This was a very quick-paced story. I feel like this story could have been a little longer because there were a few moments where it felt like some things weren't explained or left you wondering about the invisible friends as a whole. All the characters were fun and the kids acted like kids. It was nice to see a book take place somewhere that isn't the US or Europe. Even though this didn't go a lot into Chinese customs or culture, it was focused on one of the festivals that is celebrated there. Overall this book was a fun, fast read.

Sienna doesn’t mind being on her own. She has her invisible friend, a dog named Rufus, who keeps her company. She didn’t want to move to China and suspected her father had taken the job and could continue looking for his wife and Sienna’s mother, who had disappeared three months ago. He denied that and told Sienna to stop thinking her mother might be alive.
After watching her tutor/nanny substituting fake jewels for her mother’s lovely necklace, Sienna decides it’s time to get to the bottom of the mystery. Why was the tutor in the last photo of her mother at the archaeological dig where she worked before she disappeared?
Feng’s brother disappeared when Sienna’s mother vanished, and they team up to get to the bottom of the mystery.
I enjoyed the problem-solving and daring the characters demonstrated to solve this mystery.
Recommended for readers eight years and older.

Very good. The cover art is good too.

The story was easy to follow and would be a good book for kids to read to get them into reading. It is fast paced and fun and not too long. A bit of mystery and a bit of magic and a good mix of friendship.
