On board the Anna, Amanda suspects that something fishy is going on. But when her investigation of the peculiar all-female Russian crew fails to uncover anything other than more speculation, she decides it's time to stop playing detective and face her real problem--a man she shouldn't want but can't live without. Will Amanda find a way to reconcile her feelings for Dalhu? Will Dalhu find a way to redeem himself in Amanda's eyes? Will Andrew find Bhathian's long-lost lover and child?
Amanda and Dalhu's story culminates in Dark Enemy Redeemed, and the characters embark on a new adventure in Book 7: Dark Warrior Enthralled
I just can’t get enough of this series, this book was excellent as were the ones before it. The characters come off the pages, their personalities all so different, yet larger than life. They certainly know how to live the good life.
You can expect lots of falling in love, fighting, good hearted banter, love, some torture. Let’s say a bit of everything. The sex scenes are quite hot. There’s swearing, so if you don’t like these things, beware.
I’m off to start my next book, sorry about the short review, but I just want to get back to the series.
I. T. Lucas needs a good editor. Besides stealing characteristics of JR Ward, Christine Feehan, Lynsey Sands amount a few of the popular paranormal romance writers, the author could have created a decent series of 3 or 4 real size books but there is barely any editing. Everything from bad grammar to spelling errors not to mention endless, needless filler that should have been condensed. I must admit my biggest peeve of the character theft was her character Andrew steal 'TRUE' from the BDB Vishous. Andrew is not cool enough to pull it off and it sounds pushed and lame. I am glad I am reading this through kindle unlimited as it would have pissed me off to not have any closure in any of these books. It just runs on and on.
Dark Enemy: Taken – Captive – Redeemed Children of the Gods books 4-6 I.T. Lucas
Series Summary: From the beginning of time there have been near immortal beings who have molded humanity, been the object of worship but who as a race almost destroyed each other and human civilization. Now only two Gods are left both sworn enemies: The followers of Morta, the Doomers and the descendants of the Goddess Annani.
Lucas continues her unique addicting series with Amanda and Dalhu’s obstacle filled love story. It’s intense and at times dark but she always instills enough light for hope. Her dialogue is fast paced and her plot is engaging and interesting giving a freshness to this often stale genre. Her world building is unique and her characters may be ancient but surround themselves with all the 21st century gadgets plus her hints to future stories will lure readers (well this reader anyway) into purchasing the next set of books in the series. Books 4 through 6 are Amanda and Dalhu’s story and must be read in order. In these installations readers will learn more about the history of these two remaining clans of immortals, will get more intimate with the Goddess and her family and will eventually get hints about what’s to come. The audible edition is once again left in the capable voice of Charles Lawrence’s deep, sexy, satisfying baritone who expertly gives readers a deeper experience by intoning the emotions vocally and does a fantastic job portraying each and every character, human, immortal, male and female.
SUMMARY: Amanda is the daughter of the last remaining female deity, Annani descendant from a race who ages ago were almost eradicated by civil war. She’s the youngest and for centuries has been known as the “party princess” but has redeemed herself lately when she became a scientist with the sole purpose of finding dormant immortals and save her race by providing them with mates. When she’s abducted by a member of her clan’s mortal enemy, the doomers, she’s afraid of death or worse. But that’s not what her captor has in mind at all. Dalhu has long known the doomers philosophy is wrong and when he sees the photograph of a female immortal of his clan’s enemy he’s smitten. When he sees her in person he knows she’s his destiny. Now only if he can figure a way to keep her.
Yes, I read another in this series. Clearly, I like it. The characters are well-developed, the story moves along quickly, and I want to know what happens next. Plus, as I've mentioned before, there's paranormal stuff and sex. So. You don't always have to read a highbrow novel, you know?! :)
4 stars. Okay... This series is addictive even if it is frustrating that no books is self contained. You have to keep reading to get the information IT Lucas has been teasing you with since the beginning.
Amanda, the daughter of a goddess, was kidnapped by a member of the opposition, by Dalhu (think a montegue and capulet situation but with more years and more confusion). Dalhu has waited his whole life for a woman like Amanda, so he had decided to leave his past behind and take her with him when the opportunity presented itself. He falls head over heels for the demigod.
Whilst Amanda has developed strong feelings for Dalhu, a man who was responsible for the death of her nephew, she can't let go of the tragedy, or his involvement in it.
Dalhu is the captive and Amanda is free but can she bring herself to be with him? Can she convince anyone else that Dalhu is no longer a threat to them or their way of life? And if so, can she let herself love a man who betrayed her family so?
This is so far my favourite story. Filled with difficult choices and messy family situations it shows that not all love stories are simple. Not all love is without heartbreak but if someone's heart is pure they are worth it. And sometimes someone who has made big mistakes in their past has to pay for them even if that means embracing pain.
I must admit whilst the continued story is clever, fun, sexy, challenging and interesting it also is frustrating as hell because the story is continually ongoing. It's not a trilogy is the traditional sense and it's not a series with stand alone books. Oh no, this book is basically a continuation of where the last book left off. And it means you are continually asking questions that you don't get answers to unless you keep reading. I mean it's clever in some ways but so frustrating in others. Either way I begrudgingly admit I can't stop reading them.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This one stayed for the longest time on Amanda’s conundrum concerning Dalhu. It was like 2/3 of the whole book, with her thoughts just repeated themselves, …being expressed in different ways. She just whined and whined. I don’t know if it was a mistake, but Amanda’s confident personality was missing here. She said and did a lot of dumb things that take from her “Dr. Donaki” image. She’s very immature and makes dumb decisions with idiotic reasoning behind it and I can’t reconcile that with the Renowned Professor.
Kian still has a stick up his ass the majority of the book. Andrew, …well, I dislike him because he switches his attention and affections so fast. It’s like he doesn’t care who he gets, as long as it’s an immortal. They may not be how the author intended it to be, but that’s how he comes off. He’s constantly saying he’s a better man than Dalhu, but they were raised in totally different ways, and Dalhu had no choice about it on that front.
Anandar is still amazing and hilarious, more so in this book. We get to see more of his personality and kind heart here.
We get a little snippet of Bathian’s background and probably the reason that he’s always scowling.
Syssi has a premonition, something she has not actually had in the entire series thus far. All there has been previously were feelings of foreboding and dread. I thought the dreams she was having I book 1 was going to turn out to be premonition after discovering Annani had premonition via dreams, but they have been glossed over as if they never existed.
Anyway, I’m on to the next one, see my highlights and notes on Goodreads for details. Happy reading!
Loved it. I'm obsessed with the whole series so far. The author should and totally could making this into a show on netflix! I would be the first to purchase even if the only way I could watch it is if I paid outright for the opportunity to see. It has such a strong storyline & it's impossible to not fall in love with every character that has been introduced. It might be hard finding such tall muscular attractive males and women but I think it has the bones of being just as good maybe better depending on finding the perfect actors for the show could be just as good & as popular as true blood. Maybe even better. It has the fun humor, sex, overly attractive characters, action lots of fun bloody action & fighting. A war storyline with many couples getting introduced and seeing the characters meet there fated mates. Getting to get excited about alot of the characters find love in strange exciting ways. Plus finding more dormants needing to pull through to transitioning. Doomers bringing the evil into humanity while annanni blessing us humans with her light & everything positive force for humanity. Just a thought. I'm excited to hear nathalie's character & I have a feeling her & Andrew will end up together. Maybe even the dark haired daughter in syssi's vision will be from dark haired nathalie 💘
...but it feels like there is never a conclusion to the books. Like a TV soap opera...tune in next week to see what happens.
I actually love the overarching story. I. T. Lucas is an excellent writer (from what I've read so far)...the world-building is awesome and the character development is excellent. (I said that in a previous review, but it continues to be true.)
I am so in love Dalhu! I love that he's still roughly the same person, but he's tempered by Amanda's love. And I love how Amanda's walls have been broken down by Dalhu's unwavering love for her. We should all experience that kind of love in our lives!
Anandur is by far my favorite! I love his sense of humor! (You only have to read the bachelor party scene to see what I mean !). He is sort of the comic relief in all of the stories thus far.
This is turning out to be one of the best series I've read so far. I think I'd like it better if there was some conclusion at the end of each story, instead of "the end for now," but I'm so hooked, I'm pretty sure I'll be reading this one until the end.
Amanda takes a trip away to get her head on straight and during her stay on the Yacht that Alex lets her borrow, she starts finding herself curious about Alex's dealings and what he can be doing on the Yacht. Upon return she mentions her findings and curiosity to Dalhu, who immediately states what he and the rest of the guys were just discussing. I'm looking forward to seeing what revelations become of this. Dalhu and Amanda are relationship goals. Dalhu is willing to do anything to prove his loyalty to Amanda and the clan and to prove his devotion and love to Amanda. They are indeed fated to be together and everyone can see it and everyone knows it. Even Kian is warming up to Dalhu and can't help but respect the man for his love of Amanda. Andrew too concedes to Dalhu, knowing that Dalhu's love is true and may be the better man for Amanda. Amanda comes up with a way to make it so Dalhu is accepted into the clan and can seek redemption for his part in Mark's death. Dalhu faces the punishment straight on. Such a man of honor, and devotion. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Some very inaccurate things, but overall a very great book
Red hair is a recessive gene, not dominant. This is basic genetics. Also, it's sometimes very annoying how the author's lack of knowledge of the outside world shines. Most European nations are members of NATO, like the US, with armies and strong economies, summing up that the fate of the world is at the hands of the Americans to the extreme point made in the book is a bit over the top, insensitive to other cultures, and wrong. There are also some movements for the better even in those regions under the Doomer rule, there are advanced Asian countries like Japan and Korea where women are treated poorly, but the society is advanced, then there is Australia and New Zealand... Despite these oversights in the story, where it seems like only the US exists with Europe being useless and then MENA, Pakistan, Russia and India being the Doomer territory, it's a very well written series, I will continue reading,it's not like I can put it down...
Amanda and Dalhu finally have their HEA, and it is everything I wished for after they first appeared in Book 2. I wasn't sure how their relationship was going to work out, Kian so against it, Amanda herself having doubts, Syssi on her side sometimes (?) but not always a very effective advocate.... It took some time for our erstwhile lovers to find their place in society: Dalhu not quite evil enough to be a true Doomer even though he has been one for over 800 years, and Amanda the 200 year old daughter of a goddess who occasionally acts likes teenager. Annani eventually became helpful in her own way, as well. Lots of surprises, without giving away any spoilers.
Dark Enemy: Redeemed KU/purchased 361 pgs ***.* 3/21/21
3.5 stars. Story was more active and more interesting. Amanda and Dahlu furthered their relationship and have a good beginning. Kian & Syssi grow closer and learn more about each other, getting married, beginning their honeymoon. Dahlu undergoes punishment that he gladly accepts for his role in Mark’s death and to hopefully get some restitution from the clan so he can be a part of Amanda’s life. The story flowed better, there was less filler and we got the beginning story of the new enemy that has come to replace Dahlu. Sex scenes were okay, could be better.
I only read it to finally get the conclusion of the first 3 books. I didn't like Amanda. Dalhu wasn't my favorite, and I don't think Amanda deserved his commitment and insta love. I liked Andrew but I'm not going to continue the series. All the action scenes, the few there even are, happen off screen and leave only a few conversations between various people and lots of sex between the main couple. I was hoping Syssi would would stop being so meek with the wedding stress and she disappointed me in that regard. As much as she's cried over the last 6 books I kept waiting for a pregnancy to be announced. Nope. No pregnancy. She's just weepy.
I GUESS I DIDNT LEAVE REVIEWS THE FIRST TIME I READ THESE BOOKS! They are so very good I probably just wanted to get to the next book. But trust me you need to read this series. I have over 50 of the books all the goddesses books and the match books so I think I only need about 42 or something like that more to finish off the collection. And that includes audiobooks. I stopped reading them for awhile. Now that she has so many more wrote I decided to start over from the beginning at the beginning of 2025. I read everyday so it won’t take me that long to get through all the books. I don’t watch television so it’s reading for me. HAPPY READING EVERYONE!
Amanda's feelings for Dalhu are completely overshadowed by his involvement in the death of her nephew. She is afraid she will never be able to forgive Dalhu for Mark's death and ruin their future together. With Amanda and Dalhu's story occupying the majority of this book, there are still other mysterious facts surfacing drawing the reader's attention in another direction and potentially another revelation with more drama. Could there be more romance in the air for another family member? I can't wait to see. Great Read!!!!!
In the final installment of Dalhu and Amanda's story, Kian finally accepts that her sister is in love with a Doomer. A Doomer who has vowed to keep her safe and happy. His pledge makes him a target to his previous allies and an asset to Kian's clan. Meanwhile, Amanda is running from her emotions and the only man who can give her a HEA. Then, there is Bhathian and his search for his lost love and child. An endeavor that will put Andrew's skills to the test and start a whole new adventure for the immortal clan...
At least I was slated all of the details of an elaborate wedding. What's going on with Andrew and Bridget? Like how all of the characters don't waste time when their carnal nature kicks in. That's right, tell your partners exactly what you want, and the characters waste no time in doing that. I think I have a different view of Amanda, hmmm....she's irrational and don't think about the consequences. Not sure I can call in love with someone that ordered the murder of a family member.
So again I am writing a review after reading the three books about Amanda and Dalhu's story and I must admit I was ready to put this book down before finishing it, there were so many filler chapters that I grew bored and the whole thing about Amanda playing detective, I guess it leads somewhere but you do not find out on this book. What I did like was how Dalhu was able to redeem himself and how he was accepted without hesitation by Kian and his clan; one thing I will always complain about: do we really still need Sissy's POV? Please make it stop.
Great story! Definitely one of my favorite books in this series. I have a soft spot for Amanda and Dalhu! Being the two most independent immortals, they both are seeking acceptance from others. Accepting responsibility for his past as a Doomer, Dalhu gives information on the clans enemies. Further, he submits to punishment for his part in the death of Amanda's nephew as a means of providing Kian and Amanda with proof of his sincerity. He wants a family with Amanda!!! I am looking forward to reading more!
A lot more of the intricacies of the Immortal life are shown in this installment of the long running saga. The grim punishment Dalhu is meted out in order to atone for his part in Mark's murder, is a case in point. Rituals from centuries before are carried out with little to no amendment for the passing of time. Still, it appears that one of the Guardians is on his side.
An intriguing prospect of another female Immortal has piqued Andrew's curiosity. But that's a tale for the next book!
When Amanda truly understands the gravity of her intended mate and that he's responsible for her cousins murder. She takes off, but is even more miserable. When she comes home, she moves into Dalhu prison with him. But she still can't give him the words he desperately needs to hear. He pledges to do anything to pay for his sins against her family. And boy does her ever.
Dalhu the Doomer must pass the tests imposed by Micah since he ordered the killing of her son Mark, who was an computer programmer. Will he pass the required tests imposed by Mark's extended family to atone for his crimes? Can Dalhu win Amanda's ❤? I recommend you read this paranormal romance series. And, yes there is finally a HEA for Syssi & Kian.
Amanda's character is more complex in this installment. Dalhu's will and love for Amanda shines brightly throughout the book while Amanda struggles with who he was and his past. This is a fast paced book about redemption and love. Also, the reader get better insight into the guardians and some of their stories.
Am still enjoying these books but they are starting to feel a little of plagiarism with many terms and situations that reflect other paranormal authors. As I believe someone has already mentioned in a review, the use of 'True' in Andrew's convos smacks of Vishous and although I like him as a character he can't hold a candle to that particular Brother.
Even with the sets and characters different I have to start at the beginning with book 1. You never lose a character through the books, I love that. The flow goes from one book to the next, one love story, one war, and you never lose sight of anyone! Great story idea, you tired of vampires, and shape shifters. I love this one. Great job!
Didn't see how we were ever going to get to HEA with all of Dalhu's baggage. He was truly willing to do whatever it took. In the first book of this story arc he said determination and unwillingness to quit could bring success.
If all the guys I've met in this series, so far, Dalhu is my favorite. Love an underdog who won't give up.
I enjoyed this book very much. The only complaint I would say is it seem to me that it went into many directions. The Alex introduction into the story line could have been an independent story, although it was tied up nicely. Now we have Sebastian's story. Otherwise it was neatly done.
This series is making spend too many nights with little sleep it is so good.
A paranormal series that keeps on giving. Characters that rock, A storyline that has twists and turns and some fun and laughter to keep it moving. Such a great read and lots of stories inside the story to fuel your mind. Don't pass this one by.
This book doesn't disappoint, 6 books in and still going strong! I've liked Dalhu for a while now, and him and Amanda are just perfect each other. I loved getting to see Anandur in this book as well. He is a really funny guy. I highly recommend this book and the series. You definitely need to read them in order. So far, none are suitable as stand-alones.
This book is another great read in an epic series. The story line and it's c g characters couldn't be any better. This is by far the best series I have EVER read!!!!
