it means to be free. That’s where the hero finds her and he’ll have to grovel a lot to be forgiven. I must tell that I love stories where the hero has to grovel to be forgiven. And with Miss Frazer’s Adventure I wasn’t disappointed.
I liked the heroine. She’s always lived under the yoke of her father with her mother’s ghost above her. The latter fled to France with a young man while she was married, creating an unprecedented scandal and inciting her husband to closely watch her daughter. Knowing it’s the heroine’s dowry that prompted the meeting between our heroes by Kate’s father, she was ready to marry as she was asked to. But the humiliation suffered is too big for her. I understand her. And I understand she has trouble forgiving Lucius, even if she wanted it. The hero is a bit obtuse LOL. He takes time before understanding how much she was humiliated, and takes time before redeeming and presenting his true apologies to her. We feel he’s attracted to the heroine and we understand he was attracted as soon as they met, a fact Kate didn’t know of course. She’ll have trouble trusting him again.
Miss Frazer’s Adventure is a classical historical romance. And there’s no love scene. But the novel is sensual all the same. However if you want suggestive scenes, go on your way. But if like me the lack of love scenes doesn’t disturb you, you’ll have an excellent moment.
The secondary characters are not much present but have their importance, especially a rival of the hero. I appreciated that this rival wasn’t someone manipulating or a liar, which make the reader understand the heroine chooses the hero in full knowledge of the cause.
The novel contains humor and emotion. The love story is plausible, and the heroine, in spite of her rebellion, doesn’t act rashly and is conscious about what she can or cannot do in the period she’s living in.
To conclude, I recommend this little classical historical romance.
Lucius (Luce) Jonathan Duval, Earl of Calfield, did not show up at the church to wed Miss Katherine (Kate) Frazer, daughter of Sir Archibald Frazer. In possession of a large dowry, Kate knows that her dowry is the only reason Luce has asked for her hand. A shy, plain looking young woman, Luce wasn’t truly intrigued by Kate. However, his father had left his estate and family in debt and Luce is being forced to marry a wealthy woman. He is not happy to have to enter into a forced marriage with a stranger of sorts. However, on their wedding day, Luce did not show up at the church and Kate was left jilted and humiliated. In truth, Luce was unable to be at the wedding because the ship, Windsong, on which he was sailing had met with some bad weather delaying his arrival at the wedding. Knowing that he has a duty to apologize to Kate so the wedding can take place, Luce sets out to woo her.
Kate’s mother had abandoned her and her father to live with her lover in Paris. Kate has always been a good, biddable daughter, but now she is ready to break free. Thus, she has decided to go to London and experience all that it has to offer. While there, she plans to call herself Mrs. Katherine Freemont, a widow.
In London, Kate meets a handsome and wealthy man, Lord Thorpe. He is every bit the gentleman and squires Kate around London.
But when Kate spots Luce in London, she is furious at him as he is irritated at having to find her. He thinks she should still be in Kent waiting for him to show up to wed her. When he realizes that the shy, rather dowdy woman has blossomed into a gorgeous woman wearing lovely gowns, he realizes that he has truly wrong about her. He finds that he is going to have to work very hard to try and win her back.
This is a clever, clean, fun romance novel. I enjoyed reading how Kate and Luce finally become friends and then who knows if that will lead to a more permanent relationship.

This was a sweet and very innocent read. Kate has been jilted. Left at the alter and after two hours goes home and realizes that she is tired of being bullied and controlled by her father or wanted solely for her dowery. So she hatches a plan and runs off to London for an adventure. Her fiancé totally believes that it would be OK to be late to his own wedding, that it couldn't be helped due to his business. That when Luc explains everything to his bland fiancé that she will be biddable and ok with the delay. HA! He quickly discovers that his fiancé isn't biddable or even waiting for him. He hunts her down and finds her flirting with a handsome rake in a hotel garden dressed in vibrant colors and revealing more skin than she ever did before. When she tells him that she no longer wants to marry him, he comes to realize that he might have erred more so than he thought. So he sets out to persuade her to marry him and still get the adventure she hungers for. Along the way, he comes to realize that she is the only woman for him but she still won't have him. She doesn't trust his motives and doesn't want to return to Kent to the life she left behind.
They were sweet and their story was enjoyable but there was absolutely no passion! Zero. Nada. A few kisses and I think he had an erection at some point but nothing beyond that. It was sweet and it was cute and I totally get why they didn't give in to passion. But at the very end, while in her room late at night with the house asleep, she was in his arms and they confessed their love they so could have had a passionate moment. But no.
They had a great emotional scene when she goes to his estate in Kent and he is so cold to her but I needed more sparks. More (or any) passion and this one didn't have it. It is a re-issue so it could have been spiced up. I wanted more from them.
This was a NetGalley book offered in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute story with an interesting premise with solid writing - however I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing from this story.
The characters were interesting - although I had to admit this was one of the rare cases when I liked the Hero more than I did the Heroine. Luce set his pride aside to admit his wrong-doing and he doggedly pursued Kate in the hopes of winning her back. Kate however.. seemed to always keep him at arms length despite all of the things he did for her. I understand she was hurt by what happened at the alter, and hurt by feeling like she had never truly lived her life, but it seemed as though she was keen to take advantage of Luce for her own ends. Instead of being endearing, her stubbornness was so off-putting that I actually found myself hoping that Luce would finally toss her aside for someone else.
I also felt that these two were severely lacking in passion. Yes there were a few kisses, and it was enjoyable to see them go from near hostile behaviors to friendship, but I felt even when the opportunity was ripe for something to explode between them - it never happened. Which made me wonder just what made Luce so determined to have her, and made me feel that he was more attracted to her dowry than he supposedly was to her. Yes Lord Thorpe's appearance made Luce jealous, but I felt like the author didn't really take the time to develop that angle much either.
Overall, I'm sure this novel will appeal to people who enjoy a well-written historical romance. Especially one that doesn't lead to any graphic sexual scenes.

Who doesn't want adventure? Kate was left at the altar and she knows that this is her time to get away from her father to experience life. She goes off to London and has a ball of a time that is til her future husband finds her. Can Luce make up for what he did and truly make her believe that she could be happy with him. Kate doesn't want to go back home and just settle she wants to be loved and to be able to make up her own mind about her future. Can she accept that Luce really wants her to be happy? Luce knows that he will do whatever it takes to make her happy, she is just so stubborn and no matter what he seems to do it drives her further away. Just when he thinks that he has won her over he has to go back home and he begs Kate to come with him but she won't. He is heartbroken as he has come to realize that he has fallen in love with her and he knows that he could never find another Kate. Will Kate accept the word of a man that she doesn't know that Luce needs her or will she stay in London for longer? She has just had so much fun been away from her father and now she knows that she will never have to follow his rules again. She is her own persn and she gets to do what she wants. Does she really know if she can trust Luce again and that he wants her and not just her money? A great story made me cry happy tears. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.
Miss Frazer's Adventure by Alexandra Ivy is a reprint of an earlier work written under the name Debbie Raleigh. Miss Kate Frazer has long been plagued by her scandalous mother’s reputation. She forces herself to be a model of propriety, but abandons the effort to be someone she is not when left at the alter by her fiancee Lucius (Luce) Calfield.
Miss Frazer is determined to have adventures! Assuming a false name to protect her reputations (She’s not ready to throw it all away) she sets out to explore London and all it has to offer. Unfortunately, she’s off before she realizes her fiancee did not purposely abandon her. Unexpected and uncontrollable events made him too late to his own wedding. Now Luce must find Kate, but will he like the new and more daring Kate?
This story was cute and Ms. Ivy was and is a good writer. Kate frustrated me that she wouldn’t give Luce a fair chance to make amends. She was pretty stubborn while Luce was humble and seemed to genuinely love her. This stubborn dance they were caught in before reconciling started to drag the story. I wanted some resolution,
Overall, Miss Frazer’s Adventure was enjoyable. It was sweet and innocent but not anything unique. I am not sure I ever believe the passion between Luce and Kate. I never really felt any emotions from the story or got 100% engaged. I think this is why I can say it was a pleasant read but never knocked my socks off.

Over all I liked this book and enjoyed reading it. The hero and the heroine are very likable characters and I loved to see how they grow to respect and love each other - despite their rather, well, let's say...spectacular...start with an abandoned bride and a missing groom and...well, that kind of thing.
Kate is a very sweet person and you feel with her when she finally stretches her wings and starts to live. I liked Lucius as well because he respected her wishes and just accepted the situation as a kind of challenge instead of shipping her back home to her father even though it is not always easy for him to go along with her ideas and wishes.
My problem was that reality reared its ugly head far too often and asked me how this or that was possible and I couldn't really fall for the book as I usually do because of that evne though I still enjoyed it. This may sound stupid or fussy and it doesn't happen to me very often but in this case it did and it spoiled the book a bit for me when I always thought why this or that was possible or how Kate might have done something. There were just a bit too many inconsistencies that kept popping up that I couldn't ignore them despite the nice story.
Apart from that though, the book is a nice and easy read with many twists and turns, well written and enjoyable.
He‰Ûªs late for very important date! But Lucius Calfield isn‰Ûªt just late for his wedding; he has jilted his bride. His bride, Kate Frazer, has always been prim, proper, and dutiful (making an attempt to be nothing like her scandalous mother), but this humiliation is beyond enough. By the time Lucius arrives to try to explain what happened to make him so late, Kate has thrown caution to the wind and run away to London to enjoy an adventure.
Somehow, Luce tracks Kate to London. When he catches up with her, she seems different, not so tedious, prim, and proper. He tries to apologize for his mistake and convince her to come back with him and marry. She resists (fervently) and their adventure together begins. Luce tries hard to win her; Kate tries hard to resist. At one point, he thinks he has lost her to another. He goes home without her to try to set his family and estate right. He comes back to try one more time. What happens? I‰Ûªll leave it to you to read and enjoy the rest of the story.
Miss Frazer‰Ûªs Adventure was a light and enjoyable story. The characters are relatable and likeable. The end of the story‰Û_well, you‰Ûªll see.

Kate Frazer has had her spirits dampened by her father because she looks like her mother that ran away with her lover. Kate's father arranges a marriage with a man that needs her dowry. On their wedding day, Lucius Califeld is absent. Lucius was waiting out a storm and couldn't sail until it passed. Kate decides to have an adventure and to get out from under her father's smothering thumb. When Lucius arrives, he discovers his fiance has vanished and tracks her to London and finds her having a grand adventure as a widow.
Lucius has to woo his fiance as she leads him on a merry adventure. Can they find their true love?
I found this to be a delightfully sweet and innocent read. Kate has decided that she deserves love and wants to wear clothing her father didn't pick out for her. Lucius expects to find the reserved young woman he met at their betrothal but finds Kate in a hotel garden flirting with a rake in a crimson gown.
I enjoyed reading this book.
